The product I feel will last me a long time and I will always use it on really sore lips now.

DESCRIPTION This is a lip care product from the Blistex brand. My Mom purchased this for me and my Dad in December or January after we were both suffering from sore cracked lips. I'd never tried anything like this before because it's only the odd occasion when I get really sore lips. The product contains jojaba oil, cocoa butter and menthol in order to soothe and heal your lips. PACKAGING The product comes within a small navy blue plastic tub, circular in shape. On top of the lid is the name of the product and wrapped around the lid in white font is the manufacturer details in different languages and the fact that the product contains 7g. On the bottom of the pot there is a white sticker with all the ingredients written on it in black font. To get to the product you simply unscrew the lid to reveal the yellowish coloured cream/gel. PRICE You can currently purchase this product from Tesco for £2.30. PERFORMANCE I feel this product did pretty well although I must admit it was slighter harsher on my lips than I would usually like however under the circumstances I needed a medicated product in order to get my lips back to normal. To apply you simply rub a bit of the product onto a clean finger and rub it onto the lips. The cream which seems more gel like to me applies easily onto the lips and the lips do absorb the product meaning there isn't really a greasy feeling, maybe just a tiny one however it isn't irritable. The menthol you can smell heavily in the product and I assume it is this that creates the tingly feeling on application. The menthol gets to work quickly trying to soothe and soften the cracked and sore lips. Within about 2 days of using this product my lips were completely back to normal and I was very impressed. I did however find that I had to apply the product quite often on a daily basis to ensure that it kept working. OVERALL Overall I would say this product is great if you are suffering from really sore/cracked lips. It does feel a bit powerful but it certainly does the trick. Due to the fact you have to reapply quite often I will be removing a star. Another plus for this product is that there is plenty of cream in the pot you hardly use any on each application and so it will last for a considerable amount of time.

      A lovely soothing lip balm.

I am so reliant on my little pots of Blistex. I have to have one in my handbag and I also have to have one by my bed! I use them daily, especially just before I go to bed and love the way it makes my lips feel. It is a really soothing lip balm that you scoop out with your finger and apply to your lips and will heal them in no time. If I feel my lips are sore or cracking a bit I put some of this on straight away and it sorts them out. When you put it on you feel a little tingling feeling which I personally love as I feel like it's actually doing some good to my lips. Another time I can't be without it is on an aeroplane - my lips always suffer in the sky but this soon sorts them out! The smell is strong but not offensive at all, maybe a bit like eucalyptus. I always buy this in Boots but I have seen it in other chemists as well. The actual balm itself is quite sticky but you only need to put a little on your fingertip to cover your lips as it spreads very easily. The little pots last a long time as you need so little each time you use it.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        I've found better.

This time last year, autumn/ winter time, I badly suffered from extremely chapped lips. They were incredibly dry and were peeling off left right and centre. In a bid to help this I invested in a few medicated and heavy duty lip product, Blistex Med Plus being one of them. This lip balm comes in a small 7g blue pot with " Blistex Med Plus for Lips" on the lid and ingredients around the outside. The pot is also of a convenient size which is small enough to fit into your pocket. "Menthol and camphor both have cooling properties, while carrot oil has an abundance of antioxidants, which protect human cells from harmful free-radical attack. Teamed with cocoa seed butter and lanolin to help restore the moisture balance, this formula is first aid to ailing lips." This lip balm is a thick clear balm which has a strong menthol scent. Initially when applied it makes your lips tingle and the cooling affect with relieve and sooth any chapped parts of your lips, or peeling of lips like I have previously sported and will moisturize. I then find that once the cooling effect has worn away, this balm is painful on the lips and I find my lips beginning to dry out, the opposite of what a lip balm should do. Overall I think this lip balm is good for extremely severe chapped cases but if your lips are need of just a little moisture this lip balm will be more painful than anything and will make your lips worse, instead for that I would suggest CHAPSTICK. Thanks for reading.

