Advantages: Fast, good quality print outs; Easy to use; Good memory size
Disadvantages: My model was very unreliable - jammed frequently after a year of use
A good bit of work done. Right...go to print...OK...now sit back for a few seconds and this laser printer will ping out my 3 page document. What? Jammed? Ok, let me just adjust the paper, make sure everything is going in Ok...yep, looks fine...lets try that again then. What? How has it jammed again? Stupid....argh!
Sadly this has been my experience with the Samsung ML 1210. I've seen stirling reviews for it from technically gifted owners and layman alike. I like to think that I have an average knowledge of printers - I can do the basics - and I have had a poor experience with this one. As the reviews on this site are purely subjective, I ask those who disagree with me to understand that this review is based on my own experience.
I have had the printer for about a year and a half now. Initially it was superb, printing out documents in no time at all. The problem wasn't the paper jamming, but loading the paper fast enough! Sure enough it performed as other reviews have noted that it performs.
Costing £69.99 with free bundle of economy office paper and a toner cartridge it seemed like a great buy. There is the initial 10-15 seconds where the printer has a 'think'. and then the paper shoots out in great quality. I've never had any problems with the cartridges (sorry, I cant remember how much they were to replace - see other reviews?). However, a few months ago the printer began jamming every time anything is printed out. Having gone from printing the whole of my 12,000 word dissertation in one sitting the printer is now unable to print out 2 pages in sucession. The other day I printed out a 3 page document without it jamming and I was over-the-moon - this should't be the case with a laser printer that was, frankly, quite expensive. I've tried everything to get it working again short of taking it to a professional, but PC World's warranty has finished so I will have to pay for it. This is not a high priority right now as I can simply take the print job upstairs to use our other printer.
Have I been unneccessarily harsh in judging the whole series by the one faulty model I received? No. This review is simply a summary of my personal experiences, and should be taken as just that. The time I got from the printer when it was functional was excellent, but be warned: mine suffered heavily with age.
Summary: Initially an excellent printer but as it aged it began to jam - very frustrating
