Advantages: Works, tastes good, smells lovely and sweet
I am a big fan of Lush and their products, but I only tend to buy them every so often as a little treat to myself. Just after Christmas 2010 when Lush had their crazy (but brilliant) 50% off on their seasonal products offer on I bought myself one of their Christmas gift boxes - The Christmas candy box. In this box were 6 items including this bubblegum lib scrub.
=== Price and Availability ===
This product is a Lush product and only available in Lush stores as well as online on Lush's website.
As mentioned, the first time I bought this lip scrub I actually got it as part of a gift box. I have recently bought another pot of this as the winter months are looming and I want to avoid having chapped lips! To buy it on it's own it costs £5.25. This is a little steep in my opinion, especially considering the ingredients (to be discussed), but a 25g pot does last a long time.
=== The Product ===
The scrub comes in a small 25g clear jar with a black screw on/off lid with a typical Lush label that we have all grown to love. The jar is a pretty solid one (good for people like me who are occasionally prone to dropping things!) and allows you to see the delicious looking pink colour of the scrub. It is definitely small enough to carry around in your handbag, but seeing as it could be considered a messy product, possibly not the best thing to be using out in public.
The actual scrub is a bright bubblegum pink colour. To apply I just get a small amount on my finger, and rub it on my lips, and then rub my lips together. It does have a rough texture to it, which I would expect seeing as it's a scrub. It doesn't irritate my lips at all. Due to the texture of the scrub though, I do sometimes get a few grains of the sugar in places other than my lips. It does does brush off though if you happen to get a small amount on your chin or top. Good to know for those prone to mess!
It is a totally edible lip scrub, so I just lick it off after rubbing it in to my lips. It has a lovely sweet taste. I wouldn't say it tastes of bubblegum exactly, but it is pretty tasty! The end result is lovely, smooth, kissable lips!
The scrub has a similar scent to the Snow Fairy shower gel. This is a way that we can enjoy the scent of the seasonal shower gel all year round.
=== Ingredients ===
I don't normally list ingredients in products unless there is a particular reason for doing so. I am bringing them up here for those that are interested that this lip scrub is suitable for vegans. There are very few ingredients in the scrub, which is brilliant especially as this is something you put on your lips. For those of you that are interested the ingredients are castor sugar, organic jojoba oil, flavour, colour 45410, and colour 45380. That's it!
Considering the main ingredient is only castor sugar though it does make that price tag of £5.25 a little debatable...
=== Does it work? ===
I have been applying this to my lips in the evenings and have found that it definitely has helped make my lips feel much smoother and gives that kissable feel. It helps fight that chapped look that some of us tend to get in the winter months.
=== Summary ===
I have given the product 4 stars, it would have been a definite 5 had it been a little cheaper, at the end of the day it is mostly sugar. I would recommend this product to others for definite though, don't let the price put you off. It does what it is advertised to do, which especially in the 'prone to chapped lips' cold months is a definite winner with me.
Summary: A lip scrub that works, and smells and tastes good in the process
