I am a self-confessed lip balm addict. I have so many that I wouldn't even begin to count them and impulse buys are usually my reason for adding to the collection. However, I recently read a review on this product, and on seeing the cheap price and the positive comments I decided to buy it when I saw it in my local Superdrug. The Product & Effects : The lip balm comes in a small clear pot, which is quite deep and has a round black lid. The product name is quite clearly printed on the top of the lid in white font. This lip balm retails for around £1. I think this is very good value as I have used it a fair few times now and I haven't even made a dent on the surface. The thing that first attracted me to this product is the colour of the balm. It is a gorgeous baby pink and when applied to my lips, although it doesn't give a strong colour, it leaves a hint of pink and a dewy shine. The balm itself is quite a firm texture, not at all greasy like Vaseline, but does just as good a job, if better. When I have used this, my lips feel nourished and soft. Even during the winter months I'm confident that this would be a winner. Disadvantages : Although I don't like Vaseline very much, the one thing I do like about it is the fact that it has no taste while I am wearing it. This lip balm smells really lovely and sweet, strawberry scented, but I hate the taste of it. Even when I'm drinking from a glass I can taste the bitter lipgloss. Its an almost soapy taste, which does put me off wearing it sometimes. Overall, I think that for the price, it is a good quality balm. It has good moisturising effects and makes my lips look shiny and fresh.
I ordered some bits and pieces from Superdrug online just before Christmas, when I received my parcel I found a couple of different 'I love...' lip balms inside, I didn't order any so it was a nice surprise. One of the lip balms was this strawberry and milkshake flavoured one. It comes in a transparent pot so you can see exactly how much you have left. To open it you simply have to unscrew the black lid, this is easy to do. The lip balm is a gorgeous pale pink colour, it looks pretty and girly sitting in the pot, that's why I like how the packaging is transparent. The balm itself has a waxy consistency to it, it's quite thick so does require quite a lot of rubbing of your finger onto the waxy substance to try and get some on your finger. There isn't much of a scent to this lip balm, but when it's on your lips there is a hint of a strawberry type taste, it's quite rich tasting but nowhere near as strong as I would have liked. I love strong tasting lip balms but this was simply just a small hint of flavour, not the full on strawberry taste I expected. The lip balm feels ok on my lips after I have applied it and gives it a glossy look. However, this look doesn't last for long and a top up is required quite often, every hour at least. In regards to helping soothe dry skin, I wouldn't say this helps in the slightest, it sort of only masks the lips instead of healing poor lips. This I love... strawberry milkshake lip balm is available to buy from Superdug, there are a few different flavours available and cost around 99p for a 15g pot of lip balm. I wouldn't recommend this lip balm, it's difficult to get out of the pot, doesn't smell of anything and the taste is too mild for my liking. The only good thing about this lip balm is the price.
~~~~~~ I love ... ~~~~~~ This review is for a little bargain pot of lip balm that I picked up in Superdrug recently. It is part of the "I love..." range which includes shower gels and body butters in fun, fruity fragrances. As well as the Strawberries and Milkshake version I am reviewing here this lip balm also comes in a Raspberry and Blackberry format. It costs just 99p for a 15ml pot. According to the Superdrug website, this product will leave lips "feeling soft, moisturised and ultimately kissable". ~~~~~~~~~~ A creamy balm ~~~~~~~~~~ This balm is very simply packaged in a see through pot with a black screwtop lid. It doesn't look expensive or luxurious, but it is still quite nice to look at. Inside you can see the balm is a very pigmented looking, deep pink shade. The balm itself has a thick and creamy, almost waxy consistency - it is much thicker than I had expected and feels like good quality for the low price. It also has a lovely fruity fragrance, smelling strongly of strawberries. I like the smell of this but I can imagine some people may find the scent a bit too sickly sweet. This is very easy to apply to the lips and it feels like it gives the lip a good hit of moisture with its creamy texture. What is also nice is that this gives lips a lovely sheen with a very subtle hint of colour - perfect for me as I prefer gloss over too much colour. You can taste a slight hint of fruit too which isn't unpleasant at all - and in fact lingers a while after application. The one slightly negative thing I would say about this product is that it doesn't have amazing staying power - however for the price this isn't a massive problem for me. ~~~~~~~~~~ In summary ... ~~~~~~~~~~ Overall I find it hard to fault this product. For such a low price it's really good quality, with a lovely rich and creamy texture. It has a pleasant scent and flavour and best of all for me is the very slight hint of colour it gives to the lips leaving them looking healthy and pretty. So five stars from me, and I would definitely buy this again - and plan to check out the other version too.
