I don't usually buy No7 products, to be honest. I pretty much stop at the highlighter. I think it is a little expensive for what they are and I also find the packaging quite dull so it never really stands out for me. However with the summer holidays coming up, I was browsing the Boots website and looking at the best products that customers had recommended and here I found the leg oil.
I have to say that an oil is not something I have really used before. Being pale, I fake tan so oils tend to remove it and I am usually better sticking with a shimmery cream. However I thought I would give this a go because it was so highly rated.
The packaging did now excite me one bit and in fact I had to really look for this product on the shelf as all the No7 packaging looks the same really. It was on my second trip back to the shelf, just to ensure I hadn't missed it that I found it. It comes in a peach plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. I have to say that I thought they could have made the bottle a bit bigger! I was looking for a more substantial bottle so I was quite surprised at how small it was.
I decided to try it out that night as I was going out. I went in the shower, shaved my legs and used a wash off fake tan. I let the tan soak in for about 15 minutes before applying the leg oil. When I pumped it into my hand it was literally like sparkly olive oil but with a lighter consistency! It was a lovely peach colour with tiny specks of golden shimmer in it. When I smoothed it on, it did take off a bit of my tan but I simply massaged it in with the oil so it was even again. You would think that it would make the legs look greasy but actually once it had sunk in my legs did resemble something from the red carpet with not a speck of unnatural glitter in sight. My legs looked leaner and longer (from the light reflective properties) and oh so silky smooth!
A small criticism would be that this didn't last all night and they did dull down but the next day my legs were increadibly soft and smooth. A little prduct did seem to go a long way but it was when I came to do my thighs that it seemed to require a substantial amount more product.
For smoothing benefits and appearance, this product is great. My criticisms are that it is really pricey for what it is. It isn't really what I would call a necessary product for my beauty regime but the effect is a little addictive and although I won't be using this all the time I think it may be a summer night treat for holidays. It really does make your legs look better and with those shorts and mini skirts coming back out I will take all the help I can get!
I honestly cannot believe I havent already reviewed this product because it is another one of those top products that Im never without a bottle of on the bathroom shelf. I got one of those fabulous No7 sets for Christmas and I was chuffed to find that it had one of these Silky Leg Oils in it, because I do love this product but I cant afford it all the time thats for sure! Anyway this has got to be my number 1 winter product because it seems my skin decides to change from soft and smooth in summer to dry and horrible in winter so I need something to stop that happening, and quickly!
The Claim: [Found On The Boots Website]
Because the skin on our lower leg is thin and prone to dryness, they need a more intense type of moisture to keep them soft and smooth. This heavenly formula uses nourishing Moroccan argan oil and vitamin E to give deep-down hydration, leaving even parched knees and shins feeling irresistibly smooth.
The packaging of this oil is actually really pretty and very in keeping with the rest of the No7 range. It comes in a 100ml bottle, which is actually a lot bigger than it sounds and is a lovely glittery, peach colour due to the liquid inside the bottle coming through the transparent tube. All in information you need to know is written on the back of the bottle: ingredients & how long to keep the product for amongst others.
Now Ive found this works a lot better if you apply it straight after a shower when your skin is dirt free and your legs are pretty smooth already.
You just pump a few squirts out of this bottle and start rubbing it into your legs. The consistency of this is exactly like baby oil but with a shimmer which quite put me off the first time I used it because I thought it would leave my legs really greasy but I was quite surprised to find it sunk in quite quickly (about 2 minutes) and didnt leave any of that horrible, greasy residue on my hands or my legs.
As I mentioned at the start of this review my skin totally changes in winter, especially on my legs and Im left with nasty dry skin on my legs and especially on my knees which is proper irritating so I was really hoping this would work. And Im happy to say it did and it still does. Despite its oily, greasy consistency this actually sinks into your skin really quick and leaves you which smooth looking & feeling legs that have a really subtle shimmer.
The shimmer was another thing I was quite worried about because I hate body glitter ecause it tends to get everywhere when I apply it. But this surprised me because rather than leave massive glittery clumps on your legs it leaves a really subtle shimmer that you can really see when it catches the light. And when Ive worn this on nights out Ive always got really nice comments on how great my pins look. So thats pretty good I reckon!
It does actually help with dry skin as well because whilst using this I have definately seen a vast improvment in the appearance and feel of my legs and there is not a patch of dry skin in sight anymore. Take that winter 1-0 to me!
Price & Stockists:
This will cost you around £11 from Boots stores and online at the Boots website. £11 may sound a bit much but the results you get from this are amazing so I would definately say if you can afford it get it!
Another winner from No7 I reckon and the best solution for dry legs that Ive ever found. If you, like me suffer from dry legs in the winter then buy this and you wont anymore! I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone and Ill be using it in the summer as well because I just cant resist that subtle, sexy shimmer!

I have now for many years used no 7 beauty products. I find them to be reasonably priced and extremely long lasting whilst also doing exactly what it says on the tin. I visited boots a few weeks back with a £5 skin care voucher burning a massive hole in my pocket and was originally after a bronzing lotion to take the scary snow man sheen off my dramatically underexposed legs. Due to the popularity of no7 products all the bronzers in my shade had sold out. Unless i wanted to look like a gravy powdered weight lifter my purchase, on this occasion, was on hold.
