Dermalogica Renewal Lip Complex
Advantages: Leaves lips soft and smooth.
Disadvantages: Expensive, doesn't have long term positive effects for the aging of lips.
About a month ago my Mum had a big clear out of all her beauty bits and bobs, as she usually buys expensive goodies and gets lots of samples as well I happily sort through her cast offs and take anything I like the look of. After a few weeks of using some new products I've decided to start reviewing a few of them starting with Dermalogica Smart Renewal Lip Complex. My Mum said she thinks she paid about £22 for the 1.75ml which is obviously very expensive, having a look online though and it's available for £16.87 delivered on www.dermalexpert.co.uk which, although it's still expensive does mean a little bit of a saving.
Dermalogica Renewal Lip Complex comes in a silver tube. The tube is about eight centimetres high, nice and compact for keeping in your bag. The upper half or the lid being accounts for two thirds of the bottle and the base being one third. The lid is pretty secure but also easily removed by using a bit of force to pull it away from the base. The tube itself is pretty simple as most Dermalogica packaging is and only has a bit of information on it including the brand and product name. When you pull the lid off you'll see that the the base has a pump on it which dispenses the product. One pump is all that's needed as a small amount of the product is all that needs to be used to coat the lips adequately.
Lip Complex is really thick and creamy when dispensed; it's white in colour with a very light scent to it. When applied to my lips I've found the balm to absorb well, previously I've found white lip balms to leave white on my lips but this one doesn't. The Lip Balm contains Vitamin E and a moisturizing blend of Avocado Oil, combined with Shea and Cocoa Seed butters. I've always found that my lips feels pretty smooth after using this balm, as I said it absorb quickly and gets rid of any dry or rough skin which is especially handy with the wintery weather beginning. Although the balm has quite a creamy consistency it feels lovely and light on the lips, it feels like a very natural product and contains no artificial fragrance or colour. The reason my Mum stopped using the balm is because it's part of Age Smart range, and is meant to minimize contour lines and help prevent the signs of aging, she saw no benefit after using this for a while so gave up on it.
Overall, I've been pleased with Dermalogica Lip Complex as it's left my lips lovely and smooth and feeling in great condition. I have to say though that it is expensive and although it's high quality it's not one I'd buy myself, also it hasn't lived up to anti- aging claims for my Mum which is probably the reason why it's so expensive and would have rendered it a bit useless if I hadn't snapped it up for my collection.
Summary: 3/5 a good lip balm but others do the same job for a fraction of the price.
