Advantages: Cheap, Easy to Store

Disadvantages: A Design Fault Where the Cutting Blades Go?

First for the positives - This Flymo is very light (4.5kg), easy to handle and folds down so it is handy if you haven't got a big shed to store it in. The mower comes with a decent pack of plastic cutting blades. Considering that it is a small mower, then it is only suited to small lawns and therefore you really wouldn't go through very many blades. I think I've only replaced mine once!

It has a 28cm cutting width and only 2 cutting heights. So it doesn't cut a huge area and there aren't too many options for how much you can at one go. Its also only 100W, but again as its only designed for small areas, this is more than enough.

Its got a 12m cable which I think is fairly generous unless your powerpoint is much further away than mine!

The downside of the mower seems to be a design fault. The slots where you insert the cutting blades seems to be quite weak. Its only a thin bit of plastic either side of the blade and on one side, mine has split. This means that the blade flies out. I have temporarily fixed this by glueing a thin piece of plastic over the top to bridge and strengthen it, but it has come off a couple of times already. I saw exactly the same mower for sale at my local tip, so I was going to buy it to replace the broken part on mine. However, it had exactly the same problem! So the signs are that it could be a common problem.

I bought this for £34.99 from Argos.

I am in the process of contacting Flymo regarding this, so watch this space...!

Summary: Ideal for small gardens but watch out for the weak plastic where the blades are inserted
