Lego Star Wars Darth Vader Alarm Clock
by princesschickpea
I bought this alarm clock for my partner, who is a huge Star Wars fan, and it went down a treat. He uses it every day, although, I have to admit, it doesn't exactly go with my carefully chosen bedroom décor!
The clock is great quality - thick chunky plastic with poseable arms, hands and legs, just like a real Lego figure! The ... head doesn't move, though that's hardly an issue. To be honest, I hadn't expected it to move at all, and had assumed the Lego Darth Vader was simply decorative casing for an alarm clock. When standing, the figure is about 9.5 inches tall. The clock itself is placed in the middle of the figure's chest and is approx. 2.5 x 1 inch in size. The numbers are nice and large and easy to read, and if you press down Vader's head, the time display lights up, which is great since it requires no early morning coordination - just bash him on the head to see the time! The clock doesn't talk or make any movie related sounds, which I actually prefer, but some people, especially children, might be disappointed with.
There are a number of buttons on the back, for setting the time and setting the alarm and they are really easy to use. Simply press and hold the 'time set' or the 'alarm set' button, depending on which you wish to do, then use the 'hour' and 'minute' buttons to change the time. The time the alarm is set for shows up on the screen in the bottom right hand corner. There is also a switch on the back to turn the alarm on or off. When the alarm goes off, it starts as a single beep, before changing to a double beep, and it gradually gets louder, so you can't ignore it no matter how much you try! To set the alarm to snooze, simply bash Vader's head again. To turn it off fully, you have to use the switch on the back.
My partner usually has Vader in a sitting position, and he uses his legs to keep his glasses safe during the night - an unexpected bonus feature. It takes 2 AAA batteries, which were included. The clock can be set to 12 or 24 hour modes. It is also available as a Stormtrooper. I bought the clock as part of Boots 3 for 2 Christmas promotion, which made it even better value, but to be honest, at around £20.00, I think it is well worth the money for any Star Wars fan (the Stormtrooper seems to be more expensive.) With no small parts it is suitable for young and old fans alike! I would highly recommend it. Read the complete review |
