The Monster Fighters Lego castle, is a great new set in the Monster Fighters range. This was bought for my Son for his birthday as a main gift. We Paid £69 for it, but depends on where you look, the rice ranges from £55 to £80. It is a really nice big box, with great artwork, spooky detailing and nice action scenes on the back of the box.
You get six mini figures with the Castle, two 'man Bats', who are the vampire bats the guard the castle, the vampire himself and his wife. They have a really nice glow in the dark feature, their faces glow in the dark. The vampire has a cool two piece cape, which gives him the great vampire look. The female vampire has a nice solid brick skirt which I have not seen before on any other figure. They both have reversible heads, with two different faces to choose from.
There are two monster Fighters figures included, with accessories. having bought this set with other Monster fighters sets, the hero figures do tend to get duplicated.
The set comes with a car, which is in the 'movie' chunky style theme again with a great net launcher. The net launcher is activated by pushing a plunger at the back of the net, firing it out. It is not spring loaded, which makes it tricky for youngsters to get the hang of.
Building the castle was great fun, and it was not too complicated. The instructions are set out over three books which makes it easy to build the separate parts.
It has a several hinged parts which means it can be set out to be a winding castle, or a long line with each piece next to each other.
There are lots of nice features, such as a spiked gate, a trapdoor with a spiked pit beneath, a coffin, the vampires bed, a secret stair case, that you can fold away. There is a skeleton figure that hangs in the prison which is a nice touch.
There are lots of nice little features that as you build and add them, you realise how quirky and cool they are. A cauldron, a treasure chest, a shelf full of potions and my favourite is a spooky organ in the attic.
There are several 'moonstone' pieces, which are the main feature in the tower of the castle, these can be moved back and forward on a pivot, which has a nice glow in the dark piece behind it.
There are several glow in the dark pieces, spiders webs, rats, and spooky glow in the dark stickers on the walls.
It is a really big set, with some really nice run down looking castle parts. Really looks like a movie set castle from the classic age of Monster Movies.
This is great value for money, and appeals to both children and adults. There are lots of peices that I have never seen before in the set, and the possibilities for re-building into different sets are endless.
This sets the stage for the final showdown with the Vampire, where he has gathered all 6 moonstones at his castle and is about to create a permenant eclipse, so his followers can roam free. Make sure that heroes Dr. Rodney Rathbone and Jack McHammer survive the castle's hidden spikes and traps to disable the moonstone device. Avoid the Vampire's Bride and the manbats at all costs. Includes 6 minifigures: Rodney Rathbone, Jack McHammer, the Vampire, the Vampire's bride and 2 manbats.
