“ Brand: Lego / Theme: Spongebob „
Whilst shopping in Boots at the Trafford Centre before Christmas I was trying to make the most of the three for the price of two promotions that they had on and so with two things in my hand I needed to find another item which would cost around the fifteen pounds mark. Being that I always manage to spoil my son to a ridiculous amount over Christmas it seemed natural to choose something for him and when I spotted the Lego Sponge Bob heroic heroes of the deep set I knew it would be something that he would really love and so purchased it.
The Lego came packed in the usual cardboard box which showed the ready made kit on the front as well as a inserted picture showing three characters you get with the kit and a cartoon picture of Sponge Bob himself. The box is colourful and does draw your attention in to the product as it gives you a really clear idea of what you are about to make when you open up the box. The kit advises that it is suitable for children aged five to twelve years which I would say is probably about right although some five year olds may need a little help in building the set.
This kit was one of the first things which my son actually got out and opened on Christmas day after he had unwrapped all of his presents. Once we had made a space on the floor where my son could build properly without fear of losing some of the pieces I allowed my son to open up the bag which was inside the cardboard box. I have always encouraged my son to separate the Lego pieces in to colours on the floor so that they are easily found when you come to build the kit and so I was pleased to see that this was something that he did.
Now with this kit you are actually building Sponge Bob and Patricks boat mobile in which they sometimes use when they dress up and act as super heroes in the odd episode according to my son. As the evil Plankton has stolen the krabby patty recipe from Mr Krabs Sponge Bob and Patrick must chase him and get the top secret recipe back. The instructions that come with the kit are really well presented, colourful and also take it in small steps which are manageable for a child which is something I really like about Lego products and I do feel some other brands of toys could take note from this. My son was able to follow the instructions independently and build the boatmobile meaning that he could take a real sense of achievement from his own work which I think is a really good thing.
The ready made boat mobile is bright and colourful featuring reds, yellows and blues so it looks like a really nice toy to play with. With this kit you also get a super hero Sponge Bob, Patrick as well as Plankton and you even get a small piece of Lego which is meant to show the krabby patty recipe on it and so there is real scope to actually play with this kit rather than just have it there as a display piece. My son has played with the boat mobile lots since Christmas and made up his own little games with it as well and it currently takes pride of place in front of our television in the front room as he refuses to let me put it away as he likes to play with it! It holds together well too which always worries me since we bought the Lego police station which seemed to fall apart all too quickly but this is not the case with this piece.
The heroic heroes of the deep kit is available from amazon for £13.99 which is a reasonable price to pay I feel and I can guarantee that all Sponge Bob fans who also enjoy building will love this kit. I feel my son has already had so much fun from using this kit that I can do nothing other than recommend it as an excellent purchase.
