Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm Tube

I got this lip balm in a gift set along with several mini sized items for use on the body. This lip balm, however, can be purchased on it's own in the same sized 4.25g tube. Burt's Bees make several different varieties of their lip balms. This one is the Beeswax lip balm with Vitamin E and Peppermint.
The product comes in a ... stick form. The tube is small and made from yellow plastic. It has a pop off top and a screw mechanism at the bottom of the tube which extends the lip balm when you twist it. This bottom section has a ridged style so that you can grip it with you fingers more easily. The balm can be extended or retracted according to how much you want to use it.
Burts Bees is a company I first saw in my local health food store. They are a unique brand who specialise in making natural products. They have high ethical standards and do not test on animals. They also take care to ensure their products have the least environmental impact. The brand currently sponsor The British BeeKeepers Association as they use substances such as beeswax and honey in their products.
Burts Bees claim this lip balm is "hard-working" and is "formulated to heal, repair and moisturise". The tube is printed with the promise that this product is "100% natural".
The lip balm is a waxy, glue coloured substance. I have used a lot of lip balms from different brands an in comparision this one looks firmer and drier. When you extend it you can smell a strong fresh mint aroma. This scent is invigorating and lively. It's about as strong as a minty toothpaste would be.
The lip balm does not instantly melt against warm lips. It has to be warmed up a little bit before the substance starts to become softer and spreadable. You have to rub it over your lips a few times before the balm melts fully and gives total coverage. Since the balm is quite stiff at first it means that the skin on your lips can feel a bit pulled and tight as you apply. This is not particularly comfortable when your lips are dry or cracked.
When you first apply the balm it makes your lips tingle and throb. It has a similar sensation to a lip plumper. It's an odd feeling, not unpleasant but simply strange. It is like your lips are warm and cold at the same time. It certainly lets you know that your lips are covered in the product. It continues to radiate on the lips for some time after applying but eventually your lips get used to the sensation and it dies out.
The lip balm does not feel as succulent or moist as other lip balms I've used. In fact when I purse my lips together they seem to stick as the balm feels quite dry. As far as making my dry lips feel comfortable I would say it provides an average experience. Other lip balms such as Vaseline or Lypsyl are much more juicy and moist.
This lip balm makes your lips look healthy. It does not colour the lips in any way as the balm is like a vaseline colour. It is a good base for lip stick or lip gloss. It's actually quite a good lipstick base because it means lip colour stays put on your lips due to the consistency of the balm.
I actually thought this lip balm might be really good and suitable for a lip balm addict like me as it is quite expensive compared to the well known brands you find in chemist chains and supermarkets. It costs around £3.69 and it's usually about this price no matter where you buy it from. I've seen these products in Holland and Barratt and on Amazon online. You can also buy direct from the Burts Bees website. I would say that I suffer from dry lips regularly and that I use lip balm several times a day. This lip balm is not moist enough to satisfy me or make my lips feel as comfortable as they ought to be when fully protected. I like the minty aroma and the fact that the ingredients are natural but these things can't outweigh the fact that this balm just isn't moist enough for me. I personally need a balm that is of a wetter consistency and wouldn't recommend this to anyone with very dry or sore lips. Continued use does not seem to improve quality of skin on the lips either, despite the softening Vitamin E ingredient. I therefore would not opt to buy it again.

Burt's Bees Replenishing Pomegranate Lip Balm

Because i have always had combination skin, i find at times that my lips crackle and dry out literally overnight with no warning. Ive tried all the obvious products, such as Vaseline, Carmex and most other lip balms i can get my hands on. i always found they soothed my skin yes, but my lips remained cracked and dry.
Yet, ... thanks to one -mostly tedious and boring shopping trip last summer i found myself in Boots, and whilst perusing the isle's i found this little beauty. the product is usually more than id be willing to spend on something like lip balm but guys, its totally and utterly worth it. within two lip-smothering applications, minutes later my lips were dry no longer! back to their usual pout-ey and smooth selves!
Burt's Bees Replenishing Pomegranate Lip Balm is my one and only lip salve now. and not to mention, it lasts, it really does. as i said i got it last year and use it most days and Ive still about a third of it left! Its completely made me fall in love with the rest of the range too. i really cant praise it enough.

Burt's Bees Nourishing Mango Butter Lip Balm Tube

I bought this lip balm recently when I was on holiday as I was noticing my lips were becoming drier. I have always been a fan of Burts Bees products as they aim to use mostly natural ingredients and have really good branding, which draws me in! This lip balm is stated as being 100% natural, which makes me feel like it is full of ... goodness!
A tube of this balm contains 4.25grams of product, which is a good amount as I can carry it around in my handbag without much issue and it will last a good amount of time. I have used this lip balm since September and still have over half left, so it will last a good two to three months, even with lots of use! The balm comes housed in a twist up stick with an orange lid which clips on top of the tube. The lid holds really securely and never comes off in my bag, which means it never gets any gunk in it which is great!
So, onto the balm itself... It's made of lots of different moisturising ingredients, including coconut oil, coconut oil and mango seed butter, which all adds up to a lovely cocktail of goodness for the lips! Once applied the balm gives a lovely sheen to the lips and leaves a thin layer of moisture which stays for around an hour, although it will wear off faster if you are eating/drinking etc. The scent is also strongly of mango, which I adore!
I have found that my dry lips were well nourished with this balm and I haven't had too much of a problem with dry lips since I began using it, which is a major plus point for this product! I use several different lip products, but this one has definitely contributed to keeping my lips nourished and smooth. The balm is also great value as it retails from between £3-4, but can be found cheaper online.
