Advantages: Steady Dependable Printer

Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than its rivals

As workgroup printers go, there are none better than HP’s 4050 series. They come in a range of models from the basic to ones including print servers and additional paper trays. The HP 4050 is the king of mid priced printers it carries on the good values of its forerunner the HP LaserJet 4 series. The addition of a print server in this model increases the functionality of this model considerably as it can hang off a network and print for large numbers of users. We currently have four of these printers in the office and have experienced no difficulties with them at all. The only problems with the printers can occur in the set-up stage when they are connected to the network. This is because the manual gives very little direction in how to network the printers. So remember if you want to set the printer up on the network choose the custom set-up options when installing as other wise the set-up program will decided that the printer is connected to the computer by a network cable. This is just a minor flaw in the instructions rather than a problem with the actual printer.

Connecting to the network is just so easy. Just use the WebJetadmin tools from HP's website and on it goes. The printer is great though I must agree

I agree - this is the top printer, albeit a little pricey!
