After a long delay I am back, work commitments kept me really really busy.
However, the summer came and went too quickly for me and I really do not like this very cold weather and nor does my skin. I always find that my lips always seem suffer quite badly when the weather turns from warm to cold to even colder, like it is right now, and I am usually running for the nearest lip balm I can find from within my growing collection to ensure my lips stay quite moisturised and smooth.
I have said before that I am fussy about which type of lip balm I use because a past experience left me with awful chapped lips after the promise of smooth and supple lips. However after using Burt's Bees Super Shiny Natural Lip Gloss which I was really impressed with, I now have a new favourite lip gloss which is Radiance Lip Shimmer. For anyone who has never heard of this company they do have their very own dedicated website and for me they produce my favourite lip care products which is quite a wide and varied range of products to choose from such as sore, chapped lips, lip gloss, lip balms and medicated lip balms.
Radiance Lip Shimmer itself is slightly smaller in size to your high street brands and contains 2.7g the product and it is shaped very similar to the Carmex tubes of lip balm that you can buy. The one main difference is the price tag which accompanies the product, where as many of the high street brands retail for anything form 99p to £3 this particular one retails for £5.99 which is a lot more expensive than most people, including myself would usually pay for a lip gloss from Boots or somewhere similar. However, I decided I would give it a try.
My first initial reaction when removing the screw off lid and slightly squeezing the lip gloss for it to appear and as the transparent liquid appeared along with it came a waft of mint, peppermint to be precise and it was really quite strong. Now I am quite a fan of minty flavoured lip balms, although I usually have to be really good and resist the urge the lick it off and it is even harder to resist as you apply it to your lips and you can feel the tingly of the peppermint as it soothes your lips and the aroma is right there under your nose. Once it was applied to my lips they were in my opinion very very glossy and shiny, so there was definitely evidence of there being a gloss on my lips and the shine it produced is better than any of the other lip glosses that I have ever tried. It also works really well over lipstick, giving it that extra glossy shine and even more so with my vampy red lipstick.
Within this lip gloss because it is sold as being a moisturising it comes with an array of ingredients which have been chosen to help improve the state of your lips and the two main ones for me are Cocoa Butter, again a product that I absolutely adore for keeping my skin soft and smooth and Vitamin E which is kind to the skin and helps to keep it moisturised, hydrated, soft and smooth. Again a list of ingredients and their benefits can be found on the Burts Bees website and it is particularly useful to check especially if you have allergies or like to simply know what is in your product.
The change in weather does as I have said, always irritates my skin and lips and I need to use certain products on certain areas to help keep my skin in the best possible condition and this lip gloss is absolutely brilliant on my lips. Whilst I would never dream of letting them get into a really bad state of being sore and chapped, I do tend to carry lots of balms and gloss around with me to constantly apply, more so when it is either really really hot or the opposite and is really cold.
As I have said, this lip gloss is easy to apply and is non-greasy, but because it is a gloss it can be quite sticky if you over apply it. This gloss can also be used on its own or as an extra coating to any lipstick you might apply, if used in this way it adds a shine to your lips giving it that wet-look affect. On average if I was to purchase a lip gloss like this one, the tube would last me a maximum of a month, two if it is a bigger than average tube and I have been using this one for more than month now and I am almost coming to the end of the tube, so for me it is a worthwhile purchase.
If you are looking for a new lip gloss then I cannot recommend this one highly enough, it is easy to use, smells wonderful, moisturises and nourishes the lips and it even tastes slightly nice but that isn't something I would recommend doing because makes your lips dry and sore. The only thing which I suspect would put me off is the price tag, but it is worth it, I can assure you.
Burt's Bees produce a vast range of natural skincare products that are sourced from natural ingredients; that are kind to the skin and the environment. Unlike their counterparts they make no fancy claims, their products are gentle yet they are effective, and they always produce good results. All of their products are environmentally friendly as they are packaged in recyclable materials, and they use minimal packaging that is produced from sustainable sources. Their products are free from synthetic chemicals, surfactants and colouring, and none of their ingredients or products are tested on animals.
