Advantages: lots!

Disadvantages: None!

My son loves building and playing with Lego. He is also a keen star wars fan so Lego star wars is an obvious choice for him! He now has quite a few sets in his collection, but the best is probably Luke Sky walkers land speeder, numbered 8092.

Inside the box are 163 pieces including 6 minifigures and a 38 step instruction booklet. The minifigures are a real plus with this set and include - Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, C-3PO and a sandtroper with sentry droid. The figures are really well detailed and Luke and Obi-Wan Kenobi both have their own lightsaber to hold. The sandtroper has a fabric cape and 2 guns carried in a removable back pack. The sandtroper also has a large gun to carry. Taking off the sandtroper's helmet reveals a featureless black face. Luke looks really sweet with his long hair and feminine looking features!

The model is fairly easy to build and the instructions are clearly written with detailed illustrations to help. The set is recommended for children from 7 until 12, although I know a few adult men who would like this! Younger children may need a bit of help to build this model, but it really isn't difficult!

Once build this model is quite sturdy, certainly more so than the V-wing fighter I recently reviewed! This makes is more fun to play with as bits don't keep breaking off! The figures can sit in the cockpit and there is a secret storage compartment at the back of the vehicle to hide the lightsabers from the sandtroper. The problem with the compartment is that it is too small to fit take the lightsabers unless you dismantle them! The minifigures can hold the lightsabers in their hands ready for battle!

Although this is a durable model it doesn't look as impressive as some of the others in the Star wars range. I bought this from Tesco when it was on offer and seem to remember paying around £20. It is widely available and is on sale with Amazon for £20.79. The R.R.P is over £25, although it can be found for a lot less.

Overall I can highly recommend this model. It is not too difficult to build so will give children a sense of achievement when they have completed it. Once build it doesn't fall apart when it is played with like many Lego models. However the real reason for buying this is for the minifigures. Many more expensive sets only include one or two figures and having 6 certainly adds to the play value!

Summary: Lego model with mini figures