I bought this lip balm from Morrisons. It was priced at just one pound so I decided to try it. The size of the tub is 15ml, however it looks loads bigger. You get plenty of the lip balm for the price. The colour of the lip balm is what I would describe as a cotton candy pink colour. The smell is divine! The lip balms smells of strawberries with a hint of vanilla cream. The smell really is to die for. The balm is easy to apply and it can be applied as needed. It doesn't feel waxy, it feels nice and soft instead. It leaves my lips feeling soft, smooth and supple. The balm is quite moisturising too. It's an ideal lip balm for sore and/ or chapped lips as it provides a protective barrier that helps to shield your lips against the elements. The balm does need to be re applied after drinking but it doesn't need to be re applied after eating as it does remain on the lips. If you drink through a straw you wouldn't need to apply it again after drinking. The balm is easy to remove, if you need to remove it for any reason. It simply wipes off with a clean tissue. I find that this lip balm does work but it's not the most natural of lip balms. It does contain Petroleum Jelly that can dry your lips out after continuous use. However, it is a bargain and it does the job. Why pay more? Unless you want something more natural...
What can I say? This flavour is truly gorgeous, and I bet it would appeal to loads of people. I bought this product on a whim a few years ago. I found it in Superdrug for 99p or there abouts (I'm not sure what other stores stock this brand). I had previously never heard of 'I love' products before, but I liked the sounds of the flavour so I thought I would give it a shot. It comes in a basic pot (I think I would have preferred this if it came in a stick). I really do like the cute little love heart design on the front. It's simple but it works very well. You get 15ml product in the tub, which is actually a fair bit. This is one of the main reasons I got this - I couldn't believe how much you got for such a small price! The flavour of this balm is completely gorgeous. I love sweet things, and this really does it for me. It's a classic strawberry milkshake scent - really girly! It leaves a slight pink sheen on the lips which I think looks fairly pretty, it has a fairly glossy look to it. I'm not sure how moisturising this really is to be honest! It does feel nice on the lips when its first applied, but I wouldn't suggest this as a balm if you have really chapped lips. I think this makes a decent everyday lip balm if your lips are in fairly good condition to begin with.
I found this in Superdrug for 99p. I needed to spend a few pence extra to make my total spend to the £10 minimum to qualify me for a discount. As my discount was 25%, it was worth trying this 99p product. To get a 25% discount on £10+ spend of Superdrug own branded goods, fill in an on-line survey after your previous purchase. Instructions are on the back of the receipt. If you buy branded goods the discount is 10%. The £10 spend can be on a mixture of own brand and branded goods. The till will sort out the relevant discounts. I was delighted with my bargain buy. This is why. It protects my lips just as well as its famous rival Vaseline Lip Therapy. It gives my lips a light glossy tint. It has a delicate, pleasant smell and taste as its name Strawberries and Milkshake suggests. This 15 ml pot has lasted me all winter, with still plenty left. It is small enough to fit easily into my handbag. It comes in a lightweight plastic jar. In the severest of weathers I need to use a good basic moisturiser underneath it, but this is true of any other lip balms I have tried, including those that cost considerably more. This is the best value for money lip balm that I have found (cost versus quality). The only one that I have found protects very dry and easily irritated lips slightly better is The Body Shop Aloe Lip Treatment, which is priced at £5. This Body Shop product does not have any fragrance or colour, which is good for some, but not others. The only disadvantage that I can think of is that, like many other lip treatments, you need a clean finger to apply it appropriately and hygienically. RECOMMENDED I Love Strawberry and Milkshake Lip Balm protects my lips, while giving them a light glossy tint, and is great value for money at 99p for a 15 ml jar (from Superdrug) which lasts me at least 4 months.
