Advantages: Cheap, compact, fast, quiet.

Disadvantages: Protruding input paper tray, first unit developed a fault.

The ML2240 was my first laser printer, used to replace a cheap HP inkjet which was costing the earth in cartridges. After around 6 months fairly intensive use, the unit developed a fault and would not spool paper correctly. It has since been replaced (very efficiently and at no cost to myself) by the online store ebuyer, which I would recommend.

The printer is fast (almost up to the quoted 22ppm advertised), quiet when in standby and has a quick warm-up time.

Images of the printer invariably show the unit with the paper tray folded up. In actual use, the paper input tray protrudes by about 10cm, though it is not particularly unnattractive and comes with a dust cover to keep paper clean.

I share my ML2240 across a home network with the Netgear WGPS606 print server which works effectively.

Despite the fault in my first unit, I would still recommend this printer as a cheap and compact inkjet replacement, for those who print mostly text.

Summary: A promising laser printer for those that do not often require colour printing.
