Disadvantages: sticky on hands when applying; expensive.
This is a product I got which was included in a Burts Bees gift set I got recently. The mini kit (I got the one called 'Tips and Toes Kit') is filled with products that are aimed at treating various parts of the body. This is the Coconut Foot Cream.
The product comes in a plastic tube which is malleable. The size is 20g or 0.75 oz so it is quite small. The tube is printed with a rather old fashioned looking design and shows a pencil drawing of a coconut. On the back of the tube there are some details given in English and French. The tube is marked as being made from recycled material and the product is marked as being not tested on animals. It is also marked as being certified as being a 'natural product'.
There are no list of ingredients on the tube itself but the kit I got comes with a booklet with more information in it. You can also visit the website for further details of each individual product. On the web page the brand explain that this product contains such rich ingredients as rosemary oil, olive fuit oil, oat kernel oil, canola oil, soybean oil, peppermint oil, coconut oil, lanolin and vegetable glycerin.
The tube is protected by a foil and plastic seal. On every product in the kit like this the foil peals back but the plastic doesn't so I end up having to poke the plastic out. It's a good idea to keep the products fresh though.
I was surprised to see this is not really a cream and is more like a gel or more accurately a balm. It is almost identical in consistency to Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Skin Protectant Cream. The cream is a golden ochre colour and it is very thick and sticky - like tree sap. The cream takes a lot of rubbing in and when you apply you feel like you are working it in square inch by square inch. It does feel like you are treating your feet with something very special though because the balm is so rich. The cream makes your skin feel waxed. On my dry skin on my feet I feel like I've just polished my shoes or something because you feel like you are almost working the cream into your skin as you rub and pummel. The cream leaves your feet feeling a little bit damp as the consistency of the cream means it isn't fully absorbed into the skin. It lies over the skin like a protective softening layer. This means that the best time to apply the cream is bedtime.
The cream has a really lovely smell which is perfect for applying to feet and for keeping sweaty feet smells at a minimum! The fragrance is like a blend of sweet vanilla cream, fresh coconut and mild mint. It's a subtle fragrance though so men would be okay with it as well as women.
I do rather like this foot cream. I don't use foot creams very often as I find they all have that horrible fake peppermint smell but the minty notes in this Burts Bees cream are very refreshing. I do like that the cream is rich like a waxy balm as it means I know my feet will stay soft for a long time after applying. The only thing I don't love is the sticky feeling on my hands when applying.
I would buy this again although it is rather expensive due to the natural ingredients used. To buy this on it's own would cost £12.99 for a 120g tube.
