“ Brand: Ann Summers / Type: Costume „
I bought this dress from an Ann Summers party I went to about six months ago. I have been to loads of ann summers parties and I love going because its a really fun experience and all the girls get to chat and everyone seems to let their guard down and just be honest about things and really enjoy themselves. Some people get a bit shy at first but as the night goes on they normally just relax and end up having a great time. The only problem I find with going to ann summers parties is that after a few drinks and in such a chilled out environment I always end up thinking to myself why the hell not, and end up ordering loads of stuff which costs a lot of money. Like recently I went to one promising myself I wasn't going to buy anything, but I came back with an order for a pair of boxers for my boyfriend, loads of kinky accessories, as well as a couple of new outfits which I will write reviews about as soon as I've tried them all out properly.
The reason I chose this outfit is probably because I liked the thought of arresting my boyfriend. We love playing with handcuffs so I thought why not take things a step further and get dressed up in a police womans outfit when we do it. It makes things seem more exciting when we add a bit of costume and role play and we love adding these things in the bedroom. Ann Summers has a great range of all different kinds of outfits such as naughty nurse and maids outfits as well as a whole other different choice of costumes. I like all their costumes and I love dressing up in them as most girls do. Wearing the outfits can not only make things more exciting but they can be good for making you perhaps feel more confident in the bedroom as then you're playing a role. So for some girls that could be an advantage to wearing a costume.
The thing I don't like about Ann Summers is the prices because everything is always really overpriced and the quality isn't always that good. For some of the outfits at full price you can expect to pay up to £40 which I think is too expensive for the quality. Also they don't come with stockings included so you have to pay extra for these sometimes and you also have to spend more money on accessories. So if you wanted a full costume with accessories it could end up costing you quite a bit of money. You could always get your boyfriend to pay for it for you though!
I only paid £20 for this from a party because it was in the sale but I know if it wasn't in the sale it would have probably been about £40 and I don't think I would have paid that much for it. It was worth £20 though as we have used it a few times and I love pretend arresting my boyfriend and he loves being arrested by a naughty police officer.
When choosing what size to buy from Ann Summers I always go for a size bigger than what I am anywhere else. I don't know why but all their outfits seem to be really small. I'm quite tall and my normal size 8 or 10 is never long enough. But sometimes when I go for a 12 it looks too big and is especially too big in the boobs area. But I managed to be lucky with this and a 10 just about fits me. The skirt is very short but thats the look you want with a bedroom outfit like this. You could always wear it as fancy dress but I haven't got chance to wear it to any fancy dress parties yet as I normally dress up as cat woman for fancy dress parties wearing my favourite costume which is my cat suit.
I've washed this once, I've only needed to wash it once as it never stays on for very long, and I do think it has damaged the quality of it a little bit, I defintely wouldn't want to risk putting this in the tumble dryer. I like the outfit and think it looks good, fits well, is great for role play, wasn't a bad price (only because it was half price in the sale though) but the quality isn't the best. I would definitely recommend this though because of all the good memories I have with it lol. The only other disadvantage I can think of is when it comes to getting it off, it would be easier if there was a straight down zip or something but the design does look really pretty so I'm not going to moan too much about that.
I am going to give an honest and as accurate as I can review with regards to this Ann Summers outfit.
I am not going to fib to you about why I bought it, but I am not going to give you all the gory details!
I bought this Miss Arrest Policewoman outfit not so long ago online for £35.00. For standard delivery, they charge £3.95 for all items under £35.
The dress is made from 81% Polyester, 17% Polyamide, 1% Cotton, 1% Elastane
The hat from 72% Cotton, 20% PU, 8% Polyester
The tie from 65% Polyester, 35% Cotton
The item is machine washable and comes in size in 8- 24.
The dress has a belt separating it making it look like a skirt and top. The top part has a VERY plunging neckline which the tie sits in, and the skirt is mainly netting. and is also VERY short!
I think the quality of this dress is pretty good. It washes up well and is tricky to iron, but just about manageable. It is also very stretchy, so as long as you get it in the right size, fits like a glove. It is tight, but don't worry about your lumps and bumps; if like me you have a bit of a mummy tummy, the big belt covers it!
The only negative thing I will say about this outfit is the hat comes off easily. So I sewed in a little kirby grip and attached it to my hair. It was more secure then :)
It was my friend birthday recently, and she decided on a police theme for the night, asking everyone to dress up. Not having a lot of free time to cobble together an outfit, I decided to pop into Ann Summers as I know they have some fairly decent dress up costumes in store.
The costume I selected was the Miss Arrest plice woman costume, which comes as pictured above. It includes a dress that is white on top, with a black skirt over a sort of mesh petticoat. Also included is a shiny black PVC effect belt, a checked black and white tie on an elastic loop, and a round flat, police style cap. This costume came with an original price marked at £40, but has been reduced to £35. It is available in sizes 8 to 24.
I purchased mine in a size 16, and I must say it was a very comfortable fit. The material of the shirt part of the dress is quite light and stretchy, which I liked , as sometimes my boobs can make fitted dresses look awful and bulgy. I particularly liked the peep-hole sort of effect going on with the top half of the dress - it made my boobs look rather large and really draws the eyes attention, yet at the same time feels incredibly supportive and not at all like I am overexposed or likely to pop out . There is some black and white checked detailing over the boobs, which helps to highlight the fact that this is a police outfit, especially when combined with the other accessories.
The skirt part of the dress is really fun and flirtatious, especially with the netting creating a sort of puffy effct . It is however extremely short, barely skimming over my bum. Not being quite brave enough to wear something so short alone, I deliberated about buying some hotpants to go with the outfit, but finally settled on wearing some black leggings and high heeled boots with the dress. It would take a braver woman than me to wear this with nothing beneath.
The tie is easy to put on thanks to the elasticated loop, and the shiny black belt is wide and very comfortable, with plenty of notches for adjustment. I did find the hat a little frustrating though - it seemed a little too shallow to my head, and not very secure when wearing. In fact, the only way I could keep it on securely was to bun up my hair and slip the hat over it, the bun acting as an anchor. This, unfortunately, meant that I didn't really have many options for making my hair look nice.
Having tried the outfit on and paraded it around for my very appreciative boyfriend, I was happy in my outfit choice and confident I would look good on my night out. My friend then dropped the bombshell - the theme was changing to school girls.
Having removed the tags from my dress, I was unable to return it to the store, so I set about seeing what I could do to alter the outfit to fit the new theme. Actually, It was incredibly easy - a tight black cardigan knotted under the boobs covered up the policewoman pocket detailing and only made my boobs look bigger, and the addition of a stripy tie instead of the included one made it look just like a school uniform. Putting up my hair in pigtails and adding a prefect style badge completed the look. I was quite pleased as I'd now managed to get two looks out of one outfit with a few simple additions.
Unfortunately, on the night out, a rather enthusiastic dancer at the club we were in managed to soak my outfit in beer. The material on the top of the dress feels horribly tight and clingy when wet, and takes an age to dry naturally. Sticking my boobs under the hand dryer seemed to do the trick, and luckily the dress is machine washable (inside out on a low temperature) which shifted the beer smell and mess. The dress is not fit for machine drying or ironing, but luckily comes out of the washing machine uncreased and looking as good as new - ready for future nights out (or in!).
Overall, I'm very happy with the outfit - doubly so as I've managed to make it work two looks . The hat is probably the one let down. I do appreciate that people have differently shaped and sized heads, and it probably would fit many people quite comfortably, but it just didn't work for me, and for that reason I am deducting one star.
