Advantages: Attractive Models, Three to Choose From

Disadvantages: Bit Pricy, Man Doesn't Fit

The Lego Street Speeder cost us £7.97 from Tesco and it's available from Amazon for £7.82. This is one of the models from the Creator range which means there are three models included here for the price of one. Obviously there are only enough bricks and pieces to build one model at a time, but it's still great for enthusiastics builders to have the extra instructions to take their model apart and build something new with the pieces.

It always fascinates me how they come up with some of their Creator designs actually. They use some really fiddly, specialist bits in their models these days and to get them to fit so perfectly in other models using most of the same pieces is quite an achievement really. The three models you can build here are a smart, chunky green car with doors that open, a streamlined racing car or an old fashioned style car.

We've only made one of these models and then kept it built up, the chunky car that's pictured the biggest on the front of the box. This took about twenty minutes to build because there were a lot of tiny details that went into this model. The grandson found it straightforward to build but he did wane in concentration a bit half way through. The set is for 6 to 12 year olds and I think most kids from about 8 to 12 wouldn't have a problem with this.

Once built up, this car looks really smart. It's chunky and sturdy which makes it ideal for little boys to race around the living room. There's a big drawback here though, and that's that they just didn't think the driver's seat through in this model! It looks like it should be big enough to fit a minifigure in, but it isn't. What's the point of having car doors that open if no-one can go through them?! The grandson found he had to remedy this by taking the roof off and making the minifigure sit in the middle of the seats.

A fun build but not as good value as the little Creator Pods offer. I do think the inability to sit a man inside makes this a bit of a let down too. I'm going with three stars on this one, I love Lego but this isn't their best effort.

Summary: Neither Recommended or Not Recommended!
