Like many people I suffer from patches of hard rough skin on my feet. Rather than pay £10 for a Ped Egg, I thought I'd try the Sally Hansen Foot Rasp when I found it for 50p in Superdrug. It's also available online and in other stores which stock the Sally Hansen range.
The rasp is about 6 inches long, made of plastic and comes in a variety of colours including pink, purple and turquiose. At one end there is a grater-like section on one side and an emery board on the other side. The other end of the rasp acts as a handle.
To remove the rough patches just rub the grater on them. This, as you would imagine, grates the hard skin off. It sounds uncomfortable but you don't notice it as you're only removing dead skin. It is however messy as there is no where to catch the flakes of skin unlike the Ped Egg. Be sure to do this over something so you can clear up easily. The emory board side can be used afterwards to finish off the smoothing process. I like to finish off with a heavy duty moisuriser.
I use this twice a week and it has, from the very first use, made an impressive improvement to my rough patches. They are now much less noticeable, even between uses, and I feel far happier showing my feet in sandals.
