Duplo Market Place
Both my son's have loved Duplo products from an early age. They have an extensive collection of Duplo from the basic bricks to actual sets like this particular product. My eldest son is four and a half and my youngest is three. For my youngest third birthday I purchased this particular set for him as he enjoys playing shops and I thought he would love to play this market with his Duplo people.
The market place Duplo set number 5683 (all duplo products have a unique number on the box) is a small set which includes twenty four pieces. The set comes in a cardboard box which has a lovely picture on the side to help make up the set for your child for the first time. The set is made up of some quite good pieces which move away from your basic brick. It comes with two figures the greengrocer and a lady plus a black cat that a lot of the sets seem to come with! There are the relevant basic bricks to make the market stall, along with a till and a small selection of food (breadsticks, sweetcorn etc) and a couple of crates for the food to sit in. As with a lot of duplo sets it comes with a vehicle. This time it is a green van which has a back door that pops up to pop the crates of food in to move around. Although the set seems to come with very little my son has had plenty of fun out of it.
As with most Duplo products the age range on this is two to five years. My eldest son is coming up to five years in a couple of month's time and although he does enjoy building this set up for his younger brother he tires of it quite quickly. The last few months I have noticed he prefers the smaller Lego brick to the Duplo one as it challenges him more and produces more detailed builds. As for my three year old son he still loves Duplo and in particularly this Duplo set. He has recently begun to build the market stall up himself and although he uses his imagination when doing so he make a very good go at it. But it's the playing fun he has once it is made up that he enjoys most. He loves pushing the van around the room with the food in the back making deliveries to his people. As we have plenty of other Duplo bricks he likes to build houses so he can make food deliveries to them. But that said I feel you don't need any more bricks for your child to enjoy this set and once they let their imagination run with them they can have plenty of fun.
All Duplo products are excellent quality and this one is no different. All the pieces are made from very thick good quality plastic and are perfect size for small hands. The vehicle the set comes with is a good size for a small child to push around and has plenty of space inside for your child to fill. My son has had this set for a good few months now and it has become a firm favourite of his.
As with everything you pay for you get. Duplo products are quite expensive but compared to other brands that do a similar product they are certainly worth it. This set is currently available at £20.99 and I feel that is a fair price.
