We recently bought the Lego Duplo fire station for my sons third birthday. As the boys are currently obsessed with all things fire engine related we thought it was a safe bet for a sucessful present, and so far so good! The set is currently available on Amazon for £35.99.

The lego Duplo range is similar to classic lego but with larger bricks, making it easier for smaller children to use, and as such it is aimed at the 2-5 age range. This set is very easy to construct so my boys can have a good go at doing it themselves. The set makes a fairly large firestation with control tower, complete with a shute for the firemen to whizz down from the first floor. It includes three firemen and a station dog. The set also includes a helicopter, and a fire engine with trailer complete with a working siren and flashing lights (parents will be pleased to learn that unlike some childrens toys, the siren is not too loud!). The set also includes accessories such as flames, fire extinguisher, water hydrant, axes and hoses- everything a firefighter could need!

My sons have had hours of fun playing with this- as it's Duplo it is more adaptable than some other toys- the boys enjoy taking it to pieces and remaking it, and you can build it in different ways, encouraging their imagination (there are lots of ideas for how to build it on the box). Being Lego, the set is well made and unlikey to break, so I can see it being a favourite toy for years to come.
