Chewbacca is a wookie. An eight foot something brown haired walking ball of fuzz! He made his first showing in the Star Wars film 'A New Hope' in 1977. The character was a huge hit with fans and various Chewbacca toys have come out over the years. I have collected the action figures from Kenner and Hasbro and now Lego have gotten in on the act with a splendid Chewie keyring.
Chewbacca has been made like any normal Lego man, about an inch in height, with legs that move and arms that raise up and down. This means you can include him in a standard Lego game. You can also use him as the keychain and attach him to your jeans, belt, skirt or handbag. Or you could just have him loose as a display piece.
The toy has wonderful design work. Chewie's fur has been articulated very well with a textured matte effect and the colour is bang on too. His sheepish eyes and pert nose look lovely and his titchy mouth is in proportion too. I might have had his eyes open a bit more though.
Lego have also got his strap correct, with the buckle effect lookinbg silver and shiny, just like it does in the film. In terms of the sizing of the figure, he should have been a couple of centimetres taller than the rest of the Lego figures, but as Lego make all their figures the same size, we shall overlook this faux pas! The moulding of the body shape is good and the toy is visually appealing for collectors.
If you want to get one of these, first try the online auction sites Like I do, where you can get them for about a pound or so or check online stores where you will pay about three pounds for the Chewbacca keychain.
