An intensively rich cracked heel repair for the feet

This was an item that I pinched from my mum's load of bits in her bathroom. She must have had it for over a year and she had not used it up so I thought someone might as well!

I have only just noticed in the last year how my heels and feet require a lot more care than they used to. I came back from a trip to London and the soles of my feet had been burning with all the walking I had done as well my shoes rubbing on my toes. So my feet needed a really good pamper.

I also noticed that the soles of my feet were getting quite rough. This cracked heel repair is by Boots own brand and it says on the front of the tube 'visible results in just 3 days.' Well that does sound pretty good but I would not agree entirely. Yes my feet were smoother after 3 days but they would be with anything if I had suddenly gone from not moisturising my feet at night time to suddenly moisturising them every night. But I would say it took about 2 weeks for me to see that my heels were not as cracked but I also used a foot file which I think helped a lot. I think it was necessary to use both the cream and the foot file together to see the best results.

It also claims to make the skin on your feet 4 times thicker which again is not something that I have noticed but I am unsure how you would notice this really.

I have applied the cream all over my feet not just on my heels, this is because it claims to be intensely moisturising which the whole of my feet needed not just my heels.

The crack heel repair in this particular tube is no longer sold by Boots online but it is still sold in my local Boots store. But it looks like there is a slightly new and revamped version of it called Boots Gorgeous Feet Rapid Cracked Heel Repair. From what I have read about it, it seems like exactly the same product but just in a slightly newer packaging which is why I carried on with writing this review because it still seems like the same product inside of the tube. It is a 100ml tube which cost £4.99. I have used it continuously for about 2 months now and I am nearly at the end of the tube.

For some reason which I cannot explain I am not a particular fan of the smell of this product even though other reviews seem to rave about the smell. It smells very strongly of shea butter which was an issue I had with a similar foot cream from Avon which I bought to use with the socks which you can wear overnight to intensively moisturising your feet after putting on the foot cream. So for that reason I would not purchase this foot cream again.

But since using the cracked heel repair I am now in the routine of looking after my feet so I am on the look out for a new foot cream. If this was fragrance free or had a different smell I would repurchase it because it is intensively moisturising and rich, and my Avon foot balm is not a patch on how moisturising this product is.

It gains 3 out of 5 stars from me: it loses 1 star for its smell and the other star for me feeling that its claim of 'visible results in just 3 days' not keeping its promise.

        worth a try

OK this may sound stupid but the past few weeks I've been packing and sealing loads of cardboard boxes as I've (finally) moved and am unpacking the last few.

What's all this got to do with cracked heel cream I hear you ask? well, if you remember a few weeks back it was unseasonally warm and humid and being constantly on the go with thick socks on I soon noticed that my heels were really painful and sore especially when running up and down stairs all day. I'm not an expert, but I'd say that hold clammy feet are one of the reasons one gets cracked heels as they do not get 'aired'?

Anyway, enough was enough, so I hobbled down to our local Boots to see what they had in the way of heel repair. I was tempted to by the Scholl , but being short of cash I opted for Boots Gorgeous Feet Cracked Heel Repair which cost £4.29 and promised 'visible results in just 3 days'.

It's a rather sexy looking tube and a good size too - 100 ml - and it is advised that you apply the cream every morning and evening for a week to see optimum results.

It stated that you should notice an improvement after the first application and I guess that this is correct although the improvement was not as fast as I had hoped and it was about 3 weeks later that I was absolutely happy and pain-free but I have to admit that my feet look and feel better than they have done in ages.

The cream is fairly thick and easy to squeeze out just the correct amount. I used twice the amount they suggest and popped on a pair of cotton trainer socks for extra comfort and protection. There is a nice smell of apricot which is not overpowering and does not linger too long and the lotion itself is easy to massage between the toes and top of the feet if you have any left on your hands.

Boots provide a long list of ingredients on the back of the tube but there are so many and the print is so small hence I have not listed them Dooyoo friends - they do not make any sense to me either! But, they are provided if you're the sort of person who likes or has to know what is going to seep into their/ the family's skin.
Personally, I trust good old Boots so if they stock it that is enough for me - I am too old to worry about ingredients!

In conclusion ten, I would say this is good value and is worth persevering with. The product, although not giving immediate relief, is easy to use and does, eventually, do the job of relieving the discomfort whilst nourishing the feet.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        This one isn't for me.

This foot cream is designed to deal with dinosaur feet, which I suffer from.

        --Use--
You are supposed to massage the cream into your feet. Simple. You need to use it daily, or more, for at least three days. The packaging says that you will see results after three days. I'm guessing that you need to continue to use it, but I didn't get that far, as you will see.

        --Appearance and feel--
It has a mild apricot smell and colour. It is very thick and rich, which is what you need for dinosaur feet, really. So it is nice to use - especially if you can get someone else to massage it into your feet for you.

        --Effect--
It left my feet feeling lovely and soft. I used it regularly for a week and noticed a slight difference in how soft my feet were, but nothing like as much as I was hoping. I suppose I was hoping for a miracle.

        --Side effect--
I carried on using it, slightly intermittently, for another week or so. My hands came out in a red itchy rash. I tried to work out what my hands might be sensitive too, and didn't immediately think of the foot cream - because I was putting that on my feet! But eventually I twigged, stopped using the foot cream, and my hands recovered in a few days. I tried the foot cream again, and the rash came back.

