Advantages: Works Really Well
Disadvantages: Shop around as the price varies from store to store.
I like Elizabeth Arden products and have used many different Elizabeth Arden products in the past. Elizabeth Arden products are available to buy at Elizabeth Arden Counters found in shops like Debenhams and Frasers and online at stores like Salon Skincare and Cheapsmells etc.
Elizabeth Arden products are middle of the range products and in my opinion they are very good quality for their middle of the range prices.
Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant costs around £18 at Elizabeth Arden Counters. I have seen it as cheap as £5 at online stores. It is always better to compare prices before you buy.
The lip protectant takes the shape and form of a normal lisptick. It contains SPF 15 sunscreen and vitamin E, it shields lips against harmful UV rays, while the nourishing balm, enriched with super emollients, will also relieve chapping, irritation and cracking.
The lip protectant contains 3.7g of the product. It contains Elizabeth Arden's renowned Eight Hour Cream in a super-protective, portable stick for lips.
Created in 1930 by Elizabeth Arden to soothe skin, Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant became an instant and overwhelming success. What made it so effective is a combination of petrolatum, a skin-soothing beta-hydroxy in one of its first cosmetic uses, and vitamin E. The apricot colored balm was so beneficial to her clients, Miss Arden used it to soothe her famous thoroughbred horses' legs. Even its name came about thanks to a remarkable performance - a loyal client used it to treat her child's skinned knee and "eight hours later" the skin was all better.
I have used Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream in the past and would not be without it. It is particulary good to take on holiday with you as it works well to repair sunburnt skin. The only thing I really dislike about the cream is the smell, I think it stinks. The smell is very operpowering and I think it smells a bit like TCP.
I have been wanting to try the lip protectant for a while but I have not purchased it because I am worried it will smell and taste like the cream. It's almost bearable putting the cream on your skin but lips don't compare!
The lip protectant comes boxed and the box is sealed with thin plastic. The cardboard box can be recycled after use. When you remove the lip protectant from the box it looks just like a tube of lipstick. The tube is pearlescent white in colour and made from thick plastic. It is not cheap looking and really looks quite nice, and not at all out of place in my make-up bag.
When I smell the lip protectant for the first time it smells just like the cream but thankfully not quite as strong. The lip protectant also has the same slightly apricot colour of the cream. I am getting worried about using this on my lips!
The lip protectant twists up the tube just like a normal lipstick, after you have applied it you just twist it back down the tube again. It's really easy to apply, the texture is not butter soft or too hard, it's a perfect texture and it applies perfectly to my lips.
When I have the lip protectant on my lips it does not taste bad at all, it tastes slightly of almonds, it still smells a bit like the cream but it thankfully does not taste like the cream.
The results I got from using the lip protectant were excelllent. My lips were very moisturised, even when wearing this during the very cold icy weather my lips were soft and they did not crack or peel in the cold.
The lip protectant is suitable for every day wear, I have even blotted my lipstick and applied a small covering of this lip protectant over my lipstick and it has worked well. When you wear it on top of lipstick it does not change the colour of your lipstick because when applied this lip protectant is colourless.
The best results I get with this product is just using it as a normal lip balm. It works better than any other lip balm I have tried and it is honestly very moisturising without being greasy.
I like this lip protectant and the last time I bought it I only paid £4.99 for it from Direct Cosmetics. I was really happy with the price I paid. This product lasts so long that I only buy about 2 a year. It is also a great product for the beach, it really stops your lips drying out and it has added sunscreen and vitamin E.
This lip protectant can also be bought in tinted varieties. I have only tried this version but I like the look of the tinted lip protectant and I might buy it in the berry shade for using next winter.
All in all a great and very effective lip protectant.
Summary: Well worth the £5 I paid