It's the only lip stuff I use now

I originally bought this for my partner as he works outside a lot and in the winter his lips really suffer. He didn't want anything that looked too similar to lipstick or gloss or anything too girly, so I thought this handly little pot would be just the thing for him. I cannot tell you what a vast difference it made. After using it daily for just a few days his lips were significantly improved - and they were in a really bad way before. After witnessing this I started using it myself and I swear by it now. I use it pretty much, and my lips are rarely ever cracked or dry now. And I find a little really does go a long way, I've been using the same one for months and it's still going strong! It does give you a little tingle every time you put it on - which I find quite nice as its only light and doesn't sting and it keeps them conditioned and soft - I never use anything else now.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Would definitely recommend!

***BOOTS SAYS*** Blistex® MedPlusTM provides cooling relief for lips, restoring moisture balance. Blistex Med Plus features Menthol, Cocoa Butter and Jojoba Oil to help condition and moisturise the delicate skin on your lips. * Jojoba Oil - conditions skin * Cocoa Butter - protects lips * Menthol - cools lips ***PRODUCT*** The product is a very tiny little pot about the size of a 10 pence piece and is a navy blue colour with red writing. Its small enough to fit well in a pocket or a handbag. The lid screws off easily to reveal the lip balm which is the same sort of colour as vaseline - a yellowy clear balm. Its slightly less "runny" than vaseline and it smells like VIX. You are to apply the balm to your lips with your finger, and when you do this it tingles and you can instantly feel the menthol. It actually feels and smells like you are putting VIX on your lips but it is definitely very soothing. I have very sore and dry lips, not chapped but they have a tight feeling because they are so dry. When my lips get really dry I usually end up with cold sores so it is very important to me to find something that will keep the moisture in my lips. I have about 10 lip balms that I have tried and they aren't too bad but I find that one with this texture is definitely the best. I have tried gloss and I have tried the tinted balms and even some other blistex types but have found this to be the only one that could beat my other favorite - vaseline. This seems to keep my lips very soft and it definitely instantly relieves any soreness. The balm lasts a very long time, about 3 hours aproximately and doesn't come off from having drinks. With all the above said, I would have given this product 5 stars. The only problem is this doesn't seem to treat the problem. Whilst this is applied my lips are really perfect, but it doesn't improve the status of my lips after it wears off. I've been wearing it for a couple of weeks now and although they are better when I wear it its not improving them otherwise. So for this it loses a star unfortunately. I would still definitely recommend this product - available for £2.19 from boots.

        works well for winter

Winter is well and truly upon as myself and some friends were remarking on chapped lips and the chill of the morning dew the other day. To say that I suffer from bad lips would be an understatement. My bedroom drawer is seething with lip balms, gels and treatments, most of them become started then I get bored and switch to another brand mid way through or lose them! While Vaseline remains my friend for lip recovery, Blistex used to help me in the past through very harsh winter weather. I would say Blistex is for people with real problem lips, whereas Vaseline crosses the boundaries from relief into cosmetic purposes. Blistex might have the most awful name for a lip treatment, but the stuff does do a fine job. When I used it I was somewhat shocked by the powerful menthol aroma it unleashed on my lips. The remedy is so cooling and chilling that you actually forget about harsh winds and dry weather for a while. The cooling sensation does die down after a few minutes, but you feel discouraged from lip licking, as it does not taste too great! A thin layer is needed here and it leaves a smooth greasy coating on the lips. I used to find re-application was needed every few hours. It did used to help with my chapped areas and stopped flaky bits coming off. I also used it on elbows and knuckles when my skin got very sore and it worked rather well here too. So the question is, Blistex or Vaseline? Vaseline has a nicer taste and is less abrasive, but I think the medicinal properties of Blistex give it an edge for colder seasons. Vaseline would win for an all year round lip balm, whereas this would be for really severe lip damage. At just over a pound for a tub, it is good value and does the job with conviction.

