Advantages: lovely smell, works well on sore lips, lasts well
Disadvantages: none for me
When I was younger I used to suffer from dried chapped lips quite regularly and this winter I seem to have reverted back to that. I so think that the very changeable weather has been a massive factor in this and so I knew I needed some form of protective product and in boots I chose the carmex cherry flavoured balm.
What grabbed my attention about this product was the fact that it claimed to sooth, relieve and moisturise chapped lips. As my lips were quite sore and red I knew I needed something more than an ordinary balm and this looked like it would be just the product I needed. The balm comes in a bright yellow tube which has a red lid and I have to say that I think it really stands out on the shelf due to its bright colouring. The tube has the carmex name and a large picture of some cherries so you are in no doubt as to the flavour of the product. We are also told that the lip balm has a SPF factor of 15 which is always a good addition to a product like this in my opinion.
To use the product you need to unscrew the lid and squeeze some of the balm out. I personally squeeze it on to a clean finger and apply it that way. I have found that if the tube is quite cold that it can be tricky to get some of the balm to come out and so I just squish the tube in my hands for a few seconds warming the balm up inside so that it comes out quicker. Be mindful not to squish it too much or it will just pour out once it is warm!
The actual balm is a clear coloured product which smells strongly of cherries. Many people have actually enquired what it is I am using when I apply this product telling me that it smells lovely and I have to say that I certainly agree with them. When I apply the balm to my lips it does make them tingle for a little while and when my lips were chapped and sore it was enough to make my eyes water in all honesty! The balm is incredibly soothing and moisturising though and it did really help get my lips back in to tip top condition. When I use this product on a day to day basis it gives me lips a lovely but subtle shine and leaves them feeling incredibly soft and cared for too.
You get just 10g of carmex cherry flavoured lip balm in a tube but the beauty of it is that you need very little to moisturise your lips effectively and so a tube does last quite a while. You can use the product for up to two years from purchase too according to the packaging but I don't think mine will last anywhere near that time!
The tube of carmex cherry moisturising lip balm cost me £2.69 in boots and I am incredibly happy with my purchase as it helped to treat my sore chapped lips and has then kept them in tip top condition. I have always been a Vaseline lip therapy girl but I feel I have found my new wonder product in carmex!
Thank you for reading my review!