        --Cost--
Boots Gorgeous Feet Cracked Heel Repair costs £4.20 for 100ml.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

If you suffer from dry cracked heels then this is the product for you

Gorgeous feet cracked heel repair does exactly what it says on the tube, repairs those nasty cracked heels. This is a wonderful product with a delicious sweet and creamy aroma and best of all is non greasy although an oily based moisturising product and ideal for anyone who suffers from extremely dry cracked skin around the heel area which can often be caused by prolonged standing, so if you're on your feet all day, be it at work or home you may find that you suffer from cracked heels like me. This product is suitable for any age and any gender so guys don't be shy and look after those feet.

Directions for use as stated on the tube:
"Use morning and night for one week, then as needed. For extremely damaged skin the treatment may take longer."
I have worked in retail for a number of years now and find that being on my feet all day puts a tremendous amount of stress and pressure on my feet causing the skin to need a little extra TLC. especially around the heel area. I have tried many different products in my attempt to eradicate this rather unpleasent hardened and cracked skin and it wasn't until I used cracked heel repair from the Boots Gorgeous feet range that I felt I had found my cure. I used this religiously for a week , rubbing it on day and night as stated in the directions, always putting socks on afterwards to ensure that the cream did not rub off and as if by magic the rough skin gradually became softer and before long my cracked heels were no more.

          So what's in it?
Here's a rundown of the ingredients for those of you who are interested in knowing what goes into these sorts of products.

          Ingredients:
Aqua, Glycerin, paraffin, pronus dulcis, isopropyl myristate,
          Dimethicone, vitis vinifera, glyceral stearate,
          Cetyl alcohol, Steareth-21, steareth-2, Phenoxyethanol,
          Theobroma cacao, Vaccinium myrtilus, Panthenol,
          Xanthan Gum, Saccharum officinarum, Methylparaben,
Dipropylene Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Propykoaraben, parfum, Citrus aurantium dulcis, Citrus medica limonum, BHT,
          Acer saccharum extract, Tetrasodium EDTA,
          Hydroxyisohexyl 3 - cyclohexenecarboxaldehyde,
          Benzyl alcohol, Linalool.
What does it claim to do?
"This intensive heel balm has been specially formulated for this skin on your feet, with instant improvement from first use, and a visible imporvement in cracked heels in 3 days."

As you can see from my comments above, this product does work tremendously and I did start to see results almost immediately after using it for the first time.
The only thing I disliked about this product is that it did not come in a smaller tube offering only 150ml and 100ml options. Since using the product, my cracked heels have not returned and I have not even used half of the product contained in the 100ml tube. There is however no use by date so I'm sure if my cracked heels were to return then I wouldn't have to go and buy another one. For now though - I'll keep this one safely tucked away in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom.

Overall an excellent product at a reasonable price which I would recommend for anyone with dry cracked heels.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

a fantastic foot cream which is reasonable in price

I bought this in the summer to make my feet look gorgeous in flipflops and sandals. It costs 4.29 for a decent sized tube and was one fo teh cheaper ones as is Boots own brand.
The packaging is simple, and the lotion is a soft peach colour.
The balm is designed to repair and mositurise cracked dry skin on the feet and get rid of the cracked heels we all suffer from, from time to time. Its more of a balm than a mosituriser and comes out the tube quite thick and greasey but this is what I wanted... an intense lotion.
It instantly makes feet feel smooth, but needs to be left aounf 10 mins to completely absorb into the skin. Apply to clean feet and massage into dry areas especially heels. It works even better if you put on cotton socks afterwards and then it really absorbs. Ther balm lasts quite a while as you dont need that much because it is intense. I think this is a fantastic foot product as its quite cheap and after about 4 uses cracks have dissappeared from feet and skin feels smooth and gorgeous.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A little of the balm goes a long way......

I have always been a big fan of Scholl Foot Products and use them quite a lot. It you had asked me a few weeks ago, I would have told you that in my opinion, Scholl was the best brand of foot care I could buy.

This has all changed since my recent visit to Boots. I did go into Boots with the intention of looking to see if there were any offers on Scholl foot care. As there was nothing on offer, I decided to have a look round. That's when I spotted Boots brand of Cracked Heel Repair and decided to give it a try.

If I don't keep up with my foot care, then the skin on my heels does tend to get very dry and starts to crack. With the awful summer we have had, I have definitely not paid as much attention to my feet as I should have. It is so easy to slip my feet into a pair of flat shoes and forget about them.

Boots Cracked Heel Repair comes in very pale peach coloured tube and has a slightly darker peach coloured flip top lid. There is a picture on the front of the tube of a pair of feet and ankles.
It also says on the front of the tube that you will get 'visible results in just three days'.

When I opened the tube there was no immediate fragrance. I gave the tube a squeeze and the balm came out slowly. It is white in colour and I rubbed a very small amount between my finger and thumb. The balm is thick and feels very creamy. It does feel slightly greasy but I expected that. The balm has the very slightest hint of a floral fragrance. It smells very delicate.

I applied the balm to my nice clean feet and paid particular attention to my heels. It blended into the skin on my feet very easily. I have to say that as soon as I applied the balm my feet did feel a lot smoother and looked more moisturised. The balm did take around ten minutes to absorb completely into my feet. I was happy to let this happen as there was no point in applying the balm unless I gave it time to work.

It does say on the tube to use morning and night but I have to admit that I just used it at night. I found that it worked very well this way, and my heels were crack free after four uses. After my first use I did put a pair of cotton socks on after applying the balm. This saves me having to sit and wait for it to absorb into my skin.

This balm works very well and I am delighted with the results. My heels feel very soft and smooth all the time now, as does the rest of my feet.

This Cracked Heel Repair comes in a 100ml tube and costs £4.29. When I bought it there was a buy one 'georgeous feet product' and get the second half price.

It does say on the tube that it should not be applied to bleeding or infected skin.

It has a shelf life of 24 months and all the ingredients are listed on the back of the tube.
