Lego Star Wars Mini Figures Magnet Set
by benlepensive
Star Wars action figures get me hot under the collar and so do the little Lego models which are fast becoming collectors items in their own right. Cute little figures in the Lego guise, which you can use in your Lego games or for display purpose. These figures present a furhter twist on the Lego concept, with built in magnets. This means ... you can stick them on fridges to hold up bits of paper or you could still use them as regular Lego toys.
This is a very interesting three pack, comprising Yoda, Dooku and Mace Windu. Of the three, Yoda has the edge as he is the alien. A well designed green head with pointy ears and cute eyes make him look very much like the character from the films and even the beige robing has been captured very well. Yoda is about the same size though as the other two, so height proportions have not been considered here. I guess any smaller and they would not have been able to detail the toy.
Dooku is alright, though I am not sure he looks quite right. The beard is a little thick and he comes off looking more like Bill Oddie in black robing. He does benefit from a cool cloak though which is his highlighting feature.
Mace Windu is somewhat of a disappointment. The head looks like a squashed grape and the figure does not really capture the spirit of Samuel L Jackson at all. The colours on the costume are not bad, but the head lets this one down. Each figure does come with a lightsabre and the different colours is a great touch. You can move the heads and arms as you would with normal Lego figures.
I picked my set up for a few quid, but prices seem to be creeping up due to the rarity so expect to pay anything between eight to twenty quid for the set. Fun, useful for the kitchen and a twist on the conventional figures. Read the complete review |

Lego Star Wars: Boba Fett Keyring
by SoadFan
After a visit a while back to the Lego Shop, which was great fun, we picked out some mini sets and figures to give as gifts. Some of those were bought as stocking filler gifts for xmas and so when we came across the Lego Star Wars keyrings they were just the kind of small add on gift we were looking for.
The range of Star Wars ... themed keyrings include several different designs, but the one that is the subject of this review is a Lego Star Wars/ Boba Fett Keyring. These are a must have keyring for any avid Star Wars Fan and I can highly recommend them. Boba Fett is a Star Wars Legend! His part in the films may only be a little larger than the size of this keyring figure, but as a character he is very well loved.

Those that we gave the Boba Fett keyrings to as gifts are still using them to keep their keys on and I am certain the cute little Lego Star Wars figures still raise a smile even now.
Boba Fett is one mean dude! He is the bounty hunter of the Star Wars world. The most feared and revered bounty hunter ever! He was hired by evil Sith Lord Darth Vadar to find the Millenium Falcon spaceship, in the film The Empire Strikes Back. So its very fitting that Lego have deemed him interesting enough to produce him as a scary keyring dude!
**********************************************************
He may be small in stature at just 5.3cms x 5.3cms x 2.5 cms, weighing in at a lightweight 23g, but don't be fooled by that. Your Boba Fett keyring dude is mean enough to guard your keys day and night. He is made of sturdy Lego materials and is attached to a short key chain and ring. There is also a slim Lego logo block that comes attached.
The Boba Fett costume is shown in a slightly brighter green than the real Boba Fetts, but other than that he looks as real and authentic as any Lego Star Wars keyring can. Boba Fett looks mean with his mask like helmet, you can't tell if he is smiling away at you or giving you an evil stare. But either way, you wouldn't want to make this little dude cross would you?
**********************************************************
He has moveable arms and claw like bits that pass for hands. He can grip small Lego swords, light sabers, etc with each hand and his arms can be raised up or down. He can sit, as his legs bend at the waist, or he can stand. His head can turn from side to side too. No Boba Fett would ever be complete without his trusty jet pack and his little guy comes complete with that too.
The actual keychain and ring are very sturdy and should provide a nice safe place to hang your keys. I think we paid £2.99 for him and for the price, he has given his new owner a lot of laughs and done a good job of keeping all the keys in one place.
**********************************************************
These type of quirky things are always going to be a talking point and Boba Fett as a very popular Star Wars character would be a good choice for a small add on gift for any Star Wars fan.
Over all, I feel the Lego Star Wars/ Boba Fett Keyring deserves a 4 star rating. He is just pipped at the post by Chewbacca, Wicket and of course the Dark Lord himself.
Oh dear, what were you all thinking. Nooooo not Lawrence L-Bowen! Not that dark lord! I mean't the dark Lord Vadar of course!
....Mmm, his flouncyness, LL-Bowen on a keyring? Er no thanks!
**********************************************************
Think I will stick with the most feared bounty hunter of all times, even more feared than Dog the Bounty Hunter, the great Boba Fett! You know you want one to guard your keys too!
NB: Keyrings may not be 100% suitable for all due to small parts.
Care should be taken if buying for a child. Not suitable for children aged 5 years or under. Read the complete review |

Lego 6212 Star Wars: X-wing Fighter
by Matteos
The famous T-65 X-Wing was the all-purpose starfighter of the Rebel Alliance and its successor governments (New Republic). In the Star Wars universe it was known because of "an almost perfect balance of speed, maneuverability, and defensive shielding". The X-Wing is also one of the most (or even the most) recognizable space ... interceptors from the film - everyone remembers a characteristic X shape of its wings and the final assault of the Death Star. Now, it is ready for epic battles in your room!
The set contains 437 pieces (medium size). It isn't very complex, with the manual it is possible to build your own dogfighter quite fast. Anyway, >400 pieces construction still can be too difficult for small kids. But if they finally put the last piece... It looks great! A big, detailed starship with four laser cannons and a transparent cockpit. Just pure fun. The framework is solid (except the cannons), so young Star Wars fan can safely fly and fight with bad guys (7146 TIE Fighter for example). Unfortunately, some small parts are easy to lost. But this is Lego after all...
The box contains also 6 minifigures (it is more than usual): Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Wedge Antilles (one of X-Wing pilots), R2-D2 and... Chewie!. The model can be customized depending on your mood: one day you have Red 5 - Skywalker's interceptor from the Battle of Yavin, another other fighter. A very good set for everyone. Finish it and then... They're coming in! Three marks at 2-10! Read the complete review |