Then my eyes alighted on an extremely decorative pretty box. The sort that you would leave on your shelf long after the product had been used just because it would look good! "silky leg oil" it declared.
Now, I have used various oils in the past and have never been overly impressed by the sticky residue, lingering smell or clothes adhering to recently oiled parts. But for some reason, this time, i threw those misconceptions to the wind and gave it a go.
Retailing at £10.50 for a 100ml bottle may seem pricey to some. I have had this bottle a little over 3 weeks, i use it everytime i wear a skirt or shorts which is roughly 3 times a week and am 5'4. So thats probably about 11 applications counting back to the times i can remember using it. The oil is still under a centimetre from the top of the bottle, therefore one bottle could last 6 months easily.
The bottle is fitted with the usual no7 pump top and a large plastic lid, which, for travelling purposes it is essential that you keep track of to avoid oily clothes. I have also found that if you squirt the oil onto one leg and rub in then swap hands and do the other leg, the bottle itself ends up very oily. Better by far to apply to the legs, put the bottle to one side and use your hands to rub in. As a result of my error i now transport the bottle to the gym/days away etc in a sandwich bag to preserve my other belongings. No fault of boots that one, just a natural side effect of the product.
When you first squirt the bottle (sorry couldn't think of a better term) the product comes out looking very much like olive oil. it has a lovely soft slightly nutty smell that for some reason i cant quite work out reminds me of summer. The product rubs in amazingly quickly and amazingly well. Covering dry areas, making skin look smoother and leaving a delightful sheen very much like a catwalk model (which, lets face it is as close as i will ever get to being one of those!!!) The product remains noticeably wet for about 5 minutes but the sheen remains noticeable for the next 4-5 hours at least. The softness of skin gained from the product lasts for days and is far better than any moisturiser that i have found. I last used the product over 48 hours ago and despite 2 showers and all the time inbetween i can still feel the softness in my skin gained.
I haven't yet tried it on any other areas of my body but plan on doing that today so may well report back in the comments section. I would however caution against using it other than on legs on very hot sunny days. Visions of it acting like a cooking oil and leading to very nasty sunburn as any oil product would are coming to mind.
Over all a fantastic new product from No7, in my opinion they have only ever got it wrong twice out of their entire massive product range. I would happily purchase this product again and recommend it highly, for sheer longevity, ease of application, and lasting effect.
No 7 Silky leg oil 100ml, £10.75 (which will earn you 40 advantage card points worth 40p)
I can never resist those lovely goody bags they give you when you spend a certain amount on No 7 products, I already had most of the range so the consultant recommended this item.
I had a big night out planned that week and was a slightly worried about getting my pasty legs out after 6 weeks of covering up in winter clothes so I thought I'd give it a go... and I'm so glad I did!
It comes in a pretty box and the bottle is in a shimmery peach/gold colour and is in the shape and style as the rest of the No 7 range.
It claims to leave legs 'instantly, irresistably smooth', and it does!
I'm not used to using oil products so the texture seemed a little strange to me (just like baby oil) and when I pumped some out it had a yellow tinged appearance - a bit like shimmery cooking oil!
When you rub it in it instantly softens your skin and masks any dry areas, especially knees. You start off looking a little greasy but as it sinks in (around 5 mins) the greasiness fades and leaves a beautiful soft shimmer, not obvious at all, it just looks like you have a great pair of legs and lovely soft skin (just like those ladies off the venus razor adverts!).
I would highly recommend this product as it's the legs version of wash and go, all you need is a quick shave/wax/etc, rub in a little of this magic oil in and hey presto - gorgeous legs!
It is not just confined to legs though, you can use it on any areas. I usually apply it to my arms and chest as well as it leaves a lovely soft sheen to your skin.
Just make sure you give it time to sink in before going out though or you'll just look sweaty, which is never a good look!
If you like the sound of it get in quick as Boots are giving away three products for the price of two at the moment, and don't forget your advantage card as the points you make are the equivalent of a 4% discount.
And unlike most other beauty/cosmetics companies, if you are at all unhappy with any No7 product you can return it for a full refund, as long as you have your reciept of course.
This product claims to leave legs instantly and irresistibly smooth and is hypo-allergenic. It says 'because the skin on your lower legs is thin and prone to dryness, this oil-based formula gives concentrated, deep down moisture. Legs look softly glowing, noticeably younger, and even parched knees and shins feel irresistibly smooth'.
The recommended useage is every day after showering, shaving, swimming or bathing. To use you need to shake and smooth over bare legs, avoiding clothes. You must massage in well.
The name should really give it away in that it is very oily and you have to be quick to massage it in. It leaves legs very greasy and I find it to take a very long time to soak in enough to get dressed without wiping off onto clothing.
That being said, it does leaves legs looking smoother and gives a shiny texture and look to them. I would recommend its use, although it would be more beneficial when wearing skirts or shorts, rather than three-quarter length trousers as you can put it on whilst dress then.
