Advantages: A toy that stands the test of time

Lego has come a long way over the years and alongside Monopoly is one of those toys or games that my parents can remember playing with when they were younger and also still existed in my childhood and if I ever have kids I'm sure they will play with Lego as well at some time.

Lego is basically plastic building bricks in its original form and even today when the lego kits that you buy are based on specific themes such as Star Wars or Harry Potter there is still that element of building something from scratch and then using your imagination to play with it, many sets are quite versatile so you can change them around and adapt the designs. The prices range hugely and it is still a nice cheap stocking filler or a more complicated bigger present if you want.

When I was little I enjoyed the fact that I was making something and can remember making a small village using the blocks to make houses and shps, it took me ages and was great fun. You could also get little Lego characters to populate it using the pieces from other kits.

Lego has been around for many years and has now expanded into video game formats as well as the Legoland Amusement Park near Windsor in the south east.
