Advantages: High quality

Disadvantages: High cost toner

This printer was purchased as a family printer by my dad about a year or so ago, initially a very ugly and bulky printer, i didn't like it, walking into the room it seemed as though it was consuming most of the room itself. The printer itself performs most tasks you'd expect from a modern printer, double sided printing without taking the paper out, printing on photographic paper and not being blotchy.

First of all I'd like to mention the draw backs of this printer, which i believe is only one thing, Timing. When you press print on a lot of newer printers you have a good chance of your printing been done within a few seconds, with this printer it seems like you could go stick the kettle on and have a brew before it's done, yes I'm exasperating a little but it does take quite a while, sometimes around 30 seconds to process a request and commence printing. Also the toner costs for these printers is sky high and this makes them not a cheap option to maintain if you do a lot of colour printing, you may want to search for something with lower toner costs.

The printer once it has started printing is actually fairly quick and not a problem after it's lag period and the double sided printing i do think is a good feature as anyone else that used to use it will tell you how annoying it was having to print all your work to put it all back in the other way round to get it to print the opposite pages on the other side. This printer has the ability to print it's first side out, it then pops the paper back out then sucks it back in to finish the job it has started. The printer also has the capability of printing very high quality images, I have myself printed onto that photographic paper stuff you can get from Jessops and other such shops and the images were actually pretty good. Yes, of course they were not as good as what you could purchase from an actual photo printing company but for a bit of fun and something you have done yourself at home they're not half bad quality prints.

In summary of this I think it is definitely a very good printer, it may have an expensive up keep for items such as it's toner but the quality definitely shows when using it.
