Corsets UK Corset Dress A3074
by chrisandmark
For Christmas Mark bought me a nice selection of pressies, including some money to order something 'nice'. For once he actually had a preference (usually I get full choice when it comes to bedroom wear) and wanted something black and red, specifying the word corset several times despite me keeping on assuming he meant a basque. I ... couldn't find anything I liked; at the risk of turning myself into a living breathing irony, I found most of the red and black corsets to be ridiculously tarty to the point of being comical rather than sexy. One I *did* love the look of only went up to a size ten (bah!), but several hundred of clicks later I found this wonderful Burlesque style corset with coordinating skirt at corsetsuk.co.uk
I couldn't wait for it to arrive, fortuitously postie bought it in the late afternoon during the Christmas holidays when our children were safely ensconced with my mum - so I tried it on straightaway! Ordering online can be tricky, obviously although it was Mark's choice he didn't venture into the ordering process - having previously been on the receiving end of both 'it's too big' and 'it's too small' comments he wouldn't dare guess at my size, I went for a 16 after reading a review which said to buy the corset in your normal dress size to attain the perfect fit.
The corset fastens with a row of hook and eyes, as well as lacing at the back. It's not the sort of garment you can slip on at the drop of a hat, I guesstimate it takes at least fifteen minutes of solid 'faffing' to get into the corset - do it on your own; there is nothing sexy about contorting yourself into the sort of positions you need to fasten the blasted thing, your partner really does not need to see the 'squeezing in' process. The hook and eyes are tiny and placed fairly far round towards my back, doing them up is a TOTAL nightmare - don't think it'll be easier to fasten them at the front and twist the corset into place, it won't and you'll be driven to the point of insanity when you feel the hook and eyes popping open as you move the fabric. No, you just have to learn how to do it - opening the lacing widely helps, but try not to let the ribbons come out of the holes as they're a nuisance to get back in. Unless you're one of the lucky few who have eyeballs on your shoulder blades.
The corset has a high quality feel and looks great. OK, so it's not going to win any sophistication awards but who cares when it feels so good to wear. The satin is soft and feels delicious once the corset is fastened tight, the boning is done well and helps the corset to form a natural feminine hourglass shape - there are twelve bones, which to me indicates quality (or at least helps to) as many non-top brand corsets have only eight or ten bones. The extra two in this corset allows them to be closer together and this makes a surprising difference to my shape compared to when I wear another corset in my collection which features just eight bones, they nip slightly as I'm pulling the lacing tight but once I've got the corset on properly and am all laced up I feel my body getting comfortable inside it!
The netting at the bust line is bizarrely scratchy, it made me itch the first couple of times I wore the corset but my not-very-sensitive skin soon adapted to the sensation and now it's the last thing I notice when I'm wearing it! I love the black bows, which keep their shape beautifully and won't start looking tatty after a few wears - I've checked anyway and even if they do go floppy it'll be no bother to snip them off and the style of the corset won't suffer too much for it. I love the shaping of the corset, and the fact that the embellishments end up where they should even when the corset is fully laced. The neckline isn't as sweetheart as it appears in the piccie, it gives more of a balcony effect to my boobs without the separation that would occur with a sweetheart shape. It's a bit annoying that the lacing won't go tight enough at the top to create the about-to-fall-out voluptuous look I favour in the bedroom, but on the plus side the relative looseness (this is not loose in the proper sense of the word!) means my boobs are more easily accessible to Mark than if I wore an even tighter corset!
The skirt is a fantastic addition, it was the thing that swung me into this particular purchase in fact. I've put weight on over the last year, it's coming off slowly but I'm not as confident about my body as I usually am - this tiny skirt covers a multitude of sins and made me feel so much sexier than when I wore the corset alone. It's a rouched satin/lycra skirt which compliments the corset in both style and feel; skirt is a bizarre word for it, I'd class it more as a valance than a item of clothing - but it feels great on! I think you'd have to be a special looking gal to get away with this corset outside the house (bedroom...), the skirt comes just to the bottom of my bum cheeks - I wouldn't be wearing it out even if I was going to a Vicars & Tarts party, although maybe would have considered it when I was eighteen and had no shame! I'm impressed with the way it hides the bottom of my tummy (damn those pesky kids!) and also helps my bottom to appear more streamlined - it's a very clingy fabric so you do need to wear it carefully, but for obvious reasons it's perfectly stretchy to a) allow me to move my legs freely and b) allow Mark easy access just by pushing the fabric up and out of the way.
