      For £1 cannot complain too much

      Item: Blistex Lip Brilliance
      Size: 3.7g
      Colour : It is a sheer shimmery glittery pink, although cannot see an actual colour name on the packaging
      Price: £1
      Bought in: Superdrug

      I am a sucker for a till side promo. This was sat at the side of the cash till in Superdrug and the girl serving me asked if I wanted to try it for £1. I usually much prefer a thicker gloss but at a £1 I just said yes!!! Oh my, there's where all my money goes haha

      Packaging and design:
      This lip balm didn't come on the card that is shown on the picture above. It was just wrapped in a clear wrapper with a barcode on it, that came off when you pulled on a perforated section. Not sure if packaging has recently been changed to reduce need for recycling or if it had been a production issue and that's why it was selling for a £1 but the clear wrapper was adequate and until I saw it came on a board in the picture above, I wouldn't have questioned it not having enough packaging. The lip balm itself is in a "lip stick" style in that it comes in a tube with a lid and the bottom of the tube rotates to allow you to push more the solid lip balm shape out. The tube is shimmery salmon pink colour with red and white writing on it. The name "Blistex" is written across the tube three times and it details under it "Lip Brilliance". The tube itself doesn't actually say what colour or flavour it is, and I had just assumed that the lip balm inside would be the same colour as the tube and some kind of "berry" fruit flavour, luckily I was right. The tube also does not actually say that it is lip balm, which is weird, it just says that it is "lip brilliance" but on opening it you can clearly see it is lip balm and the colour of it. Plus because it is made by Blistex I also just assumed that it would be lip balm. The tube is 6.5cm long and the lid is actually 5cm in length so closes over the majority of the tube making it quite secure and when you roll the lip balm up full before first use, it is 3cm in length, I wouldn't recommend that as it may snap off but I only did that to see how much was in there. The section at the bottom that you turn to put the lip balm up is really easy to turn so you can get more out easily as and when you need it.

      Colour, smell and how does it make your lips feel?
      The colour as I mentioned does not have a specific name on the tube but when you open it you see an almost red balm with glitter through it. When applied to your lips it is actually a salmon pink glittery, shimmery colour. It is very smooth and light when it goes on and spreads easily across your lips. The colour shows lightly over your lips and the colour will be dependent on your actual lip colour as it really is more of a shimmer than a solid colour. Once you have it on it will come off when you eat and drink and leaves a deep pink mark on your coffee cup. I would say I can wear it for around 30 mins before I feel I want to reapply it. Once on and when the balm has started to come off you can then feel the tiny bits of glitter and that feels a little bit like dust in your lips, not bothersome enough to need wiping off, just be aware you will feel the little bits of glitter as the balm wears off. The colour doesn't stain your lips either, it just wears off. The smell is like artificial strawberries, which seems appropriate given the colour but again as it doesn't mention that on the packaging if you don't like that you will get a nasty surprise.

      This calls itself "Lip Brilliance". I would say that it's not exactly brilliant but it's not bad either. The packaging is a decent design and stays closed, I liked the colour and smell but the balm really didn't make my lips and better or worse than before I used it so will take one star off for not actually being "brilliant"

      Blistex Lip Brilliance Blushing SPF 15

      I always make sure that I wear sun screen on my lips in summer and especially when I am going abroad because the sun not only dries them out but they are also really sensitive to the sun and can burn and get damaged really easily.

      The easiest way of making sure that I am wearing sunscreen on them is to use a lip balm that contains an SPF in it. There are loads to choose from these days and you can pick up this one from Blistex for around about £2.50.

      I love Blistex cream when my lips are sore and dry as it works so well to get them back to looking their best and not feeling sore anymore and this is good at stopping my lips from drying out in the first place and it is just a shame that there is something about it which I dislike enough that it stops me using it often.

      It works perfectly as a lip balm and makes my lips really soft and stops them from drying out. It makes them smooth and stops dry skin flakes from forming. It contains vitamin E, grape seed oil and silk extracts and these really work to make my lips nice and soft and perfectly hydrated.

      It also contains hyaluronic filling spheres which are supposed to make lips appear fuller and while I am a bit dubious about this claim my lips do look lovely and plump when wearing this but I think that is more due to how conditioned they look rather than anything artificially plumping them up.

      As well as being a brilliant lip balm this also gives my lips a slight tint of colour. The colour is lovely as it is subtle and natural looking but it really does enhance the colour in my lips and makes them look rosier which is a really nice effect.

      What I really don't like about this lip balm is the smell and taste. It is strawberry flavoured so in theory I should love it as strawberry is one of my favourite smells but this is just sickly smelling and it has an absolutely horrible taste when I lick my lips which is really off putting and actually makes me not want to wear this as often because I just dislike it so much.

      It is such a shame about the smell and taste because everything else about it is so good. It moisturises well and stops my lips getting burnt and also has a nice tint of colour to it but because of the taste it is one that sits in my handbag and only really gets used when I have forgotten to bring another one with me.

