Advantages: I got them cheaper than average
Disadvantages: They don't really work
I used to wear high heels most of the time but now, for some reason, they absolutely kill me. I have no idea what has changed over the years but I simply cannot wear heels for hours anymore like I used to. The problem is that I still love wearing my beautiful shoes and I have spent a fair bit of money on them over time so I decided to try and find a solution to the pain. From working in a shoe shop a while back, I knew my first port of call was going to be Scholl.
I bought my PartyFeet Ultra Slim Invisible Gel Cushions from Tesco for around £3.50 which I thought was a reasonable price as I had seen them elsewhere for nearly £5. I wouldn't have even minded paying the £5 though at this point. This product can also be bought in some shoe shops, supermarkets and other shops like Boots and Superdrug. I decided to buy the ultra thin version of this product as I didn't want to feel as though I had something really chunky in the bottom of my shoes. The gel cushions come in a hard plastic packet but it is really easy to open. All you need to do is peel a sticker at the back and it opens up quickly. If you take the sticker off carefully, it can easily be replaced so you can use to packet to store the gel cushions in again after the first use.
The cushions themselves are about 4 inches in length and slightly smaller than the size of the balls of my feet. Because of the size, the cushions fit into my shoes, which are a size 5, very easily although there was a little bit of space not covered around the edges of the cushions. On the bottom of the cushions are a stickier side so that they don't move inside your shoes. Well, they are supposed to not move anyway. The cushions are made out of a clear gel so that you can't see them if you are wearing strappy/ open shoes.
I used these for a quite recent night out where I knew I would be out very late. It was the last night out of the year with my university friends so we all decided to get quite dressed up and this, of course, called for some swanky looking heeled shoes. I knew these shoes in particular had hurt a bit last time I wore them even though I have had them for ages. As they were already worn in, I knew that something had to be done to save my poor feet from hurting. The gel cushions fit very neatly in my shoes just under the bottoms of my feet and for the first hour or so, they worked very well. After that time and when my feet began to get a bit warm, the gel cushions stopped being as good. They began to move around in my shoes which was not a good thing at all as they were open toe sandals and I could slowly start to see the cushion at the front of my shoe. As the cushions moved in my shoes, they didn't stop my feet from hurting at all.
I got really annoyed with this product after only 2 hours. The cushions were annoying me so much, moving around in my shoes, that I ended up throwing them into a bin in the toilets of the bar we were at. Although I didn't want my feet to hurt, I also didn't want to be messing around with these stupid things in my shoes every 5-10 minutes or so by putting them back where they should be. For only 2 hours use, it definitely wasn't worth paying the £3.50 for let alone the full price of £5. I advise anyone thinking about buying this product to try something else because they definitely do not work and are a huge waste of money.
Summary: Not a good product
