Advantages: easy to build
Disadvantages: hard to play with!
My youngest son is a keen Lego fan and especially loves the Star wars Lego range. With this in mind I decided to treat him using my Amazon vouchers and buy him the Star wars imperial V-wing starfigher set for his birthday. The set is numbered 7915 and costs £17.30 from Amazon, although they do seem to be changing their prices on a daily basis at the moment!
The set comes boxed with full and easy to follow instructions. It took my son about an hour to build the ship with only a little help! This set is recommended for children form aged 7, although at 9 my son could manage to build this for himself I think younger children would struggle.
The set includes all the bricks needed to build the starfigher plus 2 cute little mini figures; one droid (a little robot fellow) and one pilot (a small figure dressed all in black). Once built the star fighter is ready to fight! The Galactic republic has fallen and the clone wars are over. The v-wing star fighter is seeking sent to search for members of the rebel alliance! So how well does this model do?
The star fighter has wings that rotate to navigate between flying and landing. The problem is that as you rotate them they often fall off and need to be rebuilt! The top cover lifts up on the cockpit and allows the head of the droid to be placed inside. It is a bit annoying that only the head will fit in! The model comes with stickers to help make your fighter look really impressive. There are laser cannons fitted to the fighter so you are ready for battle!
My son really enjoyed making the star fighter and it did look impressive! It measures about 22 cm in length and is 12 cm in width, so is a good size. However he does get very frustrated when playing with this model as bits keep breaking off meaning it constantly has to be rebuilt! At least there are no batteries needed!
Overall this is a decent model for any young star wars fan and there two mini figures are a great addition. The model's R.R.P is £21.99,but you should be able to buy it for less if you shop around.