For the relatively cheap price I'm surprised really that this garment acts as an actual corset, rather than just being lingerie. I feel like I've instantly lost weight when I wear it, the smooth and taut satin streamlining my shape visibly and also giving a sleeker line to the touch. It's amazing really, the boning goes a long way towards creating this effect but I also think the overall quality and build of the corset plays a part. I feel sexy when I wear it, I know I look sexy when I wear it (I control the level of lighting in the bedroom at all times) and Mark loves everything about it - too much unfortunately as he's not into sexy bedroom gear as much as I am and nags me too quickly to take it off, I'm not about to slip out of it immediately upon getting down to business because frankly it's too much of a pain to put on! He has to wait for skin on skin action after I've struggled my way into this corset for his titillation!
My only complaint is that the corset doesn't have suspender loops, something I didn't think to check when I ordered it. I was hugely disappointed when I realised as I love wearing stockings in the bedroom, I had a brainwave however and the next day stitched four suspender clips to the skirt - this works wonderfully and the pull of the stockings helps to streamline the finish of the skirt even more. Black stockings for me, but red would look stunning if you have the legs for it - if I was in a quirky mood I'd be tempted to wear white stockings to ring the changes, whatever colour leg-wear I go for I have to finish the outfit off with a pair of killer red heels which make me feel instantly sexy regardless of what I wear with them!
This corset is dry clean only, which is a pain in the backside. I washed it in cool water in the bath at the weekend and dried it over a warm(ish) radiator, when it's wet it feels strangely fragile so I'd recommend a soft touch as you clean the fabric - if you get a stain of any description on the corset you really need to try to remove it straightaway, marks show up pretty badly on this satin fabric so I avoid things like massage oil and lubes while I'm wearing it. This isn't a bother as in all honesty we don't tend to need 'added extras' when I'm wearing this amazing corset in bed, after it comes off (and I can finally suck in a proper lung full of air) we can use what we like - although I always make sure I take time to put this stunning item away rather than just slinging it on the floor!
If it wasn't for all the fussy detail I could well imagine myself wearing this as a shaping garment under my clothes, unfortunately the netting and ribbon work make this impossible as it creates too many lumps and bumps - if I'm showing off an hourglass figure I want people to believe it's mine, not the product of a tight undergarment. There's no modesty panel underneath the lacing and this makes it somewhat restrictive to wear anywhere other than in the privacy of your own home, if you're going to have bare skin on show while wearing an item like this you need to know how much you can get away with - at my age and my size I'd not be wearing it anywhere other than our bedroom, although I can definitely picture the sexy young things wearing the corset with a leather mini or skinny jeans for a complete head turner of a clubbing outfit.
I paid £27 for this corset and think it was worth every penny. I love to wear it, Mark loves me to wear it - everybody's happy! If you think you can't wear a corset but would like to try then I absolutely urge you to consider this one - it's available in sizes eight to twenty-four so even larger ladies can feel sexy and enjoy themselves in the bedroom. Ann Summers First Class Flirt
by VampirePrincess
As I had an Ann Summers party at my home, of course I treated myself to a few items! If you have a party at home you also get a discount!
Ann Summers - First Class Flirt Outfit:
'Ideal for fancy dress parties or just for bedroom fantasies, this 60s inspired air hostess outfit recalls the cute caps and high hemlines ... of a bygone, mile-high era.'
My Findings:
I have a lot of dressing up clothes, mostly from Ann Summers. One thing I will say when it comes to Ann Summers is that I think they do well on their sizes. My outfit is a size 12-14 which I think comes up slightly bigger than other shops that are that
This is something I personally like as if you're partying in the outfit or otherwise you don't want to look like this is painted on. Being just that little bit bigger makes it a better fit and certainly more flattering towards any lumps and bumps you may feel insecure about.