      I LOVE IT - Best lip balm

      ..::Why I Bought The Product::..
      I have naturally very dry lips so I am always on the lookout for lip products that will improve and relive this. Over the years I have tried many different products from high end to drugstore. When spontaneously buying this to try out, I was very pleasantly surprised.

      ..::Pricing & Where To Buy::..
      I bought this for £1.50 as a special offer in boots, however the RRP is now £2.50 in Boots, Tesco and Superdrug. You can find it in pretty much every drugstore and it is also available in many supermarkets.

      ..::Overview::..
      This is a 3.7g lip balm which is pretty much an average size. It comes in a lipstick style container which can be twisted up when more product is needed. The casing is a pink shimmery plastic which is durable. Thr product itself is also a shimmery pink and smells very fruity. When applying the product, it leaves a very slight tint to the lips as well as moisturising them.

      ..::My Opinion::..
      I LOVE IT
      This is by far one of my favourite lipbalms. It smells delicious and and really does moisturise your lips. I tend to use this to soften my lips and then use my MAC lipsgloss on top of it for a gloss effect. I have owned it for a few months now and I apply it numerous times a day - it is still pretty much half full which is quite good. There is not really anything bad that I can say about this product, it is well worth the money and does exactly what it is supposed to.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Worth the price and a comfort to know it's in my pocket.

      OK, so now I'm going to own up to buying yet another lip balm, in my defence it was bought around a year ago whilst out shopping in York when I went out without one in my pocket and my lips were dry and ... well you know the rest. I reckon I own more than 60 lip balms in various guises and this one's been in my 'posh' coat pocket that I rediscovered on valentines night.

      Purchase
      I paid £1.99 for this from Boyes stores, a shop that sells everything. I didn't give much thought to the purchase. It was pink, it spoke to me from the shelves and I am familar with the Blistex brand, I don't tend to buy 'no name' products for my lips as I prefer brands I've heard of.

      First impressions
      When I left the shop I ripped my new purchase from its card in my keenness to use it. I removed the cap (a long one, good, easier to keep hold of) and twisted up the lip balm and to my horror it was a dark raspberry pink colour! This was not in the plan but stranded, I applied it, bravely, blind and hoped it was not as dark on the lips as it looked in the tube. It smelt fresh and fruity though and through the day I reapplied it a few times.

      So was it ...?
      I looked in the mirrors when I went to lunch and phew! It applied sheer with just a tint of pink, so no it was not dark pink on application hurrah! It was nice and moisturising and became a firm favourite whenever I wore my posh coat. More recently it has made it to my jeans pocket ranking it number one in the heap of lip balms in my life.

      My thoughts
      I far prefer this to the tinned varieties I have as I don't struggle to open it. I find it a half way house to make up and a quick fix for dry lips. I am using this lots every day due to the bad weather and whilst it won't get pinched by the men in your life, it's a lovely fruity flavour for a quick peck from your other half.

      Final word
      I shall look out for this Blistex beauty again as it's one I fully intend to replace, despite the number of lip products I've admitted that I own. It's fun and not too little girly although my two year old begs for some on her lips when she sees me using it! Worth the price and a comfort to know it's in my pocket.

      Disadvantages

      A lovely lip balm which softens, protects and beautifies the lips

      My lips frequently get dry and cracked both in the summer and in the winter. I am always buying different products for my lips but I am also always losing them... Which led me to purchase the Blistex Lip Brilliance on a recent trip to Boots.

      What does the product do?
      The product softens the lips using Silk Extract and both strengthens and nourishes the lips using Vitamin E while protecting the lips from sun damage, keeping them looking younger for longer. It also contains Hyaluronic Filing Spheres which make the lips appear smoother and fuller. The balm is a shimmering pink colour to give a splash of colour to your lips leaving you with an all round prettier smile.

      How do you use the product?
      The product can be applied to the lips as often as needed.

      Packaging and Price
      The product comes contained within a salmon pink tube which has an ever so slight pearlescent sheen to it. The packaging is sturdy and will withstand being knocked about in my handbag. You remove the lid to use the product and you twist the bottom of the tube to move the product higher in the usual way. You can buy the product for around £2 and it can be bought from stores such as Boots and Superdrug, large supermarkets and also from a variety of online websites.

      Application and Performance
      The product looks a very deep burgundy colour but this only translates on to the lips in a sheer way. If you look really closely you can see tiny particles of shimmer inside the balm. The balm smells delicious and it is really very fruity so it has quite a summery scent. The product has a relatively creamy formula and it manages to glide across the lips without pulling or dragging the delicate skin. The product is very hydrating and it instantly makes my lips feel more comfortable. It doesn't highlight any dryness at all.

      The product gives my lips a lovely splash of sheer colour which is perfect for daywear. It adds the slightest bit of shimmer but not in a school disco way but rather in a classy way. It gives the lips a really nice sheen that is almost gloss like, making them shine. I can't say I've noticed it filling in the lips of lips but then I didn't really buy the product for this purpose so it hasn't put me off. The product tastes just as delicious as it smells and it tastes really sweet when you lick it. Obviously you do need to try not to lick it off but it's still a benefit in my eyes.

