Dermalogica Renewal Lip Complex
Advantages: Leaves the lips hydrated, soft and in a good condition
Disadvantages: The price
My lips get dry and chapped in both the summer and the winter. They aren't particularly full or healthy looking so I thought it was time to splash out on an effective remedy for the problem. After a bit of research, I decided on the Renewal Lip Complex by Dermalogica.
What does the product do?
The product is a lip treatment which promises to moisturise and restore the lips. It also claims to prevent the lips from aging further by removing toxins and smoothing out the skin that covers them. It does so using natural ingredients such as Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter which both hydrate the lips deeply and also Avocado oil which nourishes and softens the lips.
How do you use the product?
The product should be applied to the lips twice daily for the most effective use. You need to remove the lips, twist the bottom of the tube and then apply the tube directly to the lips. You can use it alone or you can use it underneath your usual lip stick or lip gloss.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in an expensive and futuristic silver metallic tube which looks classy. It has little decoration on the tube other than the burgundy strip which indicates that it is a Age Smart product for aging skin. When you remove the lid, you see the applicator which is a slanted plastic surface with holes across it. When you twist the bottom of the tube, the product comes through the holes and you can apply it to the lips.
The product doesn't come cheap which is to be expected by this brand. It will you around £20 for a small amount and it can be bought from your local Dermalogica store and also from a variety of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product has an aroma that is right up my street which is always a good thing for a product which is applied directly beneath the nose. It has a lovely fruity and sweet aroma, and it tastes good too so you're not going to get a horrible taste in your mouth. The treatment has a thick and creamy consistency and it makes you feel like it's really taking care of the lips. Despite its thickness, it doesn't feel uncomfortable or greasy on the mouth and it largely melts into the skin. It doesn't leave a gloss or sheen on the skin, but it does make the lips looks deeply hydrated and healthy. A gloss could always be used over the top if you like that look.
After a few days use, my lips are in a much better condition. This banishes all signs of dry, dull and flaky skin leaving my lips looking smoother and feeling softer. It leaves a lovely surface on which to apply lipstick. I'm not sure it it makes my lips look younger but it makes them look healthier. It also helps to heal the chapped skin on my lips quickly and effectively. The results last a good few hours, even after eating and drinking so reapplication is only necessary twice a day and this is easy to do on the go.
Summary: A great lip treatment which leaves the lips conditioned, soft and hydrated