The outfit has a nice soft feel which again is important to me as I hate anything uncomfortable on my skin. It is a gorgeous flame red colour set off with gold hemming and buttons. It fastens up by press-studs along the front of the outfit. Stunning large golden buttons, so far I haven't had any issue with them just coming undone. (Unless someone is un-popping them of course)
Around the neck line and arms you have the nice gold detail; it is rather open at the front so a good bra is certainly needed. But you're able to show off a good amount of bust on this one, which I find makes this one hell of a sexy 'come to me' outfit. On the side of the bust area you also have the 'First Class Flirt' logo.
When I wore this I must admit I did feel rather sexy which is always a plus, as dressing up can sometimes bring out the insecure side. The fabric of the dress like a side is soft, but is also feels good quality, so I did feel rather comfortable and supported.
I'm five foot four and this outfit comes a couple of inches below my bottom, so wearing this on a night out some shorts I personally feel are needed. As it is rather short but that is how it is designed to be, if possible I would recommend trying this outfit on before hand.
Now there is one major floor in this outfit and that is the hat. It is small so you can not get it to fit on your head. There are no tabs for you to add any grips, so it will not stay on any longer that two seconds! So really the hat is well and truly points less.
For me the hat is well and truly an odd shape and the top of the hat looks inside out. So really bad designing there from Ann Summers! So I used my own item, and headband with a small red top hat, which look rather nice all together.
It is made from 100% polyester, washing at 40 no tumble drying and cool iron only. Mine washed really well.
Price and Availability:
With my discount from having a party I only paid £10.00 for this outfit which I am rather pleased with. Shop price is £25.00 which I think is an ok price however I feel you should get some stocking with the outfit.
Overall:
Apart from the awful hat I really do like this outfit, the flame red and gold detailing works really well together. The overall fit is wonderful, so yes I would certainly recommend this outfit. End of December Ann Summers normally have a good sale, so you may well grab this at a bargain price!
Four out of five stars from me.

Marie Meili Dark Red Satin Lace French Knickers
by walsha11
I've already reviewed the matching bra that goes with these knickers so if you want the back story then have a read of that review. The long and short of it is that I bought this set for Christmas as a festive addition to the bedroom because I suffer from long distance relationship syndrome.
I ordered them from the New Look ... website and had them delivered to my closest store for free. Returns are also free with click & collect or from the post office so I knew I wouldn't be wasting any money purchasing these.
What initially appealed to me about this set was the bra, which combines the beautiful red satin and white lace in the same way the knickers do. I loved the balcony style of it so really the knickers were a bit of a second though that I simply wanted because they matched.
I do love the way they combine that stunning pinky red colour with a classic white lace, and have little added extra accessories like the simple white coloured beads and satiny ribbon. Having looked at them only through pictures I decided the knickers looked okay and as I wanted the bra decided to give them a try.
I'm not a huge fan of these 'short' style briefs as I think they look a little manly and aren't the most flattering style unless you have that kind of boy figure with no bum. I prefer my underwear with a high leg cut, though still with the same coverage over the bum (I'm not a thong fan). As predicted I don't think the cut is the most flattering thing ever. There is so much material that it makes you look a little bottom heavy, which if you are already isn't the greatest thing. I think it draws too much attention to this area of the body which is a shame because personally I want my breasts to be the focal point.
Probably my biggest issue though is that there are slits in the side of the pant. This gives the impression that they don't fit properly and have therefore been slit in order to accommodate your oversized posterior. Not great. I feel like the design of these is so ill conceived that they can have only been designed by a man!
It really is such a shame because the bra is really beautiful and they could have made a great set of knickers to go with it, all the basic features are there but the design is so unflattering. I paid £9.99 for these which is pretty overpriced for a pair of knickers anyway. I did get an additional 99p off with student discount which I am glad about but overall I am pretty disappointed by these.
I am keeping them, however, because I love the bra so much and there is no alternative brief to go with this set. I am disappointed but the purpose for which I bought them, a bit of festive cheer in the bedroom, means I won't be wearing them much.
Basically it is annoying to have to compromise a lovely bra by wearing these ugly and unflattering briefs. Read the complete review |
