When I had my first baby I used bio oil to try to help prevent stretch marks but I found it's texture really not very nice, it was greasy and left me feeling a bit like I needed to have a shower to wash it off. I also thought it was expensive too for what it was so when my mum bought me this in my second pregnancy I thought it was great. It cost her £35 for 400ml and that was all I needed I didn't need any more tubes of it. This is a brand I hadn't heard of before but since then I have bought a couple of other products from them and find that they are very effective and nice to use although slightly more expensive than my usual products I buy. This gel is used to help prevent stretch marks and is recommended for use if you are likely to have fluctuating weight so not just in pregnancy but also puberty or if you are going through a big diet too. I wish I had had this when I was 16 as I lost a lot of weight then and was left with some stretch marks as a result so when I became pregnant I really didn't want to add to the stretch marks I already had. It comes in a white tube which sits on it's lid so that the gel is easy to dispense. I had it in 2 200ml tubes. The tube itself doesn't look anything special but then this isn't a cream that you're likely to have bought because you like the tube, you buy it for practical purposes- or at least I did anyway! It is advised to use this once a day. I think that bio oil was recommended to use several times a day so you ended up using more. This is just once a day and you should start using it in your third trimester of pregnancy and you should use it until you have had your first period after having the baby too. This is something I didn't consider at all, I just thought once the baby was here you stop using it but i suppose it makes sense as your body is still changing shape after you have the baby. It's recommended to best be used on the thighs, waist and hips. I'm not bothered about stretch marks on my thighs or hips as I'm not likely to have them out but it was my waist I was concerned about so I just applied it to this area only. It is a gel so easy to get out of the tube and I found it easy to apply. It isn't sticky at all and doesn't leave your skin feeling tacky or greasy. It seems to absorb nicely and then it's fine, my clothes never stuck to this and I certainly didn't feel the need to wash it off like I would with a different brand. It was very nice to apply and did leave my skin feeling quite smooth. It's ingredients are mainly plant based and help to improve the elasticity within your skin which will help it to stretch without causing scarring. Did it work? I can't be 100% sure if it worked but I didn't get any stretch marks when I used this so either it was just my body or it was actually this gel that worked. I like to think that it did work, it certainly didn't do any harm and it was quite nice to spend a few minutes each day massaging this into my skin. It may seem like a lot of money to pay but seeing as you only use it once a day I don't think it is bad value at all and it really seemed to help my skin remain soft throughout the last few weeks of pregnancy and those weeks after. I didn't use it until I had my first period after having the baby, I just used it until the tubes ran out which was at around 3 months. No new stretch marks appeared so I think this did help my skin.
