Advantages: Great for concentration and construction

Disadvantages: Hard to find if you mix it up

My son is absolutely mad for lego, and while I would be perfectly happy buying small sets of mixed colours and sizes of lego, there is something special about having a particular thing to build, with instructions and everything.

The only drawback of this is that it is likely to cost a bit more, as they can brand it and make it a unique selling point, and as such, this lego city police truck costs in the region of £30. It is currently available from amazon.co.uk for £29.35, which is decent enough.

What you get, though, is quite substantial for the price, when you consider that there are certain parts that require connecting to others with moving parts and special angles, and it's quite satisfying to get the whole thing done and keep it together to admire your handiwork.

This particular truck also comes with a command tower, a buggy and some figures, and the truck itself is quite impressive. The 2 sides of it swing up to open out and reveal a sort of mini communications centre on the inside, and there are various pieces of gadgetry made out of lego in there as well. The cab is well designed, and it's ncie to mix and match characters from other various lego things you may have to make the experience all the more better.

The set also comes with quite a few stickers, which is handy once you have taken it apart, as it makes finding some of the pieces a bit easier if you get them mixed up. Sadly, we had everything mixed together (2 decent sized tubs with all of his lego in!) and it took an absolute age to separate and find all of the bits again. Now we have it built for the second time, I don't hink we'll be taking it apart and mixing it up again, although he may have different ideas!

It's well worth getting as a present for Christmas or a birthday, as it's good for teaching kids to follow instructions as well as keeping them occupied and concentrating for long periods of time. My son has become quite adept at lego, and I find that this helps him in doing other things that require patience, following of rules and guidelines, and making sure things are done correctly and properly. It's worth having a quick shop around to see if you can find this for cheaper anywhere else, but at around the £30 mark, it's still a decent price.

Summary: Good product from the vast Lego range
