I am a Body Shop fan ... oh yes I am! I love the place. One of the nicer things I have bought from there recently has been my Body and Leg Shine. I had a £5 Body Shop voucher, which I used in 'part exchange', and so ended up paying about £5 for this little golden twist up pot of shimmery stuff.
I have had a few problems with fake tans over the years, but God loves a trier. I bought this because it looked easy to use and I was also after something which would wash off immediately in the bath or shower. I was going out for the night and as I was wearing my little black dress and was planning to go bare legged, I really needed something to cover my pasty legs, (well, they have been hidden under thick tights for the last couple of months).
It was quite simple to use actually. I just followed the instructions by twistin until the little block of bronze colour was revealed and then applied it to the front and backs of my legs. I was trying to get that long legged sleek look so I concentrated on applying it mainly to the shin.
I obviously had prepared my legs beforehand by shaving and moisturising, as this is the best way to apply any fake tan. It needs a good base. The block did look very dark when I first twisted it up but I have to say that once I had applied it to my skin and gently rubbed in, it actually had toned down quite a bit. I applied more and gradually built up the colour the way I wanted it. It was that easy!
I love the shimmer this block gives my legs as well as a very natural looking tan. It gives great even coverage and no streaks and I was really delighted with the results. I think there is probably an art to effective application, but it's not rocket science. Just make sure you blend blend blend with your hands and fingers afterwards. It's no good just rubbing the block up and down your legs and hoping for the best - you have to put in a bit of effort.
Afterwards, the pals of my hands were a complete mess. However, I was able to wash this off very easily with soap and hot water. The smell was rather pleasant - quite fresh and fruity and the colour lasted all evening. I'm glad it didn't rain mind you, as this does wash off straight away. No scrubbing is necessary.
Would I buy it again? Well, to be honest I don't think that's going to be necessary for quite some time. I think this block is going to be very long lasting. I've used it a fair few times now and I can hardly tell it's been used at all. Eventually, when it does run out I shall buy another one as it is cheap and easy to use and great for when you just want some temporary tanning for a special night out. I have actually also used it on my arms and chest and the results are just as good as they are on my legs. Overall I am very pleased with this product.

Naturally I have very pale skin. I know it's naughty but in the summer I try and get out in the sun shine as much as possible to give myself a natural glow. I can't afford to go on the sunbeds continuously, and I really really shouldn't anyway! I was looking for a helping hand, to get me all glammed up for all the Christmas parties back in December, and I had a body shop voucher, so I headed there for some inspiration.
I came across this body and leg shine, for twelve pounds. It seemed like quite a lot of money, but I did have a voucher to go towards it, which made it seem like much more of a bargain.
The product is in a stick type form, a bit liek pritt stick, but more glamerous! The plastic twist up part is oval and out comes a hard shimmer block, which you rub over your skin to apply the product.
The idea is that if you have prepared your skin (it is previously well exfoliated and moisturised) then application should be easy and straight forward. It does take a bit of work to apply it evenly, and smooth, but with this sort of product you need it to work first time round!
I would recommend rubbing the stick over the skin very lightly (it is easier to add more if you have not done enough, rather than take some off!) and then using a pair of gloves (or washing your hands straight afterwards) rub it gently into the skin to get even coverage. No one wants patchy tan!
This product looks good on once you have mastered applying it, which I really think could be a lot easier. It is wash on wash off, so it has no fading or lasting effects. This is only a problem if you get caught out in the rain!
At this price there are quite a lot of fake tans to compete with, like the famous St Tropez, so I would probably only buy this again if I had a voucher or was on special offer, if not I would look around some more. I'm not in need of buying any, anytime soon, this stick should last me a good few rounds yet!
Body and Leg shine from the Body Shop is a fabulous addition to your make up collection. It comes in a deliciously tempting bronze coloured tube designed specifically to make you wish you had legs that colour. It is about 6cm wide, but only 2cm the other way at its fattest point. At the base of the tube is a screw button for twisting the product up and down similar to a Pritt stick. It is very easy to get at.
The product itself is a solid lump of waxy substance harder than lipstick, but not as hard as a candle. It is very dark bronze to look at but when applied to the skin does not hold to the same colour. In fact there is barely any addition of colour to your skin, but what is does do is to leave a layer of tiny glitter particles which reflect the light nicely making your skin shimmer and shine just like it says on the front of the tube. It also moisturises your skin with its waxy layer making it kook just that little bit healthier.
It can be applied anywher on your body but I find it works best on the front of my legs. I like to run a layer down my shin bone, not all over, the theory being that this will make my legs look thinner.
There is a slightly fruity/flowery smell to this product but only when you get up close for a good sniff. It certainly won't interfere with any perfume or body lotion you are using.
The only down side to this product is, as it has been made like wax, it will melt if left in a hot place. And after a while the sides of the tube can get a little sticky.
It costs £10 and comes in two shades, light/medium and medium/dark.
