Advantages: Light, Compact, Easy to Use

Disadvantages: No Grass Collection, Too Small for Large Areas

I know it's a bit cheeky really, but we have two lawn mowers in our house. We live right in the middle of a row of terraces with a long walk round from the front to the back of our house. So rather than bringing a lawn mower through the house to do the front garden, we store the Flymo Turbo Lite mower in the garage out front!

It's a great little machine for small areas and what's especially great is how light it is. My better half would have to be paid a small fortune to mow the back garden but she's more than happy to whip this little gadget out and give the front garden the once over while she's gardening or tidying up bits and pieces out there. She's not lazy (well, she's not JUST lazy) but in fairness she has a bad back. So I do think that says something for others who struggle with heavy machinery. I checked a website for details on this and found that it weighs just 6.5kg. Incidentally, it sells for around £50 too though I reckon most people could pick this up quite cheaply second hand these days as it's not the latest model.

As far as performance goes this little number does the job quickly and easily. It just floats up and down the lawn with ease and there's no needing to 'put your back into it' or anything. The blade is decent enough to give you a nice smooth lawn though you won't get a professional finish that'll win any awards with this. The cable's 12m too so you shouldn't have any problems getting around a small lawn with this at all.

I don't recommend it for larger lawns purely because of it's size. There are much bigger mowers out there so it's a bit of a waste of time and energy to try to cut a big garden with this. Also, there's no grass collection unit attached to this so be aware that you have to go round and rake up the cut grass afterwards. If you've got a big lawn you're much better off buying a bigger mower with a built in grass collector.

Summary: A Great Little Mower for Small Areas

Whats the noise like on this icky Flymo? Im glad it has a proper blade and not the cheap fangled plastic thread they used to put in them.