I originally came across this lip balm around 2 years ago, it was priced in the shop Ethel Austin for £1. I remember liking the title of the lip balm and also that it came in a tub which was of a good size compared to others on the market - it actually had quite a generous amount in it for £1!. The tub is a 15ml one. I remember loving it at the time, maybe because it was so reasonably priced and something new to try. I used it quite a few times and got through a little bit but then lost the tub.. (as I have done a few times with lip balms). I'd forgotten all about it until a few weeks ago, I popped into Superdrug and saw it now being sold there and still priced at £1 - so I decided to purchase it again. The lip balm looks exactly as the picture above. It comes in a little tub with a black lid showing the product name with 3 little white hearts, which is quite girly and feminine. To open the tub you just unscrew the lid. The lid has two heart stickers on each side so you can tell if the balm has been opened before as it tears when you unscrew the lid. Once the lid is off, it reveals inside it a pinky lip balm. When you are first applying it, its quite hard and you have to rub your finger in quite a bit to be able to get it out properly.. afterwards it's fine though and easily applied. It has a nice scent to it which is quite noticable as soon as you undo the lid. It actually is strawberry and milkshake-ish and I do like the scent. The tub is also clear so you can see when the lip balm goes down, but to be fair.. it will last absolutely ages!. Now, I know I loved this product the first time I tried it.. but coming back to it now i've found I don't prefer it as much. Even though the scent is lovely, I found the lip balm doesn't feel as nice on my lips compared to the chapstick apple/watermelon lip balms i've started buying.. and I can really notice it now. It feels a lot thicker when applied and it leaves a not very nice taste on your lips after a while. I now only apply this lip balm in the evening and don't carry it around with me. I prefer not having to dig my finger into it as it does leave my finger with a greasy feel afterwards - and therefore I go with lip balms with a screw up ability to carry on the go. However when applying this it really does make your lips softer and does work as a lip balm. It's also glossy but not too much, it gives your lips a little tint. For a pound I do think it is quite a good lip balm, and if I hadn't come across others that I now prefer over this - I probably still would have liked it.. but although it's good value for money.. I think quality-wise there are better lip balms available. I give this lip balm 3 stars overall, as i'm not sure whether I would buy it again or not. As glossy lip balms go it does soften your lips and give a nice glossy tint - but after a while you may get sick of it.. and i'd rather keep it for just in the house rather than carrying it in my bag. A quick look on the I love cosmetics website tells me their range can be found in Superdrug, Morrisons and Co-Op. I've never tried any of the I love range products apart from this.. but they do look really nice so I will keep my eye out for other items in their range.. and as the I love Strawberries and Milkshake smells so nice - it may be good to try some of their other stuff.
I purchased this from Ethel Austin last year but it is availible from Superdrug and Morrison Stores. I love... is well known for all the scents that are availible and the flavour of products, such as Coconut & Cream and Vanilla & Ice Cream. This lip balm retails for £.0.99 -£1.50 and can also be found in part of a I love... set. The balm is packaged in a 15 ml transparent pot with an opaque black lid. If you used this lip balm regularly that it would last up to 3 months. This lipbalm really smells of Strawberry Milkshake and the scent, nlike other brands, was not lost as more and more product is used. I owned this for 12 months and the scent was as strong at the end of the year as it was near the start. When I first owned the lip balm the consistency was thick and hard to get product to apply, as I had left it in the sun, the consistency changed permanenntly and was a lot softer and easier to apply to the lips but also more sticky and messy. The colour isn't that pigmented and gives more of a sheer light pink glaze to your lips. There wasn't a huge amount of 'gloss' but your lips do look shiny and moisturised. The colour, for me, lasts for 30-40 minutes and the moistur lasting for just over an hour. This lip balm I would only recommend if you lips are already moisturised in need of a hint of colour, as it isn't moisturising enough to help with dryer lips.