Throw away all those tubes of lip balm - Blistex does the job better

Like most women I have a massive collection of lip balms some of them that taste nice, some that smell nice and some that come in pretty tubes. What most of them don't do though is actually make dry chapped lips better and that's where Blistex steps in. When you first apply it you get a strong tingling sensation and your lips feel really tight, however that soon passes and your lips are almost instantly refreshed. There is no greasiness at all and although it smells slightly medicinal you completely overlook that due to it's effectiveness. I tend to suffer with dry to the point of bleeding lips and this really does sort them right out. My other half works outside all winter and he swears by this as well so it's not just for the girls either. In terms of the consistency it's quite a thick balm, not dissimilar to Vaseline and a little goes a long way so a pot will last for ages. The value for money you get with this is fantastic and I for one have stopped wasting money on all those other balms which don't work nearly so well.

A great balm to relieve sore lips

Having suffered a few colds and coughs lately my lips, as always, have suffered. I have tried a few balms in the past and I always come back to the Blistex brand and in this particular case the Blistex Medplus balm. When you first apply the waxy balm it gives a pleasant tingling sensation to the lips which dies down within a few minutes and leaves your lips feeling much better and more moisturised. I love the smell it is quite a strong menthol like odour, I could imagine that some people may dislike it. --Value for money?-- I paid £2.49 for my 7g tube and I expect that will last me for quite a while. --Overall-- I would prefer it not to be in tube that requires applying with your fingers, because of this I leave it in the bathroom for applying when I am at home and can wash my hands rather than throwing it in my bag. A bit over the top on hygiene - maybe! But you might not say that if you have seen the inside of one of my bags. I would definitely recommend this product for use to heal dry, cracked and uncomfortable lips. It would also be suited for a more everyday usage, as part of a daily beauty routine underneath any lipstick. I think that this product does exactly what you want it to do, it makes your lips feel better and relieves the uncomfortable chapped feeling. I am going to give this product a very fair four dooyoo stars out of five.

              Lip salve

Blistex Medplus for lips With winter and the cold weather in full flow, it was the season for chapped lips and time to do something about it! I wanted something other than the lip salve stuff because after a while they always tend to look a bit grubby! WHAT DOES IT PROMISE? Blistex MedPlus is formulated to provide quick cooling relief which you can apparently feel working, and will help to restore a healthy moisture balance to lips. The medicated ingredients promise to deliver a noticeable and immediate cooling action to provide fast relief from the hot, itching sensations that can accompany sore lips.as well as providing a special barrier that helps lip cells return to their natural moisture balance. PRODUCT AND PACKAGING... The product comes in a small blue pot with a list of ingredients on the bottom and not a lot else. I unscrew the lid and the product itself is a slight orange colour with a definite medicated smell but not overpowering, rather something which I feel is going to sooth those lips. I dip my finger into the pot and given that it hasn't been left in direct sunlight and so will have melted it is a nice firm consistency and attaches itself easily to my finger without dripping anywhere. When i apply it to my lips, I can still smell that medicated smell, and after a few seconds I feel a slight tingling- not unpleasant and it definitely doesn't hurt. Little Miss has used this on a number of occasions and if it was in any way painful or unpleasant she certainly wouldn't be dipping her finger in the pot for a second go! There is a slight stickiness but this is offset by the fact that the product seems to stay on my lips for ages and really does seem to form a barrier against the cold weather. It also seems able to stay on when I have a drink, so it appears to be giving a few hours of protection. PRICE AND AVAILABILITY... Available in chemists and online, this costs around the £2 mark for 7ml. A small pot which lasts for ages. VERDICT... I would recommend this as it did offer to protect my lips and certainly got rid of the chapped lips I was suffering from. When applied, it is quite glossy so if you wear clear lip gloss, then it can look as though you are wearing normal lip gloss if you try to ignore the medicated smell. Long lasting, lasts for ages and effective, i will be taking some on holiday ready for the sun drying out my lips! Thanks for reading. Daniela x

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Great lip product.

