Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Balm
Advantages: Moisture rich, lovely colour, good price,
Disadvantages: Some of the shades are too subtle
For both my birthday and Christmas presents I was lucky enough to receive a Clinique chubby stick in two very different colours to try. I am a huge fan of Clinique make up and had wanted to try one of these Chubby Sticks for awhile having seen them advertised on television.
The chubby stick comes in the standard Clinique packaging, which is a pale beige and green coloured cardboard box that fits the lipstick in snugly. The Chubby Stick itself looks a lot like a big Crayola crayon, so those of you with children do not leave this lying around or you could end up with a costly hand drawn picture! The stick has approximate dimensions of 12 cm length and 1 cm diameter, as the name suggests, it is quite a chunky lipstick.
The main part of the Chubby Stick is coloured the same as your chosen shade, which for me is a nice deep but bright red called 05 Chunky Cherry. The Clinique branding is written in silver across the stick and both the end and the lid are also coloured silver. Underneath the lid is the lipstick which before first use is pointed and again looks like a crayon. When the lipstick runs down to the base you simply turn the silver ens and this releases more of the stick, it is very easy to use.
The Chubby Stick
Clinique state that this lipstick is intensely moisturising with sheer colour that relieves dry and cracked lips instantly. I was drawn to this lipstick for these very reasons, I wanted moisture but also a good, bold colour to go with it. The stick itself has the appearance of a lipstick, being a solid block of colour with a shiny texture. During use I found it to be slightly more soft than your standard lipstick and therefore very easy to apply to my lips.
My colour is Chunky Cherry which is one of the more bold and bright colous that are on offer in the range. The red has deep tones, but with a bright sheer colour. I wanted to ensure that the colour would stand out and could be used as both a moisturiser and coloured lipstick. I asked the lady behind the counter which was the best colour to do this as I had been told that some of the shades do not show up very well and she suggested the Chunky Cherry shade. I absolutely love it and will be buying it again when I need to.
A few swipes of this over your lips and you get a lovely coating of moisture as well as a colour burst. The finish is a shiny and glossy film that is soft and nourishing. The lipstick tends to fill in the cracks in dry and chapped lips that almost acts as a filler. My lips do feel instantly moisturised and soft and smooth. I am super happy with the colour and the Chubby Stick, I think that this is my favourite ever lipstick and I can't recommend it highly enough.
The results are great, with my lips feeling a lot more nourished and stronger than before and a gorgeous colour to boot. The staying power of this lipstick is also very good, I tend to reapply it every couple of hours or when I feel that I need to, with the red still being very prominent throughout.
There are currently sixteen shades available in the Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Balm collection, consisting of beiges, pinks and reds.
I think this is a very reasonably priced item from Clinique, costing £16 for 3 grams of Chubby Stick. I have been using mine constantly since the beginning of December and have only had to turn it up a couple of times and I think it has a good amount left in it. This is available on the high street, in department stores with Clinique counters and online at www.clinique.co.uk.
Thanks for reading :D
Summary: A brilliant lipstick that I have fallen in love with, this is a staple handbag item
