Advantages: Cheap, quirky, kind of functional

Disadvantages: None!

I bought this as a Christmas present for a friend of mine for about £5. While wrapping it up mid-December, I found myself feeling extremely jealous and thought about keeping it for myself rather than giving it away. In the end I bought myself one as well, so now me and my friend both have these and they're wicked.

The torch itself is a big (about 7cm) version of the standard Lego man. The light is in the bottom of the man's foot and is operated by a switch on his chest. Like a standard Lego man, all the limbs, as well as his head, are completely poseable, which I really like. Unlike a real Lego man, however, he won't appreciate being pulled apart. He seems to be really great quality though, much like all Lego products.

The torch runs from two small batteries- the kind you would get in a watch. As one might expect. This doesn't make for a hugely powerful torch. It does its job just fine though: if you're looking for a torch to take with you on a camping trip in the Alps, you've come to the wrong place. If you're more concerned about its novelty value, you're probably going to be a little easier to satisfy. I use mine for looking for stuff in my bag at night, reading in the dark, etcetera. In fact, come to think of it, I don't really use the torch all that much, but it's nice to have it there when I need it.

All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase (as was my friend). Although the torch function doesn't really get a lot of use, it's still a great, quirky little keyring with a useful, practical element to it. This would be a great stocking filler for any Lego fan- and who isn't a Lego fan?

Summary: A nice item that would appeal to anybody.