These little 'I love...' lip balms are available from superdrug and are adorable! They're really girly and are a bargain at just 99p per pot. There are numerous flavours available, and the one i am reviewing is the Strawberries & Milkshake one. The balm comes in a pretty basic, bog standard 15ml pot which reminds me the Barry M dazzle dust pots. It is transparent, and as the lip balm is pink the pot looks to be pink until it starts running out, then it's half pink and half transparent. The lid is black and twists off easily. On top of the lid, in white writing it says the product name. On the bottom of the pot it has the barcode which says next to it 'Peel' when peeled off it shows the ingredients of the product which i will not list as i am aware many people are not interested in the ingredients, but it is quite a lengthy list! I am pretty certian this will never be mistaken as an organic lip balm with the chemical sounding names listed! Once open, the smell jumps out straight away. I can't put my finger on it but in my opinion it's not very 'strawberries and milkshake' and more a fake, overlly sweet smell with hint of an unpleasent smell to it which i would describe as smelling like dirt. The balm is full to the brim which is good as some brands to attempt to be rip offs and only fill it half way! The balm has a waxy, shiny appearence and is smooth in texture. It's a nice shade of bright pink. Getting the balm onto my finger is annoying as i have to dig my finger into it (with some force!), as if i just glide my finger across it doesn't pick up any of the balm. Once it is on my finger tip it's a very glossy baby pink shade and it melts within seconds. On the lips it leaves a glossy finish with a prominant tint of baby pink. For a balm it is well pigmented but is buildable. The glossy finish is really nice in my opinion and makes the lips appear moist, but it does have a slight metallic look if too much is applied. The smell doesn't last for very long once it has been applied, and top ups are neccessary around every half an hour as it doesn't stay in place very well. If you have dry lips i would not reccomend this as it seems to exaggurate them unfortunetly. This is not a moisturising balm and is purely for cosmetic purposes. I am not keen on it to be honest but for the price it's a decent product. I've used this for a base for my blush once or twice and it worked nicely once the shine was under control. Overall, something most girls (if you're anything like me) will find hard to resist upon seeing it, and the price is very appealing. In the long run it isn't brilliant - it's more of a novelty then anything, but it's useable.
Ok so I was in desperate need of a new lip balm as I (being myself) lost my vaseline :( So when I saw this in Superdrug for only 99p I picked it up as it looked cute and girly. And I love strawberries and the scent and milkshake so I had high hopes for this. I was also drawn to it becasue it was pink :) I am sick of using clear lip balms and wanting to have a change The packaging is small a compact however it is a little bigger than an average sized lip balm but you do get more product and it is small enough to fit in a purse. You get 15ml of product in the tub. It has a simple black lid that has 'I love strawberries and milkshake' written on it which gives you a hint that the smell is going to be very strawberry like! The libalm isn't solid when you get it it is quite soft and sticky so you only need a little dab of the stuff for the whole of your lips. I think it is a bit too light for my lips as it is kind of a tinted lip balm so If you have dark lips like me I wouldnt really recommend it as It makes your lips seem unatrually light if you put too much on The smell is very sweet and extremely strong. I felt it was too sickly sweet for me. I mean I like it alot but I dont wear it all the time anymore as I have became sick of the smell! You get alot of product in the tub so it is bound to last you ages. Overall a good lipbalm but not one of my favourites. I'm sure some people will absolutely love it though. I give it 4/5
I was looking around for little stocking fillers and cute presents before Christmas. For a group of my friends I gather lots of little cute bits which catch my eye and divide them into little packages nearer the time. I bought a few little kitsch bits from Fenwicks the department store, including this lipgloss, I love...Strawberries and milkshake. It wasn't from a brand I have ever heard of before, but it is packaged like Soap and Glory and Benefit products, in a young cool and funky way. It only cost 99p which I thought was a bargain price, compared to some places like the body shop which charge £5 for a lip butter. A few weeks before I was due to give this to someone, I got desperate for a lip balm in the house and couldn't find my usual vaseline. I opened this in desperation and used it, knowing I would have to replace it with another present from my stash (this isn't too much of a problem seeing as I am a shop-a-holic). As soon as I opened this the gorgeous smell hit me. It was so sweet and creamy, a really retro smell that takes you back to idillic childhood days. It was not too sickly, even though it was so strong. It made me instantly addicted to topping it up on my lips, just so I could get some more of the scent, it really did smell good enough to eat! I ended up making it through the tub in two weeks, and got a bit sick of the smell towards the end, just through over use. I have to admit, although addicted to the smell, I didn't find the product quite as good for long term softening of my lips as my usual tub of vaseline. That means I will probably have to stick to vaseline in the future, even though I'm being drawn to quench my new strawberry and milkshake addictions!
