We are currently using several of these printers and first impressions are very good. The printer is nice and compact allowing it to sit neatly on a desk and yet can perform as well as some larger printers we also have. Made by HP the 1505 has the added advanatge of being a networked printer meaning you can add it to your home network and print from any computer connected to the network. This saves alot of hassle with connecting cables each time you want to print.
The printer is capable of printing up to 23 pages per minute which is plenty for home use. It will also hold up to 250 sheets of paper in the input tray and hold 100 sheet in the output tray meaning you dont have to refill every 5 minutes!
A big disadvantage of thes printer is the cost of the toners, expect to pay between £50 - £80 depending on your source although if you buy non HP toners they can be a bit cheaper. Alot of people are fooled by the relativly cheap price of this printer but you will soon find your spending alot on toners.
We have been able to print between 2000 - 3000 pages per toner however so if your just using this as an occasional printer it shouldnt matter too much.
Also be aware that when you buy the printer it only comes with an introductory toner meaning that it is generally only half full.
I would highly reccomend this printer for general office use although if your printing large volumes it could be an expensive option.
This is like the Office brought to your house! I would recommend this to anyone who is starting out in Business or has a high volume of printing (Black) to get through at home.
This is compact - easy to use - quick to set up - good quality - easy to replace the cartridges - relatively good value for money - a reputable name! What more can you ask for!!
Having recently set up working for myself from home (Part Time) I find this to be an excellent starting point! I am not a technical whizz by any means and found that the instructions were very easy to use, I purchased this from PC World and was told that I would be able to print approximately 100 sheets with the cartridge that is contained in the box (this is included in the price when you purchase the printer)......... In actual fact I think that I got about 500 sheets from the cartridge before it started to fade. It is very efficient - the quality is excellent and I have been able to use this to produce reports, presentations, print onto slides, print onto photograph paper and also for Wedding Invitations.
The replacement cartridges are approximately £65.00 (or thereabouts) and can be bought from most high street retailers such as staples, office world etc or online. There is the option to purchase cartridges that have been refilled for a discounted price however when they are on 3 for 2 and similar price point offers you are then able to get roughly the same price per cartridge for HP branded cartridges.
I print quite frequently from this and have not replaced the toner since 13th March 09. So, gratefully I have manged some 3months using this cartridge - which is far better value for money than I used to get with my ink jet printer which I had previously used.
I would say that this printer would be ideal, not only for a small home based business, but also for a small-medium office business. The printing is quick and off excellent quality, I have experienced no maintenance issues to date and from reading other reviews and/or comments on HP printers I think that is quite consistent across the board.
The H.P. LaserJet P1505 is an ideal desktop printer for the small or home office setup, great if you're fed up with the running costs of replacing ink cartridges in an ink based printer. The LaserJet P1505 is a small mono printer with a big toner cartridge so it won't take long to start saving money on running costs.
Quality is good with crisp clean results.
The P1505 is a very simple printer in every way, its easy to setup and use, there is also very little to go wrong.
I found the pull down front to be a little on the flimsy side, however when its in use the panel is down and becomes the paper tray so this is a very minor issue.
Being Hewlett Packard it is easy to repair and source parts should you ever need to, and all the repair company's like supporting Hewlett Packard.
I would recomend this printer to anyone.
