      Herbfarmacy Lip Conditioner

Being a bit of a beauty product addict, I always like to try out new things and vary the brands that I use. One of my most exciting discoveries has been finding online companies that provide beauty boxes. The idea is that you will be sent a box every month, and this will usually contain a selection of various make-up, skin care, fragrance products etc for you to try out, so I have been trying a few from different suppliers. I received a full size version of this Herbfarmacy Lip Conditioner in a previous delivery from "Amarya". You can find further information at www.amarya.co.uk, and www.herbfarmacy.co.uk.

Lip balm is a daily essential for me, and I always have several on the go, one for handbag, one for home, and one for work. My lips are constantly suffering from dryness and can get chapped and sore when the weather is too cold or too hot - I can't win! This lip balm is made by natural skincare brand Herbfarmacy and is a Soil Association certified organic product. It costs £4.95 for a 6g tube.

Product description: "Containing our signature herb Marshmallow and specially made vanilla infused oil. A great lip softener and conditioner. Perfect for popping in your handbag/changing bag to help create an aura of personal calm and unruffledness."

The lip balm comes in a small plastic tube and has a pull-off cap lid. You apply the lip balm by turning a section at the bottom of the tube to move the product out of the top. The twist tube is my favoured method of packaging for lip balms, as this means I can apply neatly straight from the tube onto my lips, without having to get it on my fingers and have a sticky residue left behind, or end up with it caught underneath my fingernails. It's easy to pop the little tube into a purse or handbag and I take this everywhere with me for when I need to reapply it. However this tube seems to be a bit unhygienic as it has a hole in the centre where the twist mechanism fits. I find that little bits of dirt get stuck in here and clog up to form a little gungy block. I usually over-twist the tube to pop this out and then throw it away, but it always happens over time as the hollow clogs up again.

The lip balm itself has a nice firm consistency and feels quite solid at first. I thought that this might make it difficult to apply, but as soon as I spread it over my lips the balm warms from my body temperature and rubs on easily. It contains certified organic natural ingredients so I would expect it to be a good quality, and the cocoa butter is highly moisturising. The rich and creamy texture feels pleasant and seems to work effectively to nourish my skin. I apply my lip balm first thing in the morning, and I like to wear this under my lipstick to give an extra moisture boost. The balm is long lasting and my lips always feel cared for when I'm wearing this lip balm. The marshmallow and vanilla extracts give this balm a gorgeous sweet fragrance and because the ingredients are natural then this means it's still suitable for use on dry and damaged sensitive skin without causing any irritation.

This lip balm contains no SPF, so I have been using it through winter during the colder months when I do not need the added sun protection. This winter has been particularly cold with lots of bad weather and snow, and I made sure to take this lip balm in my handbag so I could reapply it if I felt my lips getting dried out from exposure to the elements. I often had to reapply, not because the balm was ineffective, but more because the weather conditions were so bad! I did find that after repeated uses the lip balm seemed to overload my lips and I was left with a gungy residue which formed little clumps along the point where my lips meet. This felt and looked unpleasant and I had to make sure to rub any excess product away to stop this from happening.

Overall I can recommend this Herbfarmacy Lip Conditioner for its moisturising properties and high quality natural organic ingredients. The tube has a few problems and repeated applications make it go a bit sticky, but other than that it's a nice rich lip balm with a lovely sweet scent.
