This laserjet is more suited as an office printer for a small number of people or a home printer for someone who works from home rather than just as a home printer. The main reason behind this is because it is monochrome and is therefore not capable of printing in colour. This will probably turn out to be a setback at some point if you are using this as a home printer (in which case and all in one scanner/printer/copies suits most peoples' needs well). Even in the work place this can be an issue as you have to remember you can't print out coloured graphs and figures in your documents.

However, it is a good printer for printing out plain text documents as the quality is good and it is speedy. It prints double sided by itself so there is no need to manually reinsert your pages to continue half way through printing. This is a really useful feature. The only time I have had issues with the printing speed is when sending large PDF documents to be printed. Sometimes it pauses for a few minutes so you are unsure of whether it will print or not and other times I have had it pause for a minute or so between pages which is not ideal. I think it helps to send a few pages to be printed at a time so its memory does not have to deal with so much at once. This will probably be the same with the majority of printers though.

As with all toners, the ones for this machine are expensive however I have found that they can last quite a long time. The paper capacity is 250 pages and I have never had an issue with paper jams.
There are only 2 buttons on the top of the printer - standby and cancel and there are also lights that indicate things like when it is out of paper so it is very straight forward to understand. Also, it is quite a bulky cube-shaped printer and takes up a reasonable amount of room so this is good to take into consideration before purchasing.
