Tinted lipcare from AVON is a great concept - an SPF15 encased in a lipstick. As per my earlier review on SPF lip balms, I likened my lips to that of a cricketer when using SPF lipbalms as my lips often go very white. The concept of tinted lip care is to have a shimmer of colour when using an SPF lip balm and AVON produce this item in bronze (yellow), pink and orange. All of which I have tried.
I think the tinted lip care shades are quite nice but look much better on bronzed skin than pale skin. When using them in the UK, the shades seem to wash out my face wayyy too much as they are quite pale with just a hint of colour. Against bronzed skin, my lips look quite sultry (I'd like to think so anyway ha!) and the colours don't wash me out quite so much. The bronze shade in particular is bad for washing you out, and as I said, in the UK against my pale white skin, I just look quite frankly ridiculous.
So we've established using it abroad in the sunshine is the way to go but the bad part of tinted lip care is that it is just like a lipstick in the shape, the make up, the packaging and the consistency. Unlike other SPF lip balms which tend to be quite hard and waxy, this is definitely more like a lipstick. What do lipsticks do in the heat? They melt! And this is no exception. If you leave this in your beach bag or handbag for any prolonged length of time and try to use it, "mush" is the only way I can describe what it looks like. The lipstick breaks and mushes into the sides of the plastic container. Not good.
In terms of SPF it isn't too bad, but isn't too good either. I suffer from cold sores when I sit in the sun for too long without SPF on and I can't say this protects me completely like a "proper" SPF would. I still suffer from chapped lips and the odd cold sore but much better than if I used nothing at all.
The concept behind tinted lip care is good - Avon have tried to make a bog standard SPF into a nice makeup product. Unfortunately it hasn't worked very well and despite being daft enough to buy more of them when they "mush" in the sun, I don't think I'll be buying any more in the future. For £5 they aren't too bad but I would rather pay more for a proper SPF lip balm, even if I do look like a cricketer!
I chose to order this from Avon because I always suffer, and always have suffered, from really chapped, dry, horrible lips. As someone who used to be my friend was always pointing out to me, they looked dry and nasty, and horrible - this is why they are no longer my friend! :)
They were always really sore and although vaseline worked sometimes the effects of it never seemed to last so one day when I was flicking through the Avon brochure and came across this lip tint, I decided to buy it. I chose to get this in the shade 'pink' because it sounded a nice girly shade and I didn't want something too much like 'red' because I wanted to wear this every day, and red might have been too much. Also I'm not really a fan of bronze lips (bronze and red are the other two shades by the way) so this is why I went for pink.
This is normally £5 and I think this is an alright price although do look out for some good offers as Avon usually have some very good deals on and you might get this for a bargain. In fact I only spent £3 on this and I think it is definitely worth it.
You can see what it looks like in the picture. It looks posh like a lipstick and not like any normal lip chapstick or tin of vaseline. I'm a fan.
This really looked after my lips and brought them back to life. It moisturised them really well and they felt smooth and soft after I had put some of this on. I use this all the time now and would definitely recommend it to anyone who has chapped lips as it will fix them for you.
I bought this from the avon catalogue when it was on offer for £3 instead of the usual brochure price of £5. I don't really wear too much lipstcik in the daytime, I prefer a lipbalm, but I do like a bit of colour so i thought i'd give this a try. I bought the pink shade and when it arrived and i opened it, it is actually white. The casing is also white so you are not likely to lose this in your make up bag amogst other lipsticks.
I have now been using this lipbalm for over 3 months, and i think it is ok. Not bad, but not great. the colour is a shimmery pink/lilac sort of colour and looks great on, but it doesnt last very long, you only have to have a cup of tea and you're re applying. Another thing i would have to metion as with all lip balsm would be storage temperature, this would not be the sort of thing to take away on holiday with you as you may find it had melted when you go to use it. It is a light product, although i prefer to feel my lips are moisturised and comforted. I will keep using it until its ran out, as it has lasted me quite a while but next time i'll opt for something a bit thicker.
Honestly i prefer something a
I regularly receive the Avon catalogue and theres always a bargain to be had such as this tinted lip care! Now Avon have some fantastic products and are really a recognisable brand so you know your getting top quality no matter what you buy!
I bought this for only £3 on offer! It really was a bargain considering it offers moisture and colour, i had to have it in this cold, damp weather. There was a few tinted shades to choose from but easily i chose the pinky tint, which didnt appear too vibrant but instead natural.. just what i was looking for.
The packaging when it arrived was a simple all white container, with a decent lid that wasn't going to fall off but no application or use by date notices which dissapointed me. The packaging was rather basic, but to be honest most Avon products are.
The lip care itself was easy to apply and really glided across your lips no matter how dry they were and mine were extremely bad due to the cold winds and snow so this will really suit all skin types. As soon as i applied it, i could feel the moisture kicking in and instantly gave my lips a smooth, shining finish without the dry patches! It absorbed well into my lips without looking like lip gloss, which is fantastic as i wanted a natural look. The pinky tint was great, very subtle but enough to notice in some glimpses of light. Gave a different look to the ordinary no colour vaseline which i really liked. This could be used for a night or day look as i found out the more you applied, the pinkier the tint got so you could suit your mood here!
It lasted for a few hours, still with its natural looking glow and colour, and kept my lips moisturised even through the strong winds outside, very pleasing! I do apply it several times a day and can really not get enough of it. A neccesity like vaseline with a gorgeous tint, what more could you want!
