“ Brand: Green People / Type: Lip Balm / Suitable for: Lip / UV Protection Factor: SPF 8 / What it does: regenerates, „
I find it strange how the need to protect your lips from the sun is widely overlooked, even though most women nowadays who are averagely consciencious about anti-aging products would consider a moisturizer with SPF in it a pretty standard part of their skin routine. So why not protect your lips, where the skin is even more delicate and sensitive?
What has always bothered me up until now is the apparent necessity to apply potentially harmful synthetic chemicals where, let's face it, they're essentially going to get eaten! Thankfully, this lip balm is safe and edible, as the UV filter is a derivative of cinnamon, a relatively new ingredient on the alternative skincare market but one which has been accredited quite widely on the web.
It also doubles as a light lip gloss but doesn't have any of the stickiness that is so common with glosses.
Green People are quality manufacturers of organic, cruelty-free skin products and their approach is responsible, open and informative. They are registered or certified by at least six of the main ethical bodies such as the Vegan Society, Fair Trade and Non-GM Food, so you can enjoy this product guilt-free!
Your first order is delivered free of charge so at £2.92 this really is competitively priced.
Sun protection has never tasted so good (and will hopefully provide a minty antidote to the cheesy residue caused by this review - sorry folks!)
Every so often I come across a product that intrigues me to buy it, if I am honest it doesn't take a lot of persuasion a lot of the time. The Green People are not a brand with which I am too familiar and not something I come across everyday, my only use of their products comes through head office at work in which everything from hand wash, hand cream, deodorant and lip balm is there for the offering for the staff to use when they need to. Everyone has a small gift pack which they are given as they get a desk and for me this was no exception.
The Green People after a little research are a company whose main aim is produce and sell products within the market which are not only 100% natural but also 100% organic and in doing that they list upon their website a whole host of ingredients that their products do not include such as lanolin which I know causes skin problems for a few people. Their company began around ten years ago when Sandra, a two year old girl suffered badly with eczema and other skin allergies for which conventional medicines hadn't cured. So with that in mind Sandra's mother sought advice from herbalists and with the knowledge she gained The Green People company was formed. They now sell over 100 different products in many categories including cosmetics, skin care, hair and body, sun products, mens products and so on. Each and every one of these products has been classed as being natural and organic.
When it came to the lip balm it was in my little package along with some roll on deodorant, Aloe Vera Hand lotion and some liquid soap. So whilst I was happy with a package that costs in the region of £30 to put together, I had never used any of these products before so I was a little dubious but hey it was free so I decided to try them out. The first thing to note when it comes to these products is that the packaging itself is bright white. The tube of Cool Lips (mint) lip balm comes in a soft plastic 10ml tube, very similar to the tube Carmex lip balm comes in, with a screw on and off lid and the good thing about it is that the packaging is also recyclable. The colour upon this tube is a bright orange colour which forms an arch down one side of the tube and there is an orange circle which contains the lettering GP which naturally stands for Green People.
The first time of opening the tube to smell the lip balm immediately brings to life the minty aroma which gives this lip balm its cool lips name and upon first smells it is really minty but a fresh minty aroma rather than the mint smell of Original Source which to me doesn't have a fresh aroma it is instead just a strong mint smell. As this product is 100% natural and organic the ingredients list made a delightful read. In most lip balms you will find both Olive Oil and Coconut Oil because they are quickly absorbed into the skin and helps to retain moisture therefore leaving your lips feeling soft and smooth. Then there is peppermint oil which as well as producing a fresh uplifting scent is kind to the skin and helps with the reduction of inflammation, relieves itching and at the same time promotes cooling on the skin. Finally there is Myrrh and Cupuacu Butter. Myrrh is an ingredient which works wonders for dry and chapped skin and it is a known anti-inflammatory and Cupuacu Butter is an emollient for skin which helps to promote softness and boost the skins natural moisture and is therefore highly beneficial for dry, chapped or sore skin. There is a whole list of further ingredients, which can be found on the Green people website.
To apply this product to your lips, all you need to do is to gently squeeze the tube to release a little bit of the balm onto your lips and then using the rounded top to help spread the creamy balm across your lips evenly and as you do apply it to your lips you can feel the tingling as the cooling peppermint touches the skin and although this product can be used as just a lip balm or to add a gloss shine over your lipstick, it is by no means sticky and nor does it leave behind a sticky residue clinging to your lips. Instead what it does is quickly absorb itself into your lips but it does leave behind a slight shine. Whenever I apply a lip balm that I like the smell of, I always lick my lips to I to taste the lip balm, I live in hope that one day they will invent something which smells amazing but tastes so bad I stop licking my lips, but anyway for me it tasted just as good as it smelt and naturally if you lick your lips a lot it will only add to the problem of chapped lips and the product will not work - so don't do it! .
After using this product for the last 4 weeks, still using the same 10g tube I was impressed that although I use this four or five times a day it does have a good lasting ability and more importantly I have noticed a difference in the softness of my lips which are now much more moisturised and the chapped feel has totally disappeared. For this product you can expect to pay a very reasonable £2.95 which for me falls in line with similar products that I have bought and used in the past, the one good thing about the price of this product is that I was expecting it to be a bit more expensive given that it is made from natural products and is organic like many other products in similar ranges. When it comes to purchasing it, the best place to look is the Green People website.
So would I recommend this product? I absolutely would because it is a product that works and works well and also as someone with super sensitive skin I would also suggest trying any of their products, but I would also advise you to go onto their website and check the ingredients used, they are listed under each product so it is easy to find out. I also got this product for free which naturally is an added bonus but I would happily purchase it again without a seconds thought if I needed to and I hate chapped lips on people, anything that can be solved with ease really does annoy me because the mouth is such an important feature on the face and for just a few pounds it can be treated.
