Fans waited patiently for toy maker Kenner to produce a scantily clad Princess Leia for years. The idea of having her in that gold bikini was something every man in the world desired. What could be more fun than reenacting that key scene where she strangles Jabba The Hutt. Guys could have spent hours devising new scenarios with her in her bikini. Think of how fun bathtimes could have been! Sadly, Kenner missed out on this opportunity and chose instead to offer us one too many Ewoks. Shame. Years later, after Hasbro finally got round to making Leia in her slave outfit, Lego have had a stab too. What a sheer disappointment. Rather than capturing the delicate feminine beauty, Leia has come out looking more like Rita from Corrie in a cheap New Look esque bikini affair. Her hair colour is not a good match and the style is poor too. The facial features are probably as femine as Lego can go, but she still looks like a drag queen. The skin colour is a little better with a nice pinky white glow to it. This is let down by a lacklustre bikini though which fails to reignite the shimmering golden clad bikini Carrie wore in the film. Lego are going to be restricted with what they can put on an inch high figure, but this is still not a good likeness. It might appeal to kids who aren't bothered about the proper look, but true collectors will be furious that such a desirable figure has been so shoddily handled. There are other figures available in the range, so you could devise scenes where Leia romances a Stormtrooper or Boba Fett. On the plus side, the figure is quite cheap and you should expect to pay no more than three pounds for it. Personally, I would stick to the Hasbro version which is much better detailed and far more sexy!
