Now you have the perfect home or small business machine that can produce four functions. It can print whatever you need whether it is something from the computer or from a document that you have in your hand. It can scan or copy from 2 inches to 8.5 inches wide and from 3.5 inches to 39 inches in length. It will also fax your document right on the spot.

Just think of the space it will save over having 4 different machines sitting around the office or home. You can make copies and send faxes without having to use a computer.

The LaserJet 3150xi has 2MB of memory built-in so you can multitask with this unit. You can Scan a document and print at the same time, you can do some printing while you are faxing and you can scan something while it is receiving a fax.

Included with the LaserJet 3150xi is a IEEE 1284 bi-directional parallel cable, no USB connections.

This printer is not network ready, though you can get an optional JetDirect Print server that makes it network ready.

Printer
It prints in a 600 x 600 dpi (dots per inch) resolution, the quality of this compared to an ink jet is a lot nicer.

It can print up to 6 pages per minute once it gets started, there is a small delay when it is scanning the documents.

You can load up to 100 pieces of paper and it can print on all kinds of stock and envelopes.

The LaserJet 3150xi uses Windows GDI, HP PCL 4, MS-DOS emulation.

Copy Machine
You can set it to copy from 1 to 99 copies of t
ext or images and it will copy up to 6 pages per minute. If you are coping graphics it will be somewhat slower.

No need to use your computer, just place in the document, make your selections on how many and you can reduce it down to 50% or enlarge it up to 200%.

It will copy and print in a beautiful 600 x 600 dpi resolution.

Scanner
Scan at a 600 dpi enhanced resolution with 256 levels of gray.

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software is included for correcting the letters and making a perfect print.

You can scan and print up to 6 pages per minute.

Fax Machine
The LaserJet 3150xi has a built-in 14.4 Kbps modem that can send a page at 6 seconds. You can fax without using a computer. The modem also has these speeds 12000, 9600, 7200, 4800 and 2400 bps. (Bytes per second)

You can store in up to 199 phone numbers for speed dialing. With the stored phone numbers it is a one-touch scan to send the fax.

The 2MB of memory makes it large enough to store about 150 pages to be faxed.

The fax resolution can be set at Standard, (203 x 98 dpi) Fine, (203 x 196 dpi) Superfine (300 x 300 dpi) and Photo Mode. (300 x 300 halftone enabled)

The document tray capacity is at 30 sheets of 20-pound paper.

PC Requirements
It requires Windows 3.1 with 16MB of RAM on a 486 33MHz processor or faster.

On Windows 95, 98 and ME it requires a Pentium 90MHz or faster processor with 16MB of RAM.

Windows NT 4.0 requires 32MB of RAM.

Windows 2000 requires a Pentium 300MHz or faster processor with 64MB of RAM.

A parallel port

Overall
We have been using this four-in-one laser printer for over a year at work and it is really reliable. The scanned and copied documents come out just like the originals at the higher scan, though this will slo
w down the scanning and printing process.

The laser printer makes some clean and crisp looking documents. I have never used the fax part so I can’t say how good or bad it is.

They have only replaced the toner cartridge once that I know of and I bet it prints 20 to 50 documents per day.

It comes with a 280 page document book and there is a lot to learn with this four-in-one laser printer.

It comes with a one-year warranty.