      It stays put for an hour or so, depending on whether you are eating or drinking but it is really easy to reapply. When the product is removed my lips are still feeling hydrated, soft and smooth and they look pretty and in a better condition. The product doesn't make my lips feel sticky or greasy so it is much better than a gloss in that way. It hasn't caused me any irritations or discomfort.

      Conclusion
      All in all, this is a lovely lip balm which softens the lips, prevents them from becoming dry and give them a lovely splash of colour. It makes my lips smell and taste nice, look pretty and leaves them in an all round better condition. Especially when considering the price, I can't fault this product and I will happily repurchase this product once it is all gone.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Brilliant 3 in one tube of lip balm

        I bought this product for £2.49 in boots. The packaging was appealing in a nice peachy pink colour. The tube itself is pretty simple with no fancy mechanism to get the stick out. It feels sturdy made of pink luminous plastic.

        It definitely is one of the more expensive lip balms. However in my opinion it is way more than just a lip balm. Unlike the normal chap-sticks and Vaseline's which are plain, see-through lip balms, the Blistex Lip Brilliance has SPF 15 (although it says it on the packet, it doesn't say it on the tube so I forgot it had SPF so ended up buying another one for a holiday) and it has a lovely subtle pink colour. I love lip balms which have colour too, otherwise I feel like I look a bit ill having plain lips. But then again I don't want to have to wear actual lipstick on a day-to-day basis. The colour is not pink like on the packet, it's more in between pink and plummy red. Perfect for my complexion. What is great is that if you don't want any colour then you just apply one coat, but since I like having a little more I apply a few coats and voila! I have had people asking me what lipstick I had on when it's just been this! It moisturises your lips very well too. I have big lips which do get dry in winter so this has been a great purchase.

        One thing I will say which is not to criticise this product specifically but it seems that Blistex have replaced the Tint & Shine with this one. I can no longer find the Tint & Shine anywhere and suddenly this one came on the market. In my opinion the Tint & Shine was miles better in regards to colour and consistency and there is nothing else like it out there. I do hope they bring it back!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Best used in summer

        Like most women, I never seem to tire of trying new lip balms, and in my quest to find the perfect lip balm I ended up buying this from Boots. In winter, I need a really moisturising lip balm, but at this time of year when my lips aren't quite so dry, I tend to prefer to go for something with a hint of colour.

        ==The Product==

        This tinted lip balm from Blistex caught my eye because the tube was such a lovely shade of pink. I use Blistex's medicated lip balm from time to time, so I trust the brand. It comes in 3.7g tube (the standard size) and costs around £2 - £2.50 depending on where you buy it from. I paid £2.49 in Boots. It claims to have it all, giving moisturisation when you need it, and giving your lips a rosy glow.

        ==Moisturising Properties==

        According to the product description on the Boots website, this product contains Vitamin E, Silk Extracts, and Grape Seed Oil. These ingredients are all designed to improve the condition of your lips, and provide moisturisation to leave your lips lovely and soft. It also claims to have "Hyaluronic Filling Spheres" (what in God's name are these?) which are supposed to boost your lips' natural fullness. To be honest, I knew nothing of this when buying the product, I just wanted something that would give my lips a bit of colour.

        I wouldn't say this lip balm performs brilliantly if you have very dry lips. I found the product to be a bit solid and dry when I first used it. I was expecting it to be creamy and soft but it actually feels like it's dragging your skin a bit when you apply it. That said, it does make my lips feel soft after using it, but primarily I bought this for the colour so I wouldn't use it if my lips were dry or cracked as in my opinion it just doesn't offer enough moisturisation.

        ==The Colour==

        The product claims to provide a "gorgeous shimmer, and a tint of rosy glow". I would definitely agree with this statement, as the product does give a lovely subtle sheen to my lips. It doesn't look obvious that I'm wearing lip balm, but it adds a really subtle shine and very discreet splash of pink which makes my lips look really healthy. I'm not sure they look any fuller (damn those Hyaluronic Filling Spheres, not doing their job!), but as I have quite full lips anyway I'm not sure I am the target market for this particular claim.

        I find the colour lasts a good while, so I only need to re-apply maybe twice or three times at most during an average day.

        ==Overall==

        I was surprised to see this product only gained an average of two stars on the Boots website. Whilst the moisturising properties aren't brilliant, they are adequate for the summer months when lips tend to be less dry due to the weather. It also has an SPF 15 built in, which makes it even more suitable for summer as your mind is at ease that your lips are protected. I notice the main complaint in the reviews on Boots is that the colour is weak and it's not very nice tasting. I have to agree that the the smell and taste of this product (not that I eat it but sometimes you can't help getting a taste of it!) is quite strong and tastes of strawberries. I'm not a big fan of artificial tastes like this, but it's not overbearing enough to put me off using it. As for the colour, well it depends how you like your make-up....if you like the very subtle look which doesn't make it look like you're trying too hard, this colour is ideal.

        I think the product claims to do too much - after all, a lip balm which moisturises, gives colour, protects from the sun, AND makes lips look fuller is a big ask for £2.49.