Burt's Bees have become one of my favourite skincare ranges, as I like to know that my skin is absorbing natural goodness. I try my best to maintain my skin to keep it soft and supple, I lavishly apply moisturiser to my body daily and my lips don't want to miss out, as I want them to have the same healthy luminous appearance and soft and silky feeling. Lip products keep my lips from drying out in warmer weather, and from chapping in colder weather.
I'm not a fan of lipstick for general day-to-day wear; I prefer to wear lipstick for getting glammed up for a night out, as I opt for a very dark shade which isn't always practical for day wear. I do, however, like to wear eye make-up which I team up with a nice moisturising lip product to give my lips a healthy shine. I'm not overly keen on lip glosses, as a lot of them feel too sticky and heavy, and I don't like the brightness that they give my lips. I generally opt for a good lip balm to achieve the desired effect and feeling, as I haven't found any other lip products that I have been happy with. However, I received a Lip Shimmer in a Burt's Bees set, which I was eager to try.
The Lip shimmer has become one of my favourite lip products. I was so pleased with it that I went on to buy a full size tube, however, I didn't pay the full price, as luckily for me it was at a lower price at the time of purchase. The Radiance Lip Shimmer retails at £5.87, and it is available in a variety of different shades that will add a touch of colour.
*~A Tiny Tube packed with Shimmery Goodness~*
The Lip Shimmer is housed in a slim twist up tube. All of the key information and ingredients are presented on the label. It is formulated from 100% natural ingredients, the packaging is produced from consumer post waste, and it is recyclable. There is no excess packaging; it is kept hygienic by its protective paper seal around the lid, once the lift-up lid is twisted it will break the seal, you can of course peel this off if you wish.
The peppermint scent is evident as soon as you lift the cap, twisting the base of the tube up ever so slightly reveals the delightful shimmering almost pearlescent product within, which smells divine, it emanates a lovely fresh minty scent.
The product is incredibly soft and fragile, so take care not to apply pressure; a gentle sweep over the lips is all that is needed. It glides effortlessly over the lips, it is easy to apply and not much is required. It leaves a pleasant tingling feeling upon the lips which lingers for hours; it is quite refreshing as it has a cooling sensation, and it leaves the lips feeling moisturised, nourished and conditioned. The Lip Shimmer gives the lips a pearlescent frosty sheen and a natural subtle shimmer. It leaves the lips with a pretty shimmery effect, and it can be used as a base under a gloss or lipstick to add a bit of shine.
*~Puckering up my Shimmery Lips~*
I generally wear a plain lip balm for day-to-day wear when I'm at home, and I opt to wear the lip shimmer for daytime wear when going out to highlight my lips and give them a bit of my lips a bit of a sparkle. If I am to wear it at home then I find that my boy will be shimmering by the end of the day from all the kisses and cuddles he receives. The shimmer will leave glimmer traces behind on the lucky recipient of a kiss, which is almost impossible to wipe off the skin, as even if you can't see or feel the product you will still have sparkly remnants left on the skin. It also wears off a bit when eating and drinking.
When I wear this out, I find that it last on the lips for several hours after application and it stays in place, so I have no need to re-apply or worry about it. At the end of the day even if the lip shimmer has faded, my lips still feel supple, they still have a nice sheen to them and a bit of sparkle. I love this lip shimmer as it is subtle enough for daytime wear, but it still adds a bit of glamour. It gives my lips a frosty shimmery pearlescent sheen that is not too over powering. It feels light on the lips and it doesn't have a sticky tacky feeling at all. The minty tingling feeling is refreshing and uplifting, and it has very little taste to it. Not only does it look pretty, it also leaves my lips in great condition as it moisturises them.
