Advantages: cheap, works well on cracked lips
Disadvantages: cheap looking design
I absolutely love the "jelly belly" sweets and always buy them loose so I can pick the flavours I like best, I was out shopping at the weekend and while browsing in poundland I noticed the Jelly belly lip balm, it was the first time I had ever seen the lip balm and was delighted to pop it in my basket. I bought the bubblegum flavour as its my favourite jelly belly sweetie.
As I said I bought it from poundland and believe it or not it only cost a £1.00. I have now noticed that amazon is selling them for £2.00 Its well worth the money I paid but poundland usually has limited stock and you may find it difficult to buy from your local shop.
The lip balm comes in a small plastic tub which is transparent and you can see the lip balm colour through it, in the bubblegum flavour it looks pale pink. It has a screw off lid which is also made from plastic and is a pale pink shade, the lid has a sticker on it with the "jelly belly" logo on it and a scroll with the words "bubblegum" and a few different coloured jelly belly sweets. The tub contains 8g of lip balm. On the reverse of the tub is another sticker with product information, it has to be discarded after 12 months of being opened and its actually made by baylis & harding.
The lid unscrews without much effort and for such a small tub its easy to grip, there is a foil cover over the inner tub which I just removed and binned but it was to keep the lip balm fresh. The lip balm is a pale transparent pink colour and looked quite like jelly but I found it felt similar to apply like Vaseline and had a petrolium jelly texture to it.
It made my lips feel soft and smooth, I often have cracked lips with the cold weather but found it improved my cracked lips with only a few applications of the lip balm. The main positive about the lip balm is the scent of the lip balm, I bought the bubblegum flavour and it smelt like bubble gum, it smelt sweet and sugary. Although the lip balm looked a slight pink tinge in the tub I found it made no difference to my lip colour. My lips looked and felt very hydrated and healthy and will be continuing to use this lip balm thought the winter.
My only negative comment is the sticker on the lid looks quite cheap and tacky, it looks like its almost printed of a home computer. Jelly belly being such a huge company I expected a more quality sticker. I only paid a £1.00 so I have a bit of a cheek complaining about it.
Summary: will be buying it again.
