Flymo Turbo Lite 330
by Danscomp
It may float on a cushion of air and it may be cheap, but I will never buy another one of these hover mowers. I bought my flymo from homebase for £34.99 on sale. It is certainly light, easy to pick up. The cord is an absolute pain. It allows a reach of approximately 60 feet and when not in use has to be wrapped endlessly around the ... handle. Whenever you use it, you have to unwind the cord which will have fallen into a tangled mass of coils on top of the base unit.
There is some minor assembly when bought, but five minutes is all you will need. The flymo operates using a little plastic blade that slots in underneath. It's worth buying a few replacements as this blade will break at the slightest provocation. I went through four during one summer. It also doesn't like cutting any real accumulation of grass. It just blows it flat, making it even more of a pain to cut, needing a number of passes to get a patchy finish.
In my direct experience as an owner and user of this product, the description of this item stating that its motor is powerful enough to "tackle the toughest grass conditions" is patently untrue. Neither does it "cut easily in every direction".
Another reason why you should not consider buying this particular flymo is that there is no grass collector. You will be reduced to grabbing handfuls of cut grass, and if your garden is any appreciable size at all (mine is only forty foot by twenty), there will inevitably be plenty of cut grass blown into every concievable corner in addition to what's left on the lawn. Bad news if you have any hay fever sufferers or asthmatics in your house.
It does store easily, but I was almost thankful when the mower burned out after three summers. I replaced it with a wheeled Qualcast for little more money that is far, far more effective at cutting grass. It also has a collector and a steel cutting blade worthy of the name.
Advantages of a flymo hover mower:
Light
Cheap (ish)
Easy to store
Disadvantages of this flymo hover mower:
Bad at cutting grass
No grass collector
Blows cut grass everywhere
Blades are a joke
Flex storage is a pain Read the complete review |

Flymo Turbo 350 Compact Vision
by areajohn
Have had 3 flymos prior to this one and they have all been very easy to use. Bought this last year and it has served well during the summer months. It glides effortlessly over the grass and cuts to the level that you want. This can be adjusted by adding small plastic discs that raise or lower the blade.
Picks up the clippings ... as it goes and stores them in the top box which has a clear plastic sight on the top so that you can see when its full. Although the machine does get heavier as it gets fuller so after a while you dont need to check.
Easy to manover over the grass and you dont have to stick to straight lines. Easy to open and get rid of the clippings which are in their own basket inside. The hadle folds in two for easy storage and you can then wrap the lead around the handles.
Like all lawnmowers you need to clean it after use or it will get blocked up. All in all value for money and a good mower for the lawn. Read the complete review |

Flymo Turbo Lite 330

As our garden is slightly sloped, I wanted a lawn mower that was self-propelled to give me added help whilst pushing it, but I didn't want anything too heavy to lug about as I have on going back problems. After reading many reviews on different types we thought that this one would be good to go with.
THE SPEC:
The FLymo's ... power consumption is a whooping 1150 watts that runs on a 240v supply, cutting width is 33cm, 4 step cutting system that can cut between 10 - 30mm with it's metal blade. Good sized cable which is 10 meters in length. Overall weigh is 6.5 kg.
All boxed up nicely with easy to understand instructions. The Flymo comes with a one year guarantee. Very easy to put together just involves the main handle, which needs assembling. One thing that I did notice first off was that it didn't come with a grass box, so if your grass is long, then expect plenty of raking up after you've cut it, or if you have the time then just go back over the lawn and it'll suck it all up.
The handles can be a bit fiddly when setting up and extending, as you have to ensure that the plastic pin is inserted correctly
Love the metal blade as it cuts through the grass really well - just like a knife cutting through butter. It really is effortless to use and I'd say that it takes me half the time now to mow the lawn than I used to take with my old petrol mower. As with most mowers it's best to mow the grass when it's completely dry other wise if the grass is wet then it will drag and an untidy mess is created and the lawn mowed will get clogged up.
So far I've only had to replace the blade once, which was easy to do and cost me just under £15 through the Amazon website. To remove the blade you need to use the ring spanner that is supplied with the mower (this can also be used to add the spacers if you need to make a closer cut).
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a good value, lightweight lawn mower that has great ability to cut the lawn in a neat and tidy fashion with minimal effort required by the user.