*~Shimmering with a Zing~*
The Burt's Bees radiance Lip Shimmer is designed to moisturise, nourish and condition all whilst giving your lips a shimmery radiant appearance. It is produced from natural oils and emollients which moisturise and protect the lips. The prominent ingredients are, Vitamin E, which is a natural antioxidant that is known for its soothing and moisturising properties. Coconut and sunflower oils which moisturise the lips to give them a radiant glow. The peppermint oil is added for its refreshing and cooling affect to give a tingling minty taste.
I have two tubes of this lip shimmer and they have lasted me a long time, as only a small amount is required to get a shimmery effect and to add shine. It lasts well on the lips, far longer than I would expect from a lip product. Although it may seem expensive, I think it is great value, as even though the tube is small, it lasts and lasts and it gives brilliant results, not only does it leave my lips tingling and shimmering, it also moistures them so there is no need to use a balm.
If you want a nice shimmery look that feels light on the lips to add glamour, that makes them appear lighter in colour then this is for you.
A must have beauty product - Highly recommended.

Burt's Bees Radiance Lip Shimmer
Description: Manufacturer: Burt's Bees / Type: Lip Care.
I tried this Lip Shimmer for the first time a week ago and am already hooked. Created by Burt's Bees, the balm is designed not only to leave you with smooth, soft and healthy lips but also to leave them shimmering while it does all that. Clever huh?!
If you have read some of my earlier reviews (thanks so much, I really appreciate all reads, rates and comments!) then you may know that I love trying new beauty products. This means that I have tried a lot of lip balms and glosses but generally always return to good old Chap Stick because it works so well and usually at a fraction of the price of other products. This 5g tube of Lip Shimmer retails for around £5.50 depending on where you buy it from. It can sometimes be found cheaper though so is worth watching out for.
The product works the same as most tubes of lip balm, you turn the bottom to move the product up as you use it. What I didn't expect and was really impressed by is the slightly menthol and pepperminty aroma which also leaves lips tingling gently. As soon as you apply this product, your lips seem to feel softer and more moisturised. The light tingling sensation lasts for ages and the product stays on your lips without bleeding and leaving you looking greasy.
I found that this product immediately improved the condition of my lips and now that I have been wearing it for a week or so, they feel amazing, soft, smooth and kissable. The product is clear but leaves lips looking really shiny without that stickiness that you tend to get from gloss. The shimmer is much better than I have ever achieved with a lip balm but still looks natural and fresh. This Lip Shimmer is made with only natural ingredients so you know that you are being kind to your skin when you use it too.
In summary, this product is going to be a must have item in my make up bag from now on. My sister has been using it for ages and tells me that the tube lasts well too. If you want to give your lips the care that they deserve, you should definitely give it a try!
** Burt's Bees**
Burt (I was naïve to not realise) is actually a real, normal, down to earth guy from America who got lucky with some beeswax. It all started in 1984 (which makes the company very young!) when he sold candles at a local fair and it has seriously grown from there. I love little independent companies that have real stories behind them and all the originality and classic style is so individual. Burt's Bees are now one of the biggest manufacturers of environmentally friendly natural personal care products and they sell everything from lip balm to face masks. Their products are simple yet effective and because of the fun factor they have now have a huge fan base. Now including me! After reading and hearing so much about this company I decided that I needed to give them a try for myself and sample some of their delights. After having the Burt's Bees experience I can't help but keep their products in my Amazon wish list. I am lucky enough to get spoiled as well as treat myself occasionally. This is one of my treats!
** Burt's Bees Radiance Lip Shimmer **
I love having healthy looking glossy lips. I think it makes even the dullest, most tired face look brighter and healthier. As well as keeping my lips moisturised and healthy I like them to have a little shine! Burt's Bees Radiance Lip Shimmer promises to do just that. But not with some fake glitter stuff that make your lips itch!