After my success with the Blistex Intensive Moisturiser, I was keen to try other products from the Blistex range. I have stated in a previous review that I am not too keen on lip balms that you apply from tubs or tins with your finger for hygiene reasons, but I was willing to overlook this to try this product. It isn't the most aesthetically pleasing packaging. The 7g tub itself is plastic and is dark blue in colour with the Blistex logo printed on the lid in red. Because of this, I find the product looks quite masculine, maybe this was their intention to attract men to the product. The lid unscrews easily, revealing the product inside. The product has a medicated smell which I find quite pleasant, it certainly isn't overpowering as can be the case with some products on the market. I rubbed my finger on the surface of the product, which is quite a hard waxy substance and applied it to my lips. Again, as with the Blistex Intensive moisturiser, it did make my lips tingle, but also I noticed quite an intense cooling sensation which is quite refreshing, but maybe not for everyone. I would definitely recommend this product for more serious lip problems as it really helps to heal dry, cracked lips. It would also be great for every day use as a maintenance product.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

A nice balm for really chapped lips, try something less harsh for everyday use.

So my hunt for the perfect lip balm continues, and two more products tried this weekend, I think I've found a winner! My lips were seriously sore on Monday. Despite having a LOT of lip products already, nothing was working, so I needed to pick up some Blistex to do some serious repair work. For me, nothing beats the old school Blistex in a tube, but ended up with the next best thing, a tub of Blistex MedPlus. Whatever it was, I didn't care, I needed healing, my lips were really chapped! (God I feel like Napolean Dynamite about now...) This little tub of MedPlus (slightly different wording to the picture above but otherwise the same design) only cost about £2, which is pretty good although it's quite small (7ml). I bought mine at Sainsbury's and this was the only Blistex product available, but there's a huge range if you go to a bigger chemist. I desperately ripped open the tub and dabbed some on my lips, and there was that tingle you get when you know a lip product is really doing something (be that heal or irritate!). Personally I really like that feeling, and this product seemed to tingle for ages! The smell is slightly medicated, but sweet. To me it totally reminds me of root beer, which is actually one of my all-time favourite things and I have purposefully bought lip balms flavoured like root beer in the past, so I was really happy! I realise that is a totally acquired taste, but it's not particularly strong so I can't see it being totally offensive to anyone. Despite being scented, there is no taste at all, good or bad, which I like because it discourages me from licking my lips. I also like that because I hate drinking from a water bottle which tastes of lip balm... The texture is waxy but quite soft even in this weather and always easy to apply. On the lips it doesn't feel greasy at all, you can tell it's there but even when eating or drinking it doesn't "get in the way", feel slimy or uncomfortable, or even seem to wear off. You don't need too much but because of the consistency and size of the pot it probably wont last as long as a more solid wax type of balm. So did it work? Yes! My lips felt instantly better and by the next day they were soft. I'm still applying it quite a bit, which might not be the greatest idea..read on.. I've used lots of balms that make my lips sore as soon as I stop using them and for the purposes of this review decided to find out why that is. It would appear that the ingredients which cause that nice tingle (menthol and camphor for instance..both in this balm), are good for healing cold sores but actually end up causing dryness because they are so harsh. Which leads to reapplying. That and the fact that it ends up as a habit, I can definitely see why some people claim to be addicted. I sit here with a pot on my desk and find myself putting it on without even knowing why, or particularly needing it...I think I have a problem! Anyway, back onto the product and the good news is that at least it also contains some pretty good moisturisers, including cocoa butter. So, if the menthol is healing and drying, I guess it is going towards rehydrating. I'm no scientist, this feels really good on my lips and made them feel better so I will recommend it. But don't blame me if you end up shamelessly addicted to lip balm in a gutter somewhere trying to scrape together your last few pennies for a fix...okay?
