Flymo Turbo Compact 330
Disadvantages: Only suitable for nice flat lawns. Electric
The key thing before buying any lawnmower is making sure it's suited for your lawn. Note: A flymo is NOT what you want for a garden that is more like a mountain landscape than a bowling green.
If you've got a flattish (even a bit of raised area is fine) then this product will suit you down to a tee.
More than capable of producing a tidy cut when the grass is dry (cutting when wet/damp will produce an untidy cut in all honesty), four heights (which is more than enough for the average lawn), decent size blades and really, really lighweight, the 330 is a tidy little hovermower.
At my previous property (which had a small-medium sized lawn and was as flat as Holland) this was perfect, I couldn't have got a better cut if I'd done it with scissors.
However the new property is a bigger garden which has brought a problem with the 10metre cable no way near big enough to cover the whole garden. Major problem with electric mowers is as you manouvre around plantpots, washing-line poles, trees etc the wire length affects you badly. Anything more than a small garden and you need a petrol (in my opinion, that is). Fair enough an extension cable isn't the biggest burden in the world.
The main reason I can't use the 330 now is my lawn's got a steep incline. Even though it's lightweight enough to lift at an angle, it gives a poor cut on the incline. As light as this mower is it just won't give that quality cut on that terrain. It's what petrols were designed for.
It's with disappointment that I'm no longer able to use the 330 as it's been a great little mower for me. But I don't want to put anyone off buying one, for the right lawn it's PERFECT!
Summary: Many good cuts from it.