This lip shimmer is made from 100% natural ingredients which already makes me feel more positive about applying it to my lips. Some of the natural ingredients include Vitamin E, which is a natural anti-oxidant as well as known for its soothing and moisturising properties so this of course is a must for anything that is going to help keep lips healthy. The lip shimmer also includes coconut and sunflower oils which are also known for their softening and moisturising qualities that are soft and sensitive on the skin. Sounds pretty great to me.
The 5g tube of Lip Shimmer cost around £5.50 depending on where you get it from. I was lucky enough to get this as a gift but I do think it is quite expensive compared to some other lip moisturisers. However, knowing that it has a hint of shimmer and is 100% natural somehow explains the slightly more expensive price tag.
** So what is it like to use? **
The thin tube has a clear lid which just pulls off. It also clips back on quite securely so I never have any problems with losing the lid in my bag, unlike some lip care products I have used! The lip shimmer itself is a hard cream coloured balm which has a slight glitter look to it. Just like the old fashioned lip balms you twist the bottom of the tube and the lip balm slowly protrudes through the top.
As soon as I took of the lid and slowly smoothed on the lip shimmer I had a hint of mint wander through my nose. The lip shimmer includes peppermint oil which gives your lips a tingle. The tingling helps to get the blood circulating in the lips and is supposed to then help your lips look slightly fuller and healthier. It also adds a tingle to your tongue if you accidently lick your lips! The peppermint really does give my lips an instant sing and makes them feel really refreshed like I have just cleaned my teeth. It's a great feeling and one that happens every single time I use the lip shimmer.
The tube of balm glides on so well to my lips and almost melts on impact. I hardly use any and it stays on my lips for ages! A lot longer then most lip glosses and longer then a lot of lip moisturisers. A couple of hours after application my lips still feel soft and moisturised as well as having a very slight zing left if I lick my lips. The lip shimmer really moisturises well and after just a day of use you can really see the difference in how soft my lips are. This is great as the warmer weather approaches as the vitamin E will help to restore lost moisture from the heat of the sun. Fantastically soft lips which I couldn't ask any more of.
In terms of the radiance shimmer which is what this lip balm is all about, it is beautiful! There is a subtle shine, with a slight hint of silver shimmer. It isn't sticky and just feels like your skin has a small layer of balm on them. The beeswax is what creates the perfect barrier for the lips and it really does make the lips look full and healthy. I absolutely love the gleam on my lips. The shimmer really isn't over powering and if you prefer colour on your lips, putting on a coat of this over the top will not only help your lip colour last longer but it will also add an extra touch of sparkle. I just have to emphasize that this really is a natural looking product, there is no colour or glittery effect, it is just a pure shimmer which sets of the contours and gives your lips a healthy glow.
I genuinely love this product and the fact that you can use it as often as you want without creating a mess is fantastic. The only word of warning I would give is to people who like to apply their lip balm thickly. If you put too much of this on at any one time you might find that your lips can not absorb it and a white film is created on the outside of your lips. Just like lip gloss tends to do but you can see where is has gone on too thick. But because this is almost clear when it starts to dry ever so slightly it will turn white, so if you do pile it on thick then check in the mirror! To be fair you only need a thin layer of this lip shimmer because of how well it works. Sometimes less is more!
It will last for ages because the balm just smoothes on a small layer every time you apply and it stays on your lips for hours without need for reapplying. It fulfils every promise it makes and I definitely will be buying this again.
I recommend this to anyone who wants their lips to feel and look healthy, people who need some extra protection against dry lips and anyone who likes a touch of shimmer and shine to their lips. For people who don't wear make up this will give your face an extra touch of natural radiance and if you do wear make-up then this will set your face perfectly.
I can not recommend this enough. It will last longer then any lip gloss but will give you even better effects. The natural ingredients that haven't been tested on animals won't irritate your skin and the tube is easily slipped into a pocket or purse. I love the shine and how healthy my lips look every time I use it without leaving any greasiness or stickiness.