As you have probably gathered from my beauty reviews, I love buying beauty products. I can never seem to finish any though, as I buy a new product before the one I am currently using finishes. It's the same story with lip balms; I own quite an extensive range! The Brand I was introduced to the I love... brand through reviews on Ciao and Dooyoo. Their products sounded quite appealing so I thought I would look them up. I love... sells beauty products and has scrumptious sounding ranges comprising of blueberry & smoothie, mango & papaya, coconut & cream, raspberry & blackberry, strawberries & milkshake and vanilla & ice cream. Their website is http://www.ilovecosmetics.eu/ and here you can learn more about their products. I bought a tub of body butter from their strawberries & milkshake range previously and was quite pleased with it so when I spotted this lip balm in a Superdrug store while out shopping, I picked it up immediately. They do not test any finished product on animals and try to use ingredients which have never been tested on animals. Packaging I brought this lip balm home and decided to replace my pink Vaseline tin with this. This lip balm comes in a little 15 ml pot with a black lid. The bottom of the pot is transparent and you can see the pink lip balm through it. "I love...strawberries & milkshake glossy lip balm" is printed on the lid in white. This lip balm is a little heavier than my other lip balms, but still quite compact so you can slip it into your bag if you like. The Lip Balm I wanted to try this as soon as I got home so I unscrewed the lid to first smell the product. It smelt exactly like the body butter, and I think strawberries and milkshake describes the smell perfectly! It smells sweet and fruity like strawberries, but strangely also like a milkshake (strawberry milkshakes are my favourite!). I rubbed my fingertip into the lip balm. It is quite thick and it took a fair amount of rubbing to get enough of the product on my finger to cover my lips. It rubbed onto my lips fairly easily though. It gave my lips a slightly glossy pink tinge. Since this is a lip balm and not a lip gloss, I wasn't expecting it to be too glossy and it wasn't. I think the gloss is just the right amount to wear on a day to day basis. It also made my lips feel quite moisturised. If I don't eat or drink the lip balm tends to last about 4-5 hours, which is fine because that is how long lip balms usually tend to last, and since it is light I can carry it around and reapply it throughout the day. I'm quite pleased with this product because it looks very natural when worn and also leaves my lips quite soft. It's not as moisturising as Vaseline products, but my lips have not felt dry or chapped the entire time that I have been using this. I've been using this for a few weeks now and it looks like I've barely used any at all so I think this will last a long, long time. For those who like to lick or "eat" their lip balms, I'm sorry but I have no idea what this tastes like but it does smell good enough to eat! Price and availability I love... products can be found in Superdrug and Morrisons stores and can also be purchased on the Superdrug website. I bought this lip balm for 99p and I think that's a bargain for such a good product that will last ages. Unfortunately, I've only seen the strawberries & milkshake and raspberry lip balms stocked, but would love to try the others if I ever find them. Recommendation I do recommend this as it is a nice, basic lip balm that you can use on a day-to-day basis without breaking the bank. It looks nice worn and moisturizes my lips, and also smells lovely. This review may appear on other sites under the same username.
