Advantages: Leaves lips smooth, smells gorgeous!
Disadvantages: A little expensive BUT it lasts well!
The lip scrub comes in a generously sized 25 gram sturdy glass pot which is full to the brim with product so I personally think for the price you do get your money's worth. The pot is transparent so the product can be seen through it, the product is bright neon pink so it's very eye catching. The lid on the jar is black and screws off easily, and the lid has got the Lush logo and product name. The product name and Lush logo are also on the front of the pot. On the bottom of the pot it says the date of when the product was made and who the product was made by - it has a picture of them too which is adorable. Mine was made by someone called Adam (a Lush employee), and it has a picture of him smiling, it's a lovely little idea and really makes me like the product that bit more. It also has the expiry date on the bottom, mine is 2 years from the date it was made.
The packaging overall is quite minimalistic but is cute and the fact it is small enough to be classed as pocket sized is handy for when out and about, obviously I would not use this in public due to the texture but i've had occasions of using it in Mcdonalds toilets to make my lips nice and soft before meeting my boyfriend in town, lol. The overall colour scheme of the packaging is black (like most Lush packaging), with the product able to be seen through the transparent jar (apart from where the black labels are). As mentioned before mine is pink as I have the bubblegum flavour, but as there are other flavours available colours will vary. The other colours I am aware of are mint and chocolate.
The smell is gorgeous. It is the same scent as the Snow Fairy shower gel, very sweet and bubblegummy, and it honestly smells good enough to eat.. and you actually can eat it! I have licked it off my lips a few times, and it tastes really sweet. I don't think it's dangerous to eat this as it contains natural ingredients, but obviously I wouldn't eat it straight out of the pot no matter how tempting it is! This product isn't a lip gloss or lip balm. It is a lip scrub, which you'll of probably guessed by now due to the title of my review! A lip scrub is basically an exfoliator for the lips; it removes dead skin - ideal for refreshing cracked and dry lips.
When in the tub it looks like pink sand - very grainy in appearence and texture, and very pigmented (neon pink). When swatching it though it is sheer, and once on the lips almost unnoticeable. The bits in the lip scrub aren't loose or messy, they stick together well rather than falling off and going everywhere. The texture is quite solid (for a lip product), but it is easy easy to work with and it is better than it been too liquidy and making a mess.
To apply this I dab my finger into it, I find that I only need a little bit - a little goes a long way with this. I then rub it into my lips softly, making sure they are covered evenly. When it has sunken into my lips (this process takes a couple of minutes at the most) I like to lick off the suggary bit left, it tastes like bubblegum, really nice! Alternatively it can be wiped off with a damp cloth. After use I find my lips are really soft and smooth, and they are usually a pinkish red tint and nicely pigmented immediatly afterwards - I suppose it gets the blood flowing. I usually use this around 3 times a week because I don't want my lips becoming irritated or raw - this isn't too harsh but it is a little harsh so I make sure I don't over use it and don't press too hard, it's important to do it lightly because I made the mistake of putting a little too much on and my lips felt a little sore and tingly which wasn't pleasent.
This does not moisturise the lips much if at all (it does feel moist after immediate application but only lasts 2-3 minutes), but it does noticeably soften and exfoliate them quickly, and due to the smell and taste it is pleasant to use the product. The smell lingers nicely which is always a plus and my boyfriend thoroughly enjoys kissing me when I have the scent on my lips as apparently it smells like candy floss lol - i've tried explaining to him it is bubblegum but he doesn't agree. This product is ideal to use before bed to soften them up and remove dead skin overnight, or alternatively before applying lip gloss/lip stick because it leaves no trace of the scrub and smoothens the lips nicely. Do not apply this OVER lipgloss or lipstick though! Apply it to clean, bare lips.
I have had this for 3 months and have used it 2-3 times a week and the jar is still over half full! I suppose that is because I apply very carefully though as I don't want to overuse it or waste it, but overall for the price I do think this is a good product, and it is no more expensive then any other good quality lip exfoliators on the market. The product is fine for vegans and vegeterians to use and it is 100 percent cruelty free. Reccomended!
Summary: Well worth the price
